Ah, so even if I did email myself the program the same thing would happen?

I have it all on usb yes, again the lovely mcafee blocked it.

STB surely does know whats what... Its a pity that one of the links is confusing the computer here. McAfee.

    So close, yet so far!

Unfortunately you will not be able to run this on a work machine as you are using McAfee anti virus which picks it up as a virus. Likewise Trend will pick it up as a "PAK_generic.001" virus. It wont run as long as though AV programs are installed.

Its a compressed executable probably using UPX which drives some heuristics programs bananas. In short I suspect it is a false positive, but nothing that is going to please your IT administrator and something that Ferguson need to sort out with the anti virus/malware companies' that have different views on the exe.

I use Malwarebytes Pro and Microsoft Security Essentials. Malwarebytes is possibly one of the harshest scanners out there an it doesn't detect it as any threat. But some companies depend on people fighting them to get off their unsafe list.

The other program you got from the CCAM website is for the other Ariva 120 (M3602 chip) I wouldn't use it as it might cause permanent damage.

You need the one for the M3606 chip which is the one your work AV program is having the problems with. I wouldn't hesitate running it. Its not as if it came from a malicious source.

Where did you buy it ?

I tried with my “older Low-Cost Koenig SDCR10” and Homecast 9000 receiver, even with a longer cable length (about 20m) between 4to1switch and these receivers ,and I had immediate reception with image without any problems , on all 4 LNB’s.

So, the problem is not the 4to1switch and neither the remote control…..

Yes but did you try the cable run that is causing problems with the Ariva 202 on the Homecast ? It sounds to be like the F connector on the main cable going to the Diseqc out is not on properly or loose/badly crimped.

I dont have an Ariva 202 (this is the 150 thread) so I can only talk in terms of my knowledge of the Ariva 150/250 ranges which are same chipset and similar software.

Whilst I have noticed some software glitches on the Arivas for diseqc including sometime misleading meter readings, I havent seen anything that disables diseqc in the way you describe. A no signal for a mili second on a 8x1 diseqc sometimes.

Yep, not doing anything further in work. Emailed it to myself and it was straight into quaranteen!

I'll wait till I get another pc so! But on a normal (not work) pc my friend (I didnt get to do it myself) tried at the weekend, he got the whole "done" then fail thing.

Yes, tested with Ariva then Köenig , then Homecast, back to Ariva , and the problem shows only on Ariva . I tried even with another 2m short cable with the Ariva outside (direct near dish) , just with the same result. "Zapping" between different LNB's or Satellites is at this moment the only solution to have reception via the LNB on satellite I want.

Sounds like a short circuit, disconnect the dish and see if the warning disappears. If it does you have a problem with your connectors, cable or lnb.

As per previous post, could I just clarify one thing as any online information is very scarce.

The "warning" sign which displays on screen disappears when the satellite cable is disconnected.

At this stage, for what I can gather from another poster, is that there is a short somewhere along this dish cable

The box and reception was perfect up to last week when the problem arose

Fixing any problem like this to do with satellite cable would be out of my expertise, (aside from checking that all cables are secure) I have called a repair guy to come later this week

I told him on the phone that LnBp is displayed on my box and that the warning light keeps flashing and cant be turned off

He mentioned it might be the box or dish, at this stage Im sure its the satellite cable,

Is there anything I can do before he arrives to prevent been rail roaded into getting work, box or satellite that I might not need?

    Any help appreciated

With the CCAM version ? That wont work as its for a different chip type.

Get him to try the proper version. Its all on the click next on screen and then hit the switch at the back of the box that messes people up.

If he is saying that the box might be faulty after you gave him this information then I'd advise you to cancel the call and get somebody else as he either does not have expertise or is trying it on.

If you can get access to the dish you can disconnect the cable from the lnb , if the warning disappears you know its the LNB if it does not then the cable is at fault . You can also look for discoloration around the screw on connector which might indicate water ingress.

It might be useful for you to start another thread on this if you need more help as its not an issue specific to the ariva 150 and might take this thread off topic.

This happens when the braid (wirey bit) of the satellite cable is touching the core of the f connector and shorts it as Tony has said.

Its most likely the one on going into the box.

    cable-pic1-150x150.jpg

If its a screw like f connector it screws on and screws off. Screw it off and make sure that the core and braid dont touch. Then screw the fconnector back onto the cable and connect to your box. You can do this with your hands and a scissors!!

    Bit of a cheeky request...

When I got my 120 I downloaded a channel list from a link of the 120 thread that had all the channels nicely sorted.

Does anyone have one for this box to save me the hours of sorting. I'm looking for sports, movies etc. Needs to be on the 1.18B6 firmware.

    A PM would do. Thanks

Apologies if this has been asked before but I did search the forum and failed to find an answer.

When I record a program the wrong title/name appears on the recording - any solutions please?

Also - sometimes when viewing a current ( i.e. whilst still recording) recording, I fail the get entire program - it stops recording for some reason?

    Many thanks.

Sorry this is short as I'm replying from a phone.
On the first item it's because you started recording before the guide changed to indicate the 'now' program. Perhaps just delay the record a bit?
On the second item I don't see this problem. By default it records for 2 hours. You haven't gone over that? If playing while recording hitting stop brings up a stop recording dialog. I presume you're not seeing that? Enough space on your disk? Maybe do a chkdsk on the disk to make sure you have no errors. I think this box is poor at cleaning up a disk after powering down.

Does anybody know who the distributor is for Ferguson products e.g. Ariva 150, in Ireland? Would be grateful for details.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Just to note there's a new rev of firmware 1.21B4 available. Know nothing about it as it's only just gone up but steady improvements with each rev. No info yet on what the fixes are.

Also to note the manuals have been updated and have their own link on the support page.

    Hi Guys,

Might be a stupid question .. and my apologies for that.

I see a lot of talk about Quad LNB's etc. But how many cables from the actual outside dish do I need going into the house for multi-rooom (Multi receiver box) viewing.

Is it enough to have just one aerial cable coming into the house from the Dish and have a splitter on it inside the house and a number of cables then from that going to different receiver boxes.

(I live alone and would not be watching in more than one room at a time anyway, so its not important if only one can be working on one receiver box at a time)

What I do not want to have is loads of cables coming into the house through windows etc.

    a few other related questions

I know this post is discussing Ferguson Ariva .. I am going to buy one/two of these combo boxes shortly and was comparing the various ones on the market.

I see there are quite a few on the market, Opticum, Golden Media, Humax, Walker and in particular I see the Triax box (Tsc 114 or 537 Satellite Combo Box - Saorview Approved) does support the New Aertel Teletext format (Mheg5) is there any drawback with these brands .. in comparison to the Ferguson models ?

    another question

Does anyone have any experience of something called a Window Frame F cable (also called a flat Cable Joiner) ? its basically a thin ribbon cable that actually goes through the window opening (even when window is closed). Normal aerial cable is attached at either end of it. Cuts out the need for drilling holes in Wall or Window frame. But does this "bridge" cause the signal deteriorate ?

This is an example of what I am on about

Well if, like me, you want Aertel don't attempt to buy the Ariva 150. I'm in the process of trying to do an exchange - perhaps for a Walker. If Aertel isn't an issue then the Ariva 150 is fine.

Aertel is available on the Ariva 150 and 250s. Copy the encrypted RTE1 off the Astra satellite list and copy it to your master channel list. Rename it Aertel if you wish for ease of use. Press the text button.

They may not do MHEG5 text, but they still support old Aertel text. You need to read the threads before you buy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,644 ✭✭✭littlevillage

    Thanks guys,

I have read a few of the other threads in the meantime.

I see that it is not possible to split the Satelite cable .. so I will need as many cables coming into the house as I have separate receivers. (Thanks Tony)

I was leaning towards the Triax receiver but see that they are €50 more expensive and don't support Web browsing and the biggest headache of all seem to give a fair bit of trouble

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056557642

So now looking at Ferguson Ariva 250. In terms of Aertel and (Mheg5)... what exactly can the Ferguson not do .. ??

Is it possible to view the Aertel pages ? Just not view the tv at the same time in the snazzy split screen ? is that all that is missing by not having (Mheg5) ? arae there other nice features in the "new" Aertel that is not supported on the Ferguson ?

    No MHEG5 = NO telextext

Point taken regarding reading threads before buying. However I bought before I ever joined Boards.ie. I did join up to establish if I could get Aertel on my Ariva 150. I did what you suggested above but still cannot get Aertel. Either way I would be concerned that it could be only a temporary fix as the encrypted RTE 1 may disappear. Had I known then what I know now i.e. Ariva 150 isn't Saorview approved, I wouldn't have purchased. I, stupidly perhaps, thought my installer would have known better. You live and learn.
