Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was thinking of getting one of these based on how pleased I've been with my 120, you must have been unlucky.

Again same idea. These boxes combine Saorview and satellite channels in the one channel list.

Obvious question is going to be what are the differences over the 120/220 combos. They are updates to that series. I would guess that the 120/220s may become discontinued shortly as a result. Much the same prices.

    How much??

The 150 is €72, before postage on Satsklep. With postage in or around €100 probably. The Ariva 250 not yet available there.

Tony of Satellite.ie is a Ferguson agent in Ireland. Lets see what kind of prices (and deals if any for boards members he has).

Yes, I noticed that. I didn't mention it. Perhaps it might be a deal clincher for some! Anyhow it can be locked.

I have seen worse by the way. It seems to be an element creaping into satellite boxes with internet access in general. You should look into the Mvision NET range that comes out of Spain. They have a pre-programmed menu option linking to an FTP full of pron. They use it as a selling point!
    excollier wrote: »

Dunno. I didn't write the software. If there are any issues, I am sure the Ferguson Agents will have a line into them, as in the past. So support and issues via here, I would imagine.

Digital TV Receiver Ferguson Ariva 150 Combo is a new version of the 120th Owned by the previous model functionality has been extended, among others. WiFi adapters for handling and use of the websites (youtube, youporn, dailimotion, RSS, weather, google maps). Equipped with a faster processor Ariva 150, also offers a much more advanced support for subtitles, as well as encoding Xvid (divx) and the practical function of multiroom.
    [Google translate]

I wonder what that 'multiroom' actually means.
It seems that DTS passthrough is part of the new spec., which I guess is directly related to that statement.

Anyone got info on this aspect?

I saw the reference to multiroom but cant see an RF modultaor. I have asked Tony what thats all about.

DTS is audio related, similar to Dolby Digital.

Yes, and my understanding is that .... the DTS passthough would make available multichannel data on the passthrough.

But that is all rather vague ..... but the use of 'multiroom' is intriguing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,336 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Honestly I've no idea why they are referring to multiroom, maybe this is a translation issue . First sample box for testing should be here in a few days so if I see anything that might equate to multiroom I'll post up here. I'll also check out if the two usb ports are both the same which would give the option of using the external hard drive at the back of the box.

Delivery to Ireland is €12.39, making the delivered price €84.85. Can any Irish supplier match that?

Wondering is that menu example shown on the screenshot a fixed one?

In other words, will YOUPORN always be on your menu?

If so, I think thats rather strange. I can see it now - "Daddy, whats YouPorn?"

    Of course they can't.

As mentioned earlier, satworld have thrown down the gauntlet @ €100. Tony will prob come in close I guess. Eitherway, ask yourself is it worth €15 for the peace of mind of a local supplier, hence an easy return/exchange if issues arise, which, if it's predecessor is anything to go by, will be a real concern.

I've pm'ed a mod to ask if I can answer the pricing question but no reply so far.

Reason for this is advertising is (quite rightly) not allowed here normally.

Have to say personally, was quite happy with my 120, not perfect but good overall.
Any more details on the price for the wifi dongle thing

i cant see ferguson doing anything with them for the irish market because as has been mentioned with the 120 if they put mheg5 on it it would have been a serious winner but ferguson don't seem interested in it.

Bit the bullet with the 150 last night and then seen this. Rang them this morning and changed my order :D

The 150 is in stock. The 250 is not, although they do expect to receive delivery in 48-72hrs.

Will post details once I have it.

As yes but the chipset support CI+ modules. We will see what Tony comes back with from Ferguson.

I am sure it hasn't escaped Ferguson Polands' attention that they were shipping significant large numbers of the 120s to Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 Wanaknowmore

Just wondering if any of the Irish suppliers know when they will have the 150 in stock?
Just prefer to buy local, given little difference in price and easier to deal with any issues if they arise (though i have had no issues with the 120).

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,336 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Ferguson have started shipping so most Irish suppliers should have stock by middle of next week if not sooner.

Any more info on the Ariva 150 yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 Wanaknowmore

I appreciate that few people have had their hands on these boxes but do you think that the internet options listed could be edited to remove some references? I understand that you can lock them but would rather not have them available.

I am looking to setup a 150 for my inlaws and would rather that they didn't have any difficult conversations with their grandkids! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭O'Prez

I'm eyeing up the 250. Probably a stupid question but will we be able to use the Ariva Editor with the 250?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,859 ✭✭✭bmaxi

Ariva 250 now up on satsklep also for €74.80 plus shipping.

You have to wonder how Satworld see a 20% difference in price between the two boxes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭yomamasflavour

    Considering the price difference (satsklep.pl)

    Ariva 150 combo €72.51
    Ariva 250 combo €74.86

Why bother bringing out the 150 at all?

when i said i ordered 1 online i meant from an irish supplier???????

Whats with the satsklep stuff, cant anyone use irish suppliers anymore......

Then again when support is required sure use boards for the answers since satsklep dont have a freefone number, :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭yomamasflavour

Considering the only irish supplier of Ariva 250's is Satworld.ie (that I know of anyway).
    For 3 boxes it's €370 versus €260 from Satsklep.

    Seems pretty simple.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 210 ✭✭banjacksed

is that delivered from satsklep?, didnt know satworld was irish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭yomamasflavour

That's the price delivered from both.
Satsklep is €75 each plus €35 for postage (total postage cost).
Satworld is €120 each plus €9 for postage (total postage cost).

I assume that Satworld is an irish supplier considering it's Satworld.ie.
As far as I can see no other irish supplier is offering the Ariva 250.
Only the Ariva 150, and it's usually €100 plus postage.

So there's a considerable price difference when you're buying a few.

I'd much rather buy from an Irish supplier, but considering a few bits for the satellite are €100 as well as another €250 for a new TV, it's becoming quite expensive.

So trying to make any savings I can.

Not all support on Boards would come from suppliers, in fact I'd say the majority does not and if we were to take your reasoning to it's logical conclusion we wouldn't use supermarkets. I'm all in favour of keeping the money at home but in this case the difference in price between the two models is hard to justify.

    Versus the Ariva 150.

It displays the channel name, also the remote has the option to control the TV as well.
So no second remote just to turn the tv on/off.

For anyone considering satsklep there's only a €2 diffence in price between the 250 and 150, so might as well get the extra features.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,576 ✭✭✭excollier

Maybe because it has a CI slot, makes a little more flexible, I suppose.

Fair enough, but would you buy a television from poland?
Sure my logical conclusion makes good sense for both the purchaser and supplier and economy. If we dont start supporting irish business well what have we become. their are Irish suppliers buying these in and thay have to make a few bob selling them or it just wouldnt be worth their time.

Yes we can buy cheaper from poland but if something happens to product it got to go back,

    So 75 for a box and 35 post =110
send box back to poland with fault €35 plus another to get it back?

Correct me if im wrong but are satsklep going to pay the post?
So how much is the box costing you, and going on the previous ariva 120 (returns) this makes very good sense to buy Irish and support Irish Business & Jobs etc.

    Hi Tony,
Firstly, hope you guys don't mind a poster from England on your board?

I have gone for the 250 over the 150 because of the addition of a CI slot as well as the card reader. I'll be using a Cyfra+ card directly in the reader and still have the CI slot for an additional card as and when I need it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭yomamasflavour

You're right, if anything goes wrong you are going to have to post it back to Poland.

Similarily though, if anything goes wrong with an Irish bought box, you're going to have to post it back also costing €15 or so with An Post.

in fairness it makes good economic sense to buy irish when and where possible, it will cost less in the end and you van have the enjoyment of supporting irish jobs and helping create them, surley you would sleep better at night knowing this, just a bit of friendly humour ;)
