10min shutdown (saving to an SSD!) is a buzz kill though.

Not sure if it was here I mentioned it last week but I got my Corsair K60 today and am busy testing it out this evening.

Its my first time buying a mechanical keyboard but also my first time using anything better than a cheap dell or logitech keyboard. Got to say i am impressed by the build quality first of all. Very sturdy board and I like the way the keys are elevated making it alot easier keep clean.

Im not much of a Keyboard gamer and will prob be using it more for typing. And for this it feels alot more comfortable straight away. Way easier follow the key strokes. Will give it a week or so to settle in but so far Im happy with my purchase.

Nearly have to invest in a decent mouse next :)

I can't remember. Was there a consensus on this thread what the best gaming keyboard is?

Nice chunky keys, lack of gaudy lights and sturdiness a priority.

Got my das keyboard last week, been a pleasure to use thus far. Was quite surprised by the weight of it and how chunky it was by comparison to my old logitech media 600. The browns are an absloute joy to use, really make it feel like you could type a mile a minute, take very little pressure for the keys to register, and while they do make a satisfying sound its not so loud as to be obtrusive. Haven't really noticed it been the fingerprint magnet that people have made it out to be, give it time I guess :D

Haven't had a chance to play much on it yet, a bit of CS and planetside 2, For anyone whose played far cry 3 it has been great for all the QTE's when you need to mash keys :P

Leaked specs for AMD's new Radeon HD series

Could be BS but who cares, it's something to drool over until then :D

I want to get a new card (almost solely for Company of Heroes 2), so irritating when the new market is actually better value than the 2nd hand market. Looking around at adverts, at 7870's and similar nvidia cards, all of the asking prices are actually above what I can get a new 7870/GTX660 online, and sellers don't seem too inclined to lower their prices....no sense in saving a tenner when you're getting a card that's a year or two old and has no warranty.

Yeah I had the exact same experience when looking for a second hand card recently. And the problem is some people are paying those prices for second hand hardware. :(

    €170 for a second hand HD 5870?

    Anyone?

Anyone happen to have a AOC i2757fm ?

Considering getting one, seems to be pretty good from what I've read, but hearing first hand experience is always helpful :)

At that price you're venturing into Catleap territory. That monitor is 1920x1080 while the Catleap is 2560x1440. You'd need a decent enough rig to run at that resolution tho.

Also that AoC has no DVI  I personally don't like HDMI because I've had issues with some games, in particular ARMA II where it will underscan for no reason and I couldn't find a way to fix it.

Yeah, it is getting into that sort of territory alright. Primary use would be more towards photo editing rather than gaming (but still with plenty of gaming), and current rig even with planned upgrades (no graphics upgrade) probably wouldn't handle 1440p with med-high settings. And I'm not sure if there's much benefit in terms of photo editing either.

I'm not sure I'll miss the lack of a DVI port tbh. Only ever used VGA thus far, and have 2 DVI->VGA adapters on my GTX460 already.

Seriously though. First new monitor in... 5 years? Current monitors I own don't have a DVI port :p

get the catleap anyway. run the games at 1080p and splurge in the magnificence of photoshop @ 2560*1440.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Or, get this, and bask in 3000:1 contrast. :D

    You make a good point...

I dunno, there's something I don't like about the idea of ordering computer stuff from ebay..... despite regularly using it for everything else, and plenty of ye have them... :D

There's hardly any reviews on the catleap showing calibration results? Proper colours are sort of important for image editing :D

Now that is sexylicious. No IPS though :(

It's VA. Better colour reproduction than IPS, and slightly narrower viewing angles. Slower response time, but hugely increased contrast ratio.

    interesting.... tell me more

There are two main types of VA panels - MVA and PVA. The Samsung is an MVA derivative, A-MVA. Typically, VAs can be a bit dimmer than IPSs, and slow response times. A-MVA attempts to address both of these. You end up with what is basically an IPS monitor, with slightly slower response times, and crazy contrast.

A guy on [H] got one, and reportedly once the panel was set to "faster" response time, there wasn't any noticeable ghosting over IPS.

Just thinking of a small bit of an upgrade pending on a transaction that could or could not go through.
My hardware pending on the transaction going through :
    Mobo : asrock 970 extreme4
    CPU : AMD Athlon iix3 455e unlocked to AMD Phenom iix4 b55 @ 3 cores 4 threads 3.8ghz
GPU : asus gtx 570 direct cuII sli setup
    Ram : corsair xms3 4gb
PSU :piece of cr@p 700 watt.

So what im thinking of :PSU : http://www.eurieka.ie/be-quiet-pure-power-l8-cm-730w.html.
Not sure if i should upgrade CPU its probably running better then the phenom but if i am a six core preferably
and 8gb ram.The only must is the PSU and i dont have alot of money probably €100 -120 on the psu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,414 ✭✭✭Fluffy88

The be Quiet! only has 660W on the 12V rail and considering your hopefully new 570's can pull 220W on full load (according to nVidias spec) and your CPU will pull around 150W (according to Extreme PSU Calculator) with a bit of an overclock it might be close.

You can get the Corsair HX750 which is a top class PSU on eurieka for just under €120

hmm is this eurieka is quite competitive with priceS?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

    In a word: No.

Actually I was looking at the ex. VAT price, the HX750 is actually €144 and since the order isn't over €175 you have to pay €12.30 shipping on top of that!

EDIT: Serephucus summed it up a little better :)
