..... Must be hightowers car judging from the tilt on the driver's seat :pac:

What's the point of upgrading your suspension so that you can "take it handy"? Standard suspension bits are well able to deal with "handy" driving.

What was the point in making such a stupid post? There are stupid posts everywhere on the site, why have to add another one?

And who said anything about taking things handy?

Why begrudge him what he want's to do? Not harming anyone atall?

Next time, either post via telex or telegram

Have you ever heard of "Lower" or "Looks nicer"?

Tell me which version looks better to you?

    Top one.

Just goes to show what you know about lowering and coilovers.

I always knew people would ruin a cars looks because they think lowering the car and fitting harder suspension improves the handling. I don't agree that it improves the handling on actual roads, but I always thought the modders believed it did.

But here we are talking about fitting suspension mods which you admit mean you shouldn't drive the car hard so that it can look as though you think you have improved the handling.

    Laughable stuff.

Even MORE great news from the mechanic - all is good with the gearbox seals so big relief there. He rang the previous garage regarding parts from the cabin air filter because the one I had was too big and it turns out to be the previous owners uncle who told me that in it's short life, it's been very well kept. Only has 45,000 miles and it has been serviced yearly, new rear axle, new steering rack (common fault), replacement wish bones and bearings all round! :)

Then tell me why manufacturers often offer a 20 -25 mm drop on sme of their vehicles to improve handling. Are they wrong too? Oh wait they must be

Granted a lot of people lower their cars to almost undriveable standards, which is a tad silly.

I'm glad its annoying some people a lot :D

If you are setting a car up for track use, by all means lower and stiffen it.

On real roads with bumps, ramps and potholes, you are taking out compliance that you actually need.

Why do manufacturers offer "sports suspension"? Because people pay extra for it thinking it looks cool.

It would depend on the roads you drive and how well it's done. I wouldn't dream of lowering mine but in some areas of the country the roads are decent, no speed bumps, potholes etc. To say people only do it because it looks cool is a bit narrow minded.

Ever seen a factory car with a 20mm drop? It's barely noticeable. So much for "looking cool"

Did you know that there are people out there that drive "lowered" cars on a "daily basis"? Potholes, ramps, bumps don't seem to bother them. Why on earth be so concerned with what other people do??? It's "their" business isn't it?

There is just no "point" talking to "sheer begrudgers"

But upthread people are talking about fitting bits which are so bad you have to "take it handy" with them!

Begrudgery is where I hate your cool car because I wish I could have a cool car but I can't.

Taste is where I hate your car because it is horrible, and I wouldn't drive it if you died and left it to me.

These are different words, with distinct meanings.

There talking about a dodgy part manufacturer. Doesn't apply to all parts. Upthread you are talking about factory fit suspensions. Not the same thing as a cheap set off the internet.

It is actually very funny you should come up with something like that.
My car is almost 20mm lower than the standard model. It also has a stiffer setup than standard.
    Does it ruin it?
Not by a long haul, in fact it is way more driveable and comfortable than the standard one. I had to option of driving a standard version and by god was it horrible. Soft.wallowy. soft.. Hated it.
Would I track my car with the current set up?
Yes but I seriously thing it would need more than just Expensive coilovers to make it handle like a track car.

    So,
    What's your point exactly?

I do have expereince of all 3 ride heights and have a fair idea of what I am talking about.
But i NEVER said put on coilovers and crawl around the roads.
I did so not to trash them which by the way should not be done on a public road anyhow.

Chuffed to hear this from a Boardsie because I've read a lot of good reviews (and some mixed of course) about the JOM Coilovers - and you can't judge them unless you have used them so thank you very much mate!

NCT'd the octy today, passed, straight in no kissing.
Was sure it would fail on the handbrake as it barely passed last year by only 2%.
It passed by 6% today, the tester must have pulled a little harder on the lever.
    Happy motoring.

I add power steering fliud because for some reason there was none :| I heard pump was working very loud and check level of it... none at all. Couldn't believe it.

Bought also Octane Booster. I didn't see pb98 on gas station's but I think my car should drive on it. That booster should add few octane's to petrol i have in it. Before i add it i have to fill my tank (it's about half full now). Hope it's work :)

Marcinek, I'm sorry to burst your bubble on this but you will not notice any difference in the car with octane booster. I did a quite a bit of research on this when I was trying to remap the MPS.

It takes 10 octane points to equal 1 octane number. These boosters might increase 95 ron petrol by 6 or 7 points so therefore really is useless.

I seen results on a dyno with my own car with a before and after run

Today I chaged my standasrd, pissy window washer jets with some nice metal wide-spray jets. Much better and universal fit.

Also got new front shocks fitted and now waiting for new top mounts, as they're knackered too.

    link to this please ?

I don't like the thing that sprays the windscreen on the crv... weak and aims in spots unlike the civic that covers the whole screen.

    I think it was a 6hp increase I seen.

Could just as easily have been a discrepancy with the run. I remember the last dyno day I was at (up at urban), Joe/Gary kept running a few cars because the car might not hit peak over the first few runs.

Realistically you'd have to do a single blind test* on 100+ cars after determining baseline BHP to get any sort of statistically significant data to suggest it has an effect.

*the single blind would be so the person doing the dyno run doesn't know what's been put in the tank. Ideal way of doing this is to have say 100 octane booster bottles, but have 50 of them filled with petrol and the rest with octane booster, and have someone other than the tester put it in the tank (smell might give it away).
