How many happyman posts does it take to close a thread?

I really think people need to stop going for the bait.

I enjoy this thread and if there's an ignore button and a report botton and i'd hit either or both before i'd hit quote TBFH at this stage.

Stressed ourra me box with yiz, where's Fran ta lash me ourra it. :p

Darren has displayed loyalties to Aido, Elmo, and Tommy in the past so i expect he'll continue to do likewise but he is becoming disillusioned with Nidge. The money owed to him is hanging like a dark cloud. I expect them all to conspire against Nidge before the series ends. Fran will start to play them all off each other i think and use it for his own personal gain in the long run.

Elmo interestingly has sold Darren out on two occasions yet is still alive. Very very significant. The plot thickens.

Darren was mad last night letting Elmo away - he clearly sold him to the uncle! He was 'ratted'. Have to feel sorry for Elmo, especially with the Mrs and the kid :(

I can see Dano getting to Elmo and Elmo telling them that it's all a set up by Nidge, shur he knew that when Darren was after him in the pub and left him off.

You don't like the show, we get it. Your posts on the other thread (whether intentional or not) derailed the thread and resulted in it being closed - not really fair for the people who like the show and want to discuss it.

This thread is heading down the same track, so I respectfully ask that you stop nitpicking and let those who enjoy L/H discuss it in peace, thanks.

TBH at this stage i think darrens caught with elmo.

i think he WANTED to clip him last night, but as nidge said if he did that it'd get the RA heads supsicious and he already has a hard enough time with the cops after him.

i think elmos on thin ice and wont make the end of the series as he's pushed his luck too far. darren may even sell him out to the RA heads in the hope dano loses the plot and kills him before getting any info out of em.

still with the lads from the north coming down next episode it could go either way now.

    Thought.

Episode 2 closes with Fran looking out over to where the body is buried on his land.

They dig it up last night and Nidge is appalled by the smell and looks away.
Fran jumps straight in and does the donkey work before using the digger to bring the body bag over to the fire.

OR,.. Maybe Fran already moved the body and left a rotting animal carcass in place of it and now he is the only one who knows where the body is really buried?

Or maybe I'm reading way too much into it!
    :D

The amount of abuse about me actually having an opinion is what derailed the thread, I did my best to ignore it on this thread. But no censure for those who have nothing to hurl but personal abuse?
I never said at any point on either thread, that 'I don't like the show'.
If you can't discuss the merits, flaws and good points of a series on a television forum, then, what the hell? Perhaps add, 'only for adoring and uncritical fans' to the thread title. It will avoid the confusion that this is a discussion thread in the Arts section of the site. I'll leave them to the unfettered adoration. Don't bother banning me (it seems as predictable as Dano's characther arch tbh :), I'll go elsewhere in my search of adults.

I actually thought the exact same thing. Fran is definately not panicking anyway whatever the case.

Nidge, Dazzler and Fran are safe for this season I reckon, Aido as well. Elmo and Tommy not so much, Tommy is interesting though with all the smart moves he makes lol. I could see Nidge either being clipped in Season 4 or maybe even doing time? Road is open then for Fran the man to take charge.

If people keep getting killed either they've figured out the time line for the entire series or they need to start introducing new people. I'm doubtful the latter will happen, given how much time is needed to build characters in the core group like we're watching at the moment.

I have to agree with you here. They need to start introducing some other people soon. But then again they have introduced the RA characters quite quickly so it's not impossible to do.

Now, who will survive series 3.....mmmm?

Tommy might.. although he's in a tight spot as he's messin around with Mrs Hot RA and Nidge is not too happy with him for a whole host of reasons and this latest indiscretion just complicates his life a bit more.

Dazzler is in danger too, although not necessarily from the obvious sources.

    1. Elmo's uncle wants him dead but they sent a 12 year old on a bike to kill him ffs ! No real danger there.

    2. Damo RA man doesn't know that it was Dazzler who plied his dad with a drink keg to the head, but he's bound to find out sooner or later. Medium risk of danger.(only because Damo is a thick).

    3. Nidge is getting jumpy about the whole thing and doesn't want to part with blood money so he would like to see Darren out of the way. Medium risk here, but it depends if Damo can be got rid of.

    4. The Gardai want to speak with Darren but if they had approached the apartment with a bit more subtlety they would have had their man easy enough. No danger here.

    5. Lizzie Skanger RA bird. She represents the greatest danger to Darren.
    Why?

    a. She has the hots for him...big time. Obsessed even. Picture on phone.
    b. She knows too much about the hits.
    c. While he likes her, she wouldn't score highly enough on his 'totty-ometer' in the same way that Ruth Negga did or say even Tommy's Siobhan who he made a special risky effort to see last night. In short Lizzie ain't got the x-factor for Darren. She eventually finds that out and when he gets involved with someone else (Siobhan maybe?) hell hath no fury etc and she seeks him out...with a gun.

He survives though but with a bullet lodged in his groin or some such place.

    Queue season 4.

I 100% agree with your post but on the highlighted lets just be clear that Tommy boy is as thick as sh*t and doesnt do logic whether drunk or sober. The amount of cock ups he has made over the years im amazed he is still alive tbh
Being an idiot doesn't seem to hurt many lads chances with the ladies IRL either... just look at the amount who'd throw away everything for a night with David Beckham....
    Happyman42 wrote: »
Which is the inherent and damaging confusion in the writing.
Which is it? A strong and influential organisation or just another gang of thugs. The series seems to want to have it both ways when it suits the narrative. As I say, it will be interesting to see where it goes from the introduction of the McGinley character. I fear another batch of stereotypes.
Another gang of thugs. But one with more members than Nidge's small-time drugs operation, a far higher concentration of out and out psychopaths and with the association in it's very name to a long feared terrorist group.

Just like Tommy and the girls, thugs don't need to be clever or organised to be dangerous. Especially to a group engaged in activities those thugs have had little tolerance for in the past...

That said, I still can't see Nidge surviving the series. He's becoming less and less likeable as a character and is running circles around himself trying to keep on top of things. My money says Darren kills him. We all know Alan Ryan Danno can't survive long either...

    1. Elmo's uncle wants him dead but they sent a 12 year old on a bike to kill him ffs ! No real danger there.

Only for Lizzie warning him before the youngster fired the gun, Darren was well and truly f*cked. Never underestimate anyone carrying a weapon, even a spotty kid on a bmx.

    5. Lizzie Skanger RA bird. She represents the greatest danger to Darren.
    Why?

    a. She has the hots for him...big time. Obsessed even. Picture on phone.

If Ruth Negga's character was to return which she is rumoured to be doing so, then we could see a whole new more sinister side to Lizzie. If she harmed Rosie then it could be all out war between Darren and the RA.

I think Elmo could end up brokering a deal with the RA and double crossing one or two of the gang yet.

From what I know of her, she started out in the local youth theatre, and worked her way up to TV. I *think* she focusses on TV now, though I'm not sure.

She graduated from the gaiety school of acting in 2008, Has since gone on to do loads of stage work around Ireland and England. My daughter is currently in the gaiety and said the teachers always knew she (Charlie Murhpy) would make it...

    Great episode last night.

Favourite line was from Aido: “D’yis want me ta f*ck off?” when Lizzie drops in to visit Darren at the flat.

In so many other RTE commissioned shows the script would have been “Do you want me to go out for a while”

Yer one with the blue body paint keeping on the fake ears during/after being with Fran was gas as well. What were they – smurf ears or something?

Loved last night's episode. I'm a newcomer to Love/Hate. Heard all the hype from Season 1 & 2 but hate starting a new TV series without seeing it from the start. I just happened to see Season 3 Episode 1 and have been hooked since. I managed to get a loan of the Season 1 box set so I am going to try and get season 2 next. Can't wait!
I'm watching season 1 now as i only caught the last episode when it aired....it's far better than i thought and i'm really enjoying it! It's certainly takes the edge off waiting for the next ep of S3!

Scene of darren almost getting shot by the lad on the bike was appalling

Handguns aren't that accurate in the first place (they've been Hollywood-ised like many other things), then look at who's shooting it, a young kid probably never done it before nervous as fúck and out of breath from cycling. A spray and pray attack, spray bullets and pray you hit something. Semi automatic firearms can jam, a revolver would be more reliable but less ammo capacity, gun could also have been badly maintained.

A gun is only as good as the person using it.

from his own gaff an all.

aido's definetly getting the sympathy treatement so far this season. certainly the only one to not do anything overly objectionable . elmo had that too but he's taking the piss now after selling out his cousin and setting up darren.

i'd actually be annoyed if aido got clipped right now.

on the tommy issue, he's a henchman !

if he was smart he'd be too much of a threat to nidge. something nasty may be laying in wait for him yet -but thick is as thick does - so i dont see him easing up on the cock up front yet.

i AM looking forward to nidge finding out about him slipping one to Mrs HotRA as it'll be comedy gold when nidge goes full on hypocritcal as he'd be in like flint if he got the chance

    :D

Was absolutely dying from a wedding the night before when I was watching the show last night and that scene almost made me go to the shops for a loaf of bread and some sausages... laziness got the better of me though!

Show is getting better and better all the time. I was expecting a type of "Fugitive" chase scene once Darren got on the Luas, cops going from car to car during stops.

Tommy and Nidge characters seem to heading down a downward spiral after each episode. Definetly would think that one of their characters is going for a trip to the Dublin Mountains.

McGinleys character will add another dimension. A more tactical player will see the bigger picture and may see Nidges contacts more useful than Danos brute actions and drinking habits. Git is dead, Danos only a wild pup to him. Nidge won't be able to fool him with sleeping pills.

Frans character is simply a joy to watch, you wouldn't think so when he was feed debtors to his dogs in Series2, his dialogue is A1. His gentle probing (verbally) of the avatar girl to finally string it out of her that she knew about the rape was very clever. He's a character thats been there in the backround all the while but in reality he wants to be a major player and isn't a dummy. Also Nidge indirectly killed his missus!

Darren i feel will either make a major play or mistake in the next episode, very hard to predict what will happen with his character. Lizzie definetly could be a saviour if cornered or could have the opposite effect.

Cracking show! Great Dialogue, great acting, Protrays the Dublin city so well as a bright yet cold European city with pockets of poverty in which crime and drugs thrive.
