Well at this point last season we were doing better than we are now.

Last seasons league finishing position was very poor. A substantial disimprovement on it this season would be horrendous. Pretty straight forward really.

Yes that is true but you are making an assumption with how we will probably finish this season.

We could have said the same thing at this stage last season and look how terribly that went.

I don't understand how you can be so vocal against Rodgers in things which have been an issue since Kenny.

I think it's safe to say that no one is particularly happy with where Liverpool are but we have every chance of challenging for 4th still and with Lucas coming back.

Just give him a season, actually give him half a season at least before the pitchforks come out!

We'll get 60 points this season lads.

    Just worked it out.

However this hinges on Suarez staying fit and scoring as he has been :D

I think you and me both know we will not finish the season with 1.2ppg average - and our results over the last month are testament to that. That's just silly hyperbole.

The problem with you Alan is that there's no middle ground. For years you were overly positive about absolutely everything Liverpool, to the point that you almost become a parody of yourself.

Now, you have become unreasonably negative before the team has even played 15 league games. Think about that for a second - this team has only played 13 league games. In the grand scheme of things, that's nothing.

How many games did Hodgson play in total?

I have no idea how the season will pan out. Maybe we'll do some good business in Jan & give a real challenge for 4th. Maybe Suarez will go through a drought & get an injury & we'll finish comfortably in the bottom half.

All I'm saying is that, thus far our season has been very poor & it's got to improve for Rodgers sake.

If we finish in below 10th this season I think anyone sensible would recognise that Rodgers position will be in danger.

7 points down at same stage actually and a few days later liverpool would lose lucas their best player up to this point and then the suarez verdict followed quickly after.....its akin to rodgers losing suarez and then sterling in the next week or so for a long period

Sorry but i have to call BS on that. Lucas was very important to us last season, his loss was huge but nowhere even close to losing Suarez would be this season. And the Suarez verdict didnt follow until the end of December IIRC.

Surely its only a matter of time before one of the CL sides come sniffing around Suarez. A world class player like him usually ends up with a CL side before long. Hopefully Arsenal put in a cheeky bid in January.

Roy Hodgson thought he had a long term position. Results & league position made his position untenable. Rodgers is doing worse than him & is benefiting only from his greater handling of the PR side of things.

Rodgers himself has spoken about how he is aware that despite the project being a long term one, results in the short term have to be good enough for fans/owners to back his vision. It's incredibly naive if you can't recognise that.

    Idiotic to compare their tenures.

Rodgers did what previous managers failed to address - recognised that our squad was too old and needed rebuilding.

If you think the only reason Rodgers is thought of higher than Hodgson you are beyond help. Stupid, stupid comparison. The football we are playing now is on a different planet to Hodgsons, even if things aren't always working out.

Rodgers has made sure that, even if he is turfed out, the squad is young and full of potential. Compare that to what Roy did to the club. Stupid comparison.

Read the Arsenal/United match thread from a few weeks ago for a good laugh.

Or get him to explain the offside rule.

Just because of the day thats in it.

In the first 13 games of his final season, Rafa had 20 points, out of the CL and out of the League Cup by this day in 2009. That included 5 losses.

BR has 16 points. 3 losses.

I dont recall too many people calling for Rafas head in November 09.

C'mon Alan, scraping the barrell now.

Hodgon was sacked for his playing style and direction he wanted to take club.

Signing Konchesky and bypassing midfield had the senior players upset and he was never a fit at LFC.

    Very poor comparison.

Take the last 3 league results in isolation, compared to last season.

    12/13..............................................PTS
    Chelsea 1 - 1 Liverpool..........................1
    Liverpool 3 - 0 Wigan Athletic ................3
    Swansea 0 - 0 Liverpool........................1

    11/12
    Chelsea 2 - 1 Liverpool..........................0
    Liverpool 1 - 2 Wigan Athletic .................0
    Swansea 1 - 0 Liverpool.........................0

Agreed. But I don't believe we will finish in the bottom half. There's plenty to be positive about at the moment. There's clearly some serious flaws in the team, but lets give Rodgers a chance to rectify them before we get the pitchforks out.

Re: Hodgson - I have no idea how many games he was in charge for. Too many. All I know is that under him, we played horrible football, I never felt like we were moving in the right direction, and he made no meaningful connection with the fans or the club.

Funny how you gave Kenny a pass for the league performances when Lucas got injured.

Who will finish ahead of us?

West Brom and Everton don't have the squad. We seen what Spurs are like last weekend. Newcastle are in the relegation area. No offense lads but yous wont finish 4th either. We may even finish 3rd again with Benitez in charge at Chelsea.

All I'm saying is Suarez is in his peak and a world class player. Wont be long before the likes of City, Barca, Madrid pick him up. Hopefully we get in first though badly need a striker.

No I didnt? I said our league form was poor after he got injured & our league finishing position was poor?

Arsenal won't pay Suarez wages. Case closed.

The only way he will go to Arsenal is if he fancies a move to Barca, and ends up being part of that deal where you sell them your best player at the end of the season.

Joining Arsenal:rolleyes:....that's a sideways move if ever I seen one.

Pretty sure he'd go to a team who actually win trophies.

So you can sell him to Utd?

He could be the difference between not winning trophies and us winning trophies though.

Less than 6 points but more than 4 away from 5th position.

Double yawn and a stretch at Mr Alan coming in here only when he thinks he can have a pop.

To be honest, I am getting increasingly sick of people like your self blindingly saying that everything is ****ing rosy and taking pops at Alan or Lloyd for having an opposing view. Both have been consistent in their views and to be honest, they are closer to the truth than most of the planks posting complete nonsense here!

Today's result, in the context of us playing a way from home and Swansea actually being a good team, was grand. The performance was pretty poor but ultimately, it is about results.

In the context of it being about results, we have been largely ****e. Yes, we are getting better but our results have been nowhere near good enough.

While I am willing and eager to give Rodgers time, I wish he would keep his trap shut and focus on improving things. Once he has done that and the minnows of the Premier League stop seeing us as a soft touch, he can say and claim whatever the **** he wants.
