Today I replaced a dipped headlight bulb which blew yesterday.

Now can the other bazillion drivers with a blown bulb please do the same?

    Thank you.

I saw a Corolla the other day with one full beam and one fog light on, driving through an estate.
I was left with a burnt retina and a jumbled mind.

Was to take someone to hospital but they had a cold so couldn't go. So made use of the day since I'd booked the day off work. Just finished servicing the Wife's Focus, fresh oil, oil filter and sparkplugs. I'd gotten a different brand of airfilter (used diff motor factors than the usual) and the thing wouldn't fit. 1/4 of an inch too long. So cleaned the old one and put it back in for now.

That Demon Shine stuff is actually impressive, today's the first day that the suns been out since Sunday when I used to stuff and the car is looking class. It's been over a month since I had the hd wax on mine, and it still looks bloody fantastic. So a thumbs up from me.

Lowered the front to its final setting after allowing everything to settle. Went to lower the rear but the adjuster keeps turning with the perch, so need to go at it again come the weekend with the spring compressors. Needed to check clearance reversing into the driveway ...

... it's pretty close :D Still an inch of thread left too.

    Yes :P

This pin regulates how much diesel is injected by moving up and down, allowing the fuel pin to move in or out in accordance with boost on or off. Aimed at compensating diesel pre boost. By rotating it you can unleash a lot more power as a result or rotating the star wheel down so there is less pressure on the diaphragm spring :)

I has a spare one if I balls it up :)

No tech like low tech :P

Today I resprayed my whipper arms and gave my car a wash.

Bitta cling film to stop paint getting on my paint.

Sand down the metal, using a higher grit sand paper each time.

Give it a rattle and whack on a few light coats of paint.

    Nice and easy. :D

The car wasn't too filthy but this'll give you an idea, the white wheels were covered in ****e though.

It was dark by the time I was done, no pics. :(

NCT's tomorrow, bar the wheel stud and the washer bottle I think I should be alright.

    Why didn't you use newspaper?

My house is weird, we generally don't have news paper around.
My dad just throws out everything he sees really.

The cling film work handy enough though, no over spray. :)
Also, if anyone else is using rattle cans, olive oil will take paint off your hands way better than soap. ;)

Or just take the arms off. They're what' 1 bolt each?

Might not have the appropriate spanner or set of sockets.

Get a set from santy :pac:

    You guessed it.
It was an impromptu thing, I was cleaning out my interior and I found the sand paper and paint in my glove box.

I could have driven down to my OH's to get a lend of tools but sure, I had the cling film. :D

Nice job with the cling film Cian but you have to make sure the paint is dry before moving it. THat's why masking tape is slightly porous.

Also, if anyone is painting their calipers or any awkward to mask area, tin foil is your best option.

Hmm, probably didn't leave it long enough to let it dry properly actually. The paint does dry pretty quick though. <10 minutes.

I was half thinking about tin foil actually, didn't hand to put even more scratches on my bonnet though. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,919 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

NO, you wouldn't use tin foil on painted surfaces, just on brake discs and that kind of thing. Also you'd want to make sure that you don't use the cling film when the sun is out or you may never get it off the car

Yikes! No fear of that today anyway. A Balmy 9 degrees with cloud cover. :p
I must tackle my calliper next actually. Silver I'm thinking.

As much as I'd love a new back box I think that'd just be sinking money into it for no reason. The standard one is uuuugly!

    Nice whippers dude! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,919 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

If I were you, I'd only do stuff like calipers on that car and save your money for a better car next time 'round. You'll never see it back if you start modifying the almera and even at that, it just won't benefit from any "performance" mods.

That the idea, the wheels will be coming across to my next car I'd say, that'll be the only real mod it'll get unless I do end up keeping it for a track car.
I'd say even with a massive turbo that engine would only see tiny increases in power. :P
Performance is not a high priority with this yoke. Haha

That's what they all say.... :pac::pac::pac:

On a side note, I used to have a set of Kazera kz somethings. They went to a chap with a Pulsar, suited it better. Try source out a set, they're dirt cheap for cheap flash :)

Implying there's something wrong with my genuine 5-Zigens? :p

I have a feeling that with a bit of money I'll end up collecting wheels like you collect cars.
I'd love to pick and choose which set to use for the week.

Noting atall! Just handy to have different wheels with different tyres :)

Ah I know, I'm only messing.
If I could fine one of these* I'd be happy. It would be dead handy to have winter tyres if it did get nasty this year.

*Not actually sold, just on stand by.
