    166?

Yep! A truly wonderful car to be in :)

A certain regular poster on motors went a little green when I first revealed what I had got :pac:

Looks fantastic, good luck with it.

That same poster wouldn't have 666 in their poster name no?
You didn't buy it from a bloke in Swords by any chance?
Btw I know I've thanked your posts, but thanks for your patience this evening, I'm very very slowly learning :)

Well this poster's username starts with a 1, ends with man and has some numbers in between :pac:

Nope, bought it in Dun Laoighre from Paschal Kennedy Motors, it was taken in as a trade in, had 4 months NCT, nasty dent at the back, sold as seen. They were happy to see me getting it, they didn't particularly want to see it broken up :)

No bothers, I'm just happy to know I've helped out in some way or another :)

To the land of snoozy I go! :D

Lovely coming in from work to a few pages on this thread about Alfa's..:)

Stheno - Put your man in his place, don't let him drive your car. My sister will be learning to drive over the next few months and won't be touching mine because she wouldn't treat it properly and would wreck it...:o:pac:

dgt - Can I has your 166? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :pac:

166, given your tender age, I've decided not to rail about your blunt approach to relationships.

Instead, I am going to take the car to the mechanic tomorrow as part of dropping of the OH's C5 whose electric windows he has murdered. As part of that I am going to ask my mechanic (who has the patience of a saint, but who equally is happy for me to source parts) to show me the workings of my engine and the throttle body so I can take pics for dgt.

I am then going to explain the problem in front of OH and get mechanic to agree that it's OH's driving style but when my car is in for it's service in the next month he will check it.

After he checks it, and finds no problem I will gloat at OH and cause him to buy me dinner.

If after he checks it and concedes that OH's heavy foot has identified a problem in advance I will buy OH dinner.

And no you can't have dgts 166, I have a donor 156 I was going to offer dgt if there are any parts in common he can use and he has the means to transport the 156

Stenho: do keep us updated with how the service goes :) cheers for the offer on the 156, alas the 166 is a compleyely different car and very few bits interchange :( but thanks again! :)

pred racer: It's something I should get! But it would be a fortune at my age.... :( Instead I'm going to wait till it's 15 years old and try get classic insurance, on both it and the BMW

LOL :D Mechanic agrees that OH's driving is that of a goon :D, he was a bit kinder than that though :)

He has other uses though so I'll continue to overlook it.

Got a window switch for his car, so now the window actually shuts :D

On another note, the 166 seems to have attracted a new resident :D

A very fluffy but small kitten, randomly appeared the other day and seems to be staying around the Alfa!

Have to clean him up well first :)

dgt, why didn't you just pay by card over the phone over whatever?

Seems to be a whole lotta hassle for something do simple, no?

Cheapest fully comp insurance wasn't an online offer :) I exhausted a lot of options though :p

I enjoy a good challenge now and again :pac:

Bring him to a vet and get him checked out dude. Probably fine but if he's been hanging around he could be flea ridden. Did you check with your neighbours to see if someone's missing him?

Twas thinking that alright as he was scratching now and again

I highly doubt anyone else apart from ourselves and my uncle 2 doors down have cats. Everyone else has dogs...

First time in a while we had a kitten up here :)

The only problem he mentioned is that it's a bit tappety after starting but idles fine after it heats up. I wonder if this is an issue? RJ?

Going to give the insurance a ring anyway to see what the story is there.

K4s can be noisy enough from cold but not overly tappety as such, VVC M echanism can by noisy....aka the rattle of death :pac:

That's too allow space for my gf to park in front of me :D
If you're talkin to them, tell them not to be so selfish, or there will be an abusive note on the windscreen :pac:

Also, I rang jerry Hurley about repairing my car, says he was too busy and couldn't recommend anyone else!

I'll pass on the message :D
What were you asking JH to do?
