Just re-watched the trailer, noticed another blimp in it at about 1:29 when all 3 of the guys meet for the first time, think it is safe to say they haven't removed them from the game, not yet anyway.

Hopefully with the raid style missions, you will have access to different uniforms meaning that you can walk into secure area's without alerting the authorities

I think you guys are being a bit dismissive of my character complaints btw. The Michael character is not the same as shown in the first trailer, he's not the badass(going by the second trailer) that he appeared to be in the first one. He looks out of shape and generally not someone to be feared. IMO he also doesn't suit the fun world they're going for. Too old.
Franklin to me looks like a boring version of CJ. I dunno what they're thinking with the polo and the t-shirt underneath, makes him look like a dork.
And lastly the redneck. I'm just not sold on him at all on first impressions, both the appearance and character.

The Michael character fair enough at least is something new and I'd have to wait for the game but the two other characters could have been better utilsed. I personally don't think the crazy guy is a good choice for a protagonist. I suppose being young I want to relate to the characters I'm playing as.

Franklin who to me seems middle class would have worked better as a Latino to feel a better sense of belonging to the streets and also be the rags to riches story which looks to be missing from this game. The American Dream is a overdone you could say but its the whole point of GTA. Fair enough diverge away from it directly but if they were gonna go with 3 leads one should have been able to work their way up.

"boring version of CJ", because all those black lads must be similar

What does it matter what race he is in a crime game? Another borderline racist comment. Honestly not sure if you are all there or just trying to troll.

The first time I've ever been called a racist, I'd be offended..if we weren't talking about GTA.....

Your point doesn't even make sense anyway. How is that anyway borderline racist?

I wanted to be a Latino, is that too much to ask for?

Too much to ask for? No.

    Too much to expect? Yes.

Too much to be acting surprised that the rest of us are not criticising the characters until we've played the damn game? Absolutely.

Give the reasons for wanting to be a Latino over a black or a white guy and I'll consider the racist comment.

I personally wanted to be an Asian guy because they're all really good at Karate and Kung Fu. Right?

Guys, ease off a bit. Discuss the points raised in a civil manner or not at all.

    1. Why would Michael be a badass? He's out of ''the game'' (for the time being...) and living it up in a mansion. Lying around his pool with a drink and cigar gave this impression.

    2. Who cares what Franklin is wearing? You'll be able to change his clothes anyway.

    3. Trevor is brilliant.

    4. ''The other two characters could have been better utilised.'' What? We don't even know how they're going to be utilised yet.

    5. I don't think Franklin is middle class. He says he's tired of ''slinging dope and throwing up gang signs'' or something to that effect. Maybe he aspires to be middle class.

Based on Pelican Bay Prison and after a quick google, there are some similarities in the design alright. The thing though is that it's way north of San Francisco let alone Los Angeles. Stress that I'm not saying San Fran is in the game, but it's interesting noting the location of the prison IRL. I'm still banking on Rockstar revealing something that will blow our minds though and hasn't been revealed in the trailer.

Oh and there looks to be an airfield of sorts in that pic of Trevor parachuting out of the jeep from plane too.

Id say its more like California State Penitentiary which is just north of Los Angeles. It mightnt actually look like that prison particularly but the location of it seems obvious.

Look it up on Google Maps

EDIT: Beaten to it by Equium

Harsh enough pulling racism out of that comment imho

One thing I'd like them change is to make the cops more realistic.

Now, I've never been to the States, but I can't imagine that too many police officers around Central Park are carrying full on assault rifles in the middle of the day...

Unfortunatly it is quite realistic, heavily armed NYPD officers are dotted around all the major tourist attractions, and transport hubs. Google "NYPD Counterterrorism"

Did you relate to Claude? How about Tommy? Or CJ?

They said Michael is in the witness protection program, so it's probably not his real name.

Of them CJ was my fave character because I like that era and what he represents.. I wasn't the biggest Tommy fan because I'm not really into that type of protagonist. Claude looking back was boring(prob the fact he was a mute) but I was too young and I mean back then the game was so mindblowing to care. He fits the young lead role though.

In effect I don't like being the anti-hero which these characters look to represent. Niko was in this mould but had the immigrant story which I enjoyed. I prefer being the good looking, young and in their prime guys like CJ, but that's just me.

I think we should play the game before really judging the characters and Rockstars work. All we have is 3 minutes of video, a few pictures and a hell of a lot of assumptions.

You and me are complete opposites, I hate playing those types of perfect people. Bloody wrecks my head because its too hollywood.

Well that's the crux of it. Even Michael, from trailer 2 he's looked to have changed a bit, in the artwork he looks like a late 30 something sporty young dad kinda guy while in the trailer he looks to me to be older and more small joe pesci type figure. I think rockstar have decided to not go in the Hollywood route.

You do realise that Rockstar are still developing the game and can change their minds as to what they do in relation to characters etc. You have played demos where it says "May differ from retail version"?

I was only thinking this to myself yesterday. He looks far older in the trailer. This doesn't bother me, I am looking forward to playing with him. (eh, you know what I mean)

EdenHazard, you should check out The Ballad of Gay Tony. Luis Lopez might be exactly the type of character you're looking for, and both DLCs are well worth playing. Should be fairly cheap to get the Episodes from Liberty City

Personally, I much prefer the anti-hero types with cool stories. I think the whole "going from rags to riches" storyline has been done. My favourite GTA protagonist would actually be Johnny from The Lost and Damned. I really enjoyed both the character and his story.

Dam right they didnt, how often do you see young, good looking criminals who are in their prime. If they were to take that route its would be taking things too seriously and trying to stick to the hollywood agenda. GTA doesnt do plain.

Watched Heat last night. Cannot wait for these robbery missions. Id bet my house on it that they will replicate both robberies from Heat. Its gonna be so good.

I just think a Latino version of CJ would be exactly that, a Latino version of CJ. We've already had that story, in the same city no less. The fact that the three new protagonists are guys you probably wouldn't choose to play as is what might just make them brilliant. You get to see new stories with types of characters you haven't played as before.

A mixture of the bank job from Vice City (planning the job) and the bank job from GTAIV (f*cking mayhem afterwards)... I'm in. Sounds amazing. The bank missions were one of my favourite parts from Vice City, and the bank mission in GTAIV was probably the best mission. Could be absolutely fantastic.

So I am thinking of buying a spanking new tv for this game. I have a 40" Samsung that is about 3 years old. Its fine, but I always thought GTA4 looked awful on it.

Anyway, with them lovely new LED tv's with 100hz and 200hz etc I am thinking it may just work well as a new gamer tv.

    Am I mad? yes.

EDIT: Ok, I realise it won't improve on the graphics technology but it may sharpen things up a little.

Exactly. LA is a huge city with millions of people of different backgrounds and ethnicities. Let's have something different from our heroes.

EdenHazard would hate my vision of an LA-based protagonist. It would be half Larry David, half Michael Douglas in Falling Down. Now that's a game I wanna play.
