Oh don't worry I know I'd never get half the money back on the things I bought I was merely putting it down so as to give a more detailed view :)

If I really wanted to sell I probably would take the offer but I'm not very pushed, it's not even on donedeal :pac:

    @redisle....wtf :D and that's a model of a 500 Abarth :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,848 ✭✭✭Redisle

I've never looked close enough to see the model! :pac:

I park in the same area btw, walk past your car most days.

What car are you driving? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,848 ✭✭✭Redisle

Just a crappy Corolla. Was going to replace it a while back but decided to wait until I get a real job (next year) and get something decent instead!

166man - when was your last ban up?

I have so many at this stage...:pac:

It was up after a week I think it was... RJ has been gone quite a bit longer, think he got a month actually. Should be back soon. :)

ok just got a serious offer of 4.5k for the astra.

some people know what it looks like and its condition in general.
    45k miles
    05 1.8
    cruise control
    climate control
    full opc line kit
    eibach pro kit
    vxr shocks all round
    nct til march
    tax til may
    good sound system
bought it for 4.2k in May 2011 and have put about 1.5k into it.

what would be a fair price do ye think?

That's great money to get for it tbh. That car is seriously well sorted, but even still I doubt you'd get all that much better.

Lads, I need your help once again.

Im going to lower the car and i am just so confused...

Was just going to get h&r springs and use the stock dampers but now im reading this will be a waste of time.

Then i was thinking about apex rdx coilovers, any opinions on these?

Or just any advice in general?? I use back roads daily so want to keep some comfort.

Gary ITR, what would you recommend man?? You seem to know about this crack!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,090 ✭✭✭✭Drummerboy08

Your back will be wrecked with coilovers, and unless you spend a fair chunk of money they'll be sh1te.

I had this predicament with a MK4 GTi earlier this year, and went down the road of a H&R Cup kit. That's what I'd be doing again if I had to, get the kit with comfort springs and the car will look well without crashing and banging everywhere.

    What he said ^^^^ :pac:

Coilovers are really for function over anything else. For a road car the h&r cup kit is the job, I was impressed with bummerboys kit, I had coilovrs in a road car and as good as they were I'd never do it again. Good coilovers cost a packet and using them on the road will ruin them

    So h&r cup kit then??
around 600 quid i think is it??
This car is costing me a fortune lol!
Are the springs useless on there own then?

I prefer to match the springs and dampers myself, using just springs puts a lot of extra hardship on the dampers and you'll probably end up having to replace them

Ya that seems to be the general opinion.
i doubt my dampers would be fresh at this stage either...

How about this either? seems decent value

Dachau was an experience to say the least, have some very spooky memories of that place.

    Standing inside a gas chamber!

I was there too, it had a very strong effect on me (very unusual for me) ill never go to another one!

Mine was €450 plus fitting from alloywheels.ie, didn't think the price was much different for the mk5.

Springs on there own are pretty useless, they'll just put too much pressure on the dampers and the car will handle like a barge.

It's one of those places I'm glad I've been to and I think everyone should go to one to see and feel what happened to ensure it never happens again.

As you said though, I won't be back.

Strangely enough, Chernobyl is on my list of places to visit

It was the big never again sign, i was very nearly in tears.
Like you I'm glad I went, but I wont be back either, its like all that misery is still there inside the fence:eek:

No, had to ring joe and reschedule, my intake isn't fitted yet, the mechanic won't get it done for me. Half tempted to just get a panel filter and be done with it tbh

I was chatting to joe earlier and asked if he was tuning a mk5 tomorrow and he said 'i dunno, could be' lol

Would you not have a go at fitting the intake yourself?

Dunno if you've seen it, but there is a great thread in AH from a guy who went there
