edit: In the Times apparently, has to do with Zeus Capital and Richard Hughes, not with Green and not with the club.

Hughes is a minority stake holder, that's all.
Aye its probably nothing, let it slide.

What is with Rangers and having ethically challenged businessmen as stakeholders? :pac:

    http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/2566-club-statement

The Board of The Rangers Football Club has issued the following statement today:

It reads: “The Board wishes to express its dismay over articles in The Times newspaper today which implies the Club is “in fresh trouble” with HM Revenue and Customs in relation to an investor in the Club.
"This is categorically not the case and the Chairman of the Club has written to The Times on this matter.
“The Rangers Football Club has no outstanding issues with HMRC and indeed the current management have an open and transparent dialogue with HMRC and, in particular, through our auditors and reporting accountants, Deloitte.
“The historic tax issues affecting Rangers (RFC 2012 Ltd which is now in liquidation) are well documented.
"These issues, notably surrounding the EBT scheme, will continue to receive much media coverage, but have no bearing upon the ongoing operation of the football club and its intention to list as a public company.
“We wish to reiterate that Mr Richard Hughes has no involvement in the management of the club, nor is he a director.
"Richard Hughes or his company Zeus Capital, both FSA regulated, are a minority investor.
"The Club does not have an existing relationship with Zeus Partners, which is also named in The Times as being part of an HMRC inquiry.
“It would be inappropriate for The Rangers Football Club to comment further on either the private and professional affairs of Mr Hughes, or the commercial activities of Zeus Partners or Zeus Capital."

Livingston Provide Proof That “The Rangers” Are A New Club

November 2, 2012 by Gordon Johnston

Tomorrow sees the third round of the Scottish Cup, or the William Hill Scottish Cup as I suppose I should call it to give the sponsors their due. Sixteen ties between Scotland’s smaller clubs will take place to see who makes it through to the fourth round draw, where they will be joined by Scotland’s top sixteen clubs from last season.

But the crucial question that should be asked by serious students of Scottish football is perhaps not an obvious one. It is “Who are Livingston playing in the third round?”

    Why is this so important?

Well, have a look at last year’s First Division table. We see that Livingston finished the season in fifth place. Now let’s look at the regulations for this year’s Scottish Cup.

    Round Three

The clubs which, in the previous season, were members of The Scottish Premier League and those clubs finishing in The Scottish Football League First Division league positions one to four, shall be exempt from playing in Round Three of the Competition.

So Livingston should be playing in the third round, right?

Well, no. They have a bye and will enter the competition in the fourth round. But why?

The answer is quite simple. One of the clubs that finished in the top sixteen last season no longer exists. The former Rangers Football Club is now in liquidation and is no longer a Scottish league club.

The spare place in the Scottish leagues was taken by new club “The Rangers” who joined in the bottom tier. And as a third division club they came into this year’s Scottish Cup in the second round. A narrow 1 – 0 win over non-league Forres Mechanics saw them progress and they now have a third round tie against higher league opponents in Alloa Athletic to look forward to.

Now if, as some erroneously claim, “The Rangers” is in fact the same football club as the former Rangers FC, would this be case? Well, no. If the two were indeed the same then, as the rules make clear, a bye to the fourth round would have been secured. And Livingston would have been in the draw for the third round rather than having a weekend off.

So there you are. Proof according to the SFA, which runs the Scottish Cup, that “The Rangers” are not the same football club as former SPL club Rangers FC.

QED as they say. Quod erat demonstrandum.

I am afraid that is wrong but it doesn't matter as people will think what they like.

The inconvenient truth isnt appreciated around these parts

All that matters is that Rangers honours are listed on the SFL website! :pac:

That part could have been said by Mr Craig Whyte himself

It is very important to stress all the money raised will go into the club
Mr Hughes stands to make millions of pounds when Rangers floats on the stockmarket before Christmas

So who to believe - Green or the Times. I can't see an investor with no prior links to scottish soccer would not want to see a serious return on his investment. With no Euro football for at least 3 years the only source of money is the IPO.

The story about Green being investigated by the HMRC came from a tweet by the Rangerstaxcase guy. He's been spot on the for the last couple of years.

There's more fun off the pitch than on it

3-0 up against Alloa now, with some good football being played.

Makes it even more frustrating that they produce performances like the ICT game.

    ICT would thump Alloa tbh

    I would expect they would.

That doesn't change the point that Jelle is making, Rangers' performance on wednesday was abysmal, simple as that.
Today's performance so far has been infinitely more lively, controlled and confident.

It does change his point its easier to be more lively, controlled and confident against a worse team. You didnt play well against a team thats easily a match for the current Rangers side, shock horror!

    Aye Dempsey, that's it.

You won't mind if I value the opinion of someone who knows the team well and watches them on a weekly basis over someone who spends far too much time trolling this thread, will you?

So the quality of the opposition has no bearing on how your own team plays?

You go ahead and value an opinion that ignores the biggest difference between midweek and today though. Sorry for bursting your bubble!

Looks like a nasty one for Argyriou, picking up a ridiulous amount of awkward injuries this season.

My bubble's fine Dempsey, you give yourself far too much credit.

You forget that Rangers have had about a month of poor performances, this culminated in Wednesday's attrocious performance against ICT.
Today has been the best we've seen Rangers play, probably since the Motherwell cup game.

TBH i don't know why i bother talking to you in this thread, you;re not here for conversation.

    Do you agree Dempsey?
I do assume you're watching the game given that you know so much regarding the performance.
