Not only that, but the soundtrack was incredible. Especially on the Super Nintendo version.

God, I want to own this game someday.

*cackles with glee toward my bluray player, citing how much superiour it is to LD*

Also did anyone else read that as Star Trek Trilogy?

You can download hurrican which is the same as Turrican.
    It's a good fix!:)

Great, we have a Turrican fanboi in our midst!
    Welcome to the party pal!
You can join the fanboi line over there, you'll find Boulder Dash addicts, Gradius aficionados and Raiden nuts over there... We used to have a Darius freak but he changed school mid term...

More like what did you nearly get new... I saw a copy of Demons Souls the other day, with all the extras as it's the European limited edition.
Unfortunately I am still waiting to return to kill the Hydra in its big brother Dead Souls, so, the question..
Should I jump in and get it anyhow?
My next current gen game was going to be Spec Ops: The Line.... Bugger!

If you seen Demon's souls black phantom boxed and in good nick snap it up, its excellent for one and you will always be able to move it on :)

Dark Souls has me doubting if the xbox/ps versions will ever be wanted, the frame rate issues really are terrible in Blighttown and i wonder if the PC version will become the one to own in the future. :pac:

Must admit I don't really get the LaserDisc fandom either. Now, if it's just for collection's sake, or to collect rare titles that haven't received a release in other formats, that's fair enough. But Blu-Ray particularly has long since rendered it redundant in terms of quality. There's a LaserDisc vs DVD argument to be had for the audiophile, most certainly, but I just can't see the appeal of picking up titles that have long since enjoyed superior releases. As its not an analogue format, I don't think comparisons to vinyl with audio are justified.

And anyway, for the serious cine/videophile, there's only one nearly redundant format that matters ;)

Funnily enough the audio mixes on some Laserdiscs are still considered vastly better than the mixes we got on DVD and Bluray.

Obviously Bluray audio is technically superior, but like much of the film industry, the audio side of things has been flooded with college-educated clowns who ruin films with ham-fisted mixing and 'remastering'.

So some Laserdiscs are still highly regarded and sought after. There's even people ripping the audio off Laserdiscs and syncing it with the video off Blurays.

Saw a poster for it tonight and would have gone along for the laugh, but alas had already missed it at that point :( It's not everyday you get to see the Federation of The Disco Pimp!

Wow, this long without a post? Alright, I guess I'm gonna have to be the one to show you the Power Rangers tunes that were re-recorded by the man himself, Ron Wasserman.

Anyone played the new Forza horizon yet? Picked it up today and been playing it all day. Really really enjoying it so far! Was a bit skeptical as it's definitely a departure from the original forza formula but definitely a great game. Took a few ingame snaps too.

It's a choice between the excellent Forza Horizon or NFS:Most Wanted, and for the first time I feel drawn to a Forza game, the demo is brilliant.
    Now to trade sh1te in!

My allegiance to Criterion is too strong - when there's only time and money for one arcade racer this holiday season, Most Wanted is the automatic winner. Hot Pursuit was simply glorious, and this sounds like that crossed with Burnout Paradise. **** yes.

Yeah, but Forza Horizon looks like Test Drove Unlimited with extra fun...

That's it basically. Map isn't as big as the TDU games but still a lot to do in it from challenging other racers to race a la Tokyo highway battle. Another pro is that although some of the drives to the races can be a bit long, you never feel it's wasted as you earn points for things like drifting, smashing things, near misses etc. which all add up to your overall rank at the horizon festival.

I am actually, infrequently admittedly, going back into TDU2 and doing some of the missions, a nice game ruined by some awful character models and a less fun driving model than the first one.
I also want to unlock Oahu quickly but there's no shortcut! Arse!

I seem to recall unlocking Oahu very early on! I liked TDU2 but it kinda felt too big in a way. Some of the cars felt a bit slow also.

Took a few more pics of Horizon. This game is way too photogenic!

There's also barn find cars in the game too, where you go find them and then they're restored and added to your garage.

Couldn't afford to buy Horizon on release but have the Limited edition put away for me and will collect by next week hopefully :D
I'm a huge Forza fan but mostly end up spending all my time in the livery editor instead of racing, the livery editor is what sets Forza apart from everything else imo, its just brilliant.
Horizon had my attention the second I heard it was a mix of ex Bizzare, Codemasters, and Criterion guys. those guys on a Forza game with Microsofts moneybags O_o. Take my money!! There is a kind of DiRT feel to the demo that is awesome.

Criterion are heroes and I've been looking forward to them having full NFS control but unfortunately I cant afford everything this year :( stupid joblessness. I'll hopefully pick it up cheap in a few months.

The only thing I dont like about Forza Horizon is the cost, I mean 4000mp for a season pass is steep. I know it includes a 'rally' expansion, but that really should have been included from the get go. I snapped up the seaosn pass for 3 after buying everything for 2 but I cant justify over €40 on a game costing €60 untill I can actually see the content I'm paying for.
Still in saying that I cant wait to take some of my cheesy 80's Irish rally cars for a spin in Colorado :D

It's the legacy of the MSR/PGR team that is a real draw, I believe there is some Kudos in there somewhere, in the form of a trophy/achievement as well.
I never took to the Forza series previously, as track day racing was always a bit meh for me.
This is right up my street, as was Hot Pursuit on the 360/PS3 and, more importantly, the awesome Hot Pursuit on the PS2, man that game was great stuff, and not the Xbox/GC editions, they sucked donkey balls to the xtreme!

Burnout Paradise is still the most fun ive ever had with a driving game

And the famous cars dlc has had a bit of influence on that :pac:

Yeah I wasn't sold on Burnout Paradise until I spent a good bit of time with it around a year ago when everyone got that free month PS+ because Sony gave away all our passwords and CC details ;). It's a beautifully designed game, and the open world design is ingenious and close to seamless. At first at lacks the immediacy of previous Burnouts, but I think the more you explore its quirks the better it holds together.

The only slight disappointment with the otherwise terrific Hot Pursuit was the lack of an open world (even though the map was seemingly linked in many respects). Since they've fixed that in Most Wanted, I cannot wait to play it :) Also, the speedwall is the possibly the best online feature outside of Journey and Dark Souls!

Also, Split / Second is awesome. This cannot be repeated enough.

Thanks man, I used to enter the livery of the week comps and stuff on the Forza website, I liked that they used to give rare cars (unicorns, and box art cars) for prizes, so it was great craic entering and voting and stuff. I remember winning the box art 350z in Forza 2 and having people constantly message me thinking I could sell it :D because it was named differently and everything. Horribly my old hdd failed on the xbox and so its gone forever :'(

Haven't been active over there properly since Forza 2 but once your hooked your hooked :D Great games.

Edit: As for Burnout, I think Revenge was horribly overlooked. It was 3 with some new features but absolutely stunning looking. I put an awful amount of hours into it. I was only going on about how great it was the other day. Wonder if its as good as I remember, I'd like to pick up a boxed copy again. Had Burnout 2 on the cube the other night for some crash levels with a friend which led to a huge burnout discussion. I also miss the walkabout garage that was in PGR I think, was kinda cool talking a wander around your driveway :)

I don't know. I much preferred Blur when it released around the same time.

Get a friend over and turn on Split / Second split screen. The game transcends into something completely different in multiplayer. It's a lot of fun in campaign (barring the absurd rubber-banding, which Blur is equally guilty of) but myself and my friends have long since exhausted Blur multiplayer but keep going back to Split / Second. There's three or four tracks that are just terrific fun, especially when everyone starts knowing them inside out.
