I think they got away with it colm tbh. I thought it'd be way too similar to the Bourne series but it was great. So much to encorporate

its great how much skyfall relates to recent events that happened. Most of the things that happened it the film could bee real life events.

No need for a kettle when you have a heated windscreen. ;)

And Jim, they're only creature comforts anyway, it's all about the engine and handling really. :)

If it's anything important you'd be better of getting it welded, no?

That stuff is useless, I've never in 25 odd years of using glue seen anything that stuff is good on.

Epoxy glue is what you need,

    What metal parts?

Its the plate for the bonnet. I want to de-badge it. Well I pulled off the badge weeks ago, so I need the metal plate to cover the two holes. I'm kinda thinking now though that the heat of the engine will melt the glue and make it sticky and the plate will fall off.

I will have a look for a welder around the neighbor hood. But its very unlikely I will get one. :(

Thanks for the help any way people. :)

Ya, but you see there is like two holes where the badge sits in, so the filler will just crack in the holes.

No it won't. You'll have to get the whole recess of where the badge sits filled anyway.

BW when I debadged the other bonnet I welded a plate into it, ground it down then put filler in. Sanded that down then painted it. Came out well considering the circumstances :)

Ya, That's the exact way I was going to do. I seen it on your thread on FF. Except, I was going to put the plate on the inside.

Inside of the bonnet? You can't

Weld it on the outside in the recess where the badge was and carefully grind down the welds, then fill it in :)

Just wondering why it wouldn't work on the inside?

I will do that so. :)

This is difficult to explain without a picture....

When you take the badge off, there is a recess in the bonnet where he badge sits into.

The badge has to sit into something.

There is no way to weld it on the inside and hope it will come through on the other side.

I'll see if I can get you a pic but if you go out and take the badge off you might understand it better :)

    Now heres a pic
    DSC00657.jpg

    See why that's not possible?

Why the need for a metal plate and not just filler? Is there a big gap or 2 in the recess?

If done wrong it will fall out

    Easier to crack too

The metal plate doesn't have to be too thick, make sure its smaller, sits into the recess and the weld goes around the plate. That way its neater and less to grind off. Cover the glass and other parts of the car exposed to the sparks.

The one thing that let me down was the paint

Ah ya, It didn't look bad at all though, Did you use rattle cans?

    I wasn't happy with the finish :(

Yes I did, had to spray it in the freezing weather, difficult to get the paint to set correctly

    Just came across this:
If a Mclaren F1 traveling at 100 mph went past a stationary Bugatti Veyron, and the Veyron set off at full acceleration as the Mclaren passed, the Veyron would top 200 mph first.

    Holy crap

It really didn't look bad at all on the pics on the FF.

But the rattle cans are alot harder to use then a gun.

I would still have an F1 over a Veyron any day.

It's just so much cooler and way way WAY better looking :cool::cool:
