I got one for a graphics card. Took around a week, AFAIK.

Lads, what would be good value for money right now in low profile graphics cards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,324 ✭✭✭N64

Haha, I actually got the money in my account today. I must say they really have a really efficient RMA processes :D

Sorry, the GTX 650 is a crappy card in terms of price/performance.

Grab a low profile 7750, OP.

I can't remember who, but someone was looking for when the NZXT Hue was released this side of the pond.

    specialtech have it now anyway:

wish I had space for it.

It certainly is not, especially considering you get assasins creed 3 thrown in :)

If anyone wants you buy off special tech, learn from my mistake and don't. Horrendous company to deal with. I ordered on the 7th of October. Was told on the 9th it'd be shipped 10th but nope. The site was wrong for stock level. I had to wait a few more days.So eventually I got it but the clamps were wrong, I contacted special tech on Monday and the told me, they'll ship the clamps right away(monday). So today's Friday and still no clamps. I'm here stuck without a computer.

Everyone has bad experiences from time to time, unfortunately. I've ordered from them three or four times, and also had to RMA a defective pump. They sent me an email of the new pump's dispatch within ten minutes of hanging up the phone. I couldn't recommend them enough. If it's just clamps you're missing, you can use zip ties in the meantime.

Besides, you have 1/2" fittings and 7/16" tubing. I know people that run clampless like that on their main rigs 24/7. Neither solution is ideal, but it does mean you don't have to be without a computer while you're waiting for the clamps to arrive.

    Loses:

    Loses:

    Equal:
    heaven_1920_1200.gif

It's about equal to the HD7750 now:
    perfrel_1920.gif

Buuuuuut... The HD7750 starts from €90, GTX 650 from €120 (HWVS)

How is that good? And by the way the HD7750s price/performance isn't exactly stellar either...

Thanks for the suggestions. Fecker still has to send me his current spec but assuming its decent otherwise I'll have him all set up in time for CoH2(we both love CoH).

    Cheers.

Not recommending it as its an insane price :p, I'm just impressed they could fit a HD7850 onto a low profile PCB.

    http://www.afox-corp.com/en/products_details.asp?proid=209

Given the cooling inside most low profile cases wouldn't be great I'd imagine it would set most of them on fire though :pac:

zip ties? Do people actually use them for watercooling? Surely thats madness when you have such an expensive computer and add to the fact they might slip

You see my problem is that tea bag lives in Limerick, 1hr round trip for me. So I cant just go get my computer and then go back to get it fixed up once the clamps are there.

Yes but most people want GPUs to play games on, not benchmark all day. For actually playing games its a great card. Plus its got PhysX. That would of course affect frame rates; if turned off you would be getting similar fps. Plus if he was planning on buying AC3, hes basically getting the card for 60 euro, 30 quid cheaper than the gimped ATI card that doesnt even allow for full featured games.

I tried to reduce my page file using monos guide, but dont know what to do or not do once I get to the end of the steps, at 'hit change'. Looks like a lot of options in the resulting panel. What should I do?

Untick the box for automatically assigning the size. Select the option for custom size and put in, say, 2000 for 2GB into the maximum size. You can set the initial one as the same or lower. Then press the "Set" button.

2000 or 2048 or does it matter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

Whatever you like. It's only 48MB of a difference anyway so it won't matter either way. There's no need to be exact about it.

Yup, they do. They're fine, and actually a pretty good solution in terms of functionality, they just look wretched. :P

Point taken. Where do you live? Might be closer for you, and I might be able to give you a hand (I'm off this week as well, as it happens).

Im not to pushed about looks at this moment in time, might be somthing to consider. We'll see what Tea bag says about it

Unfortunately Serephucus, im a tipp man.

Why is it that half the people here live in or around Limerick?! Right, well there goes that... So what's the state of it at the moment? Is it assembled, in bits, full, empty, etc.?

I havent heard from tea bag for a bit, Im worried he's done a runner to Mexico

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Ah, didn't realise your computer was sitting at his. Personally I'd say you're fine to run it as-is. If you have a look on OC.net, there's plenty of people there that run 1/2 fittings with 7/16 tubing just because they (wrongly ;)) Think it looks better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

I'm in India so good luck finding me :P

its fully assembled. I'm going to rearrange the loop slightly when the clamps arrive, seeing as I've to drain it anyway :o

the clamps haven't arrived, but I don't think I get post on Saturday. I don't normally anyway. is it standard mail or courier?

on the plus side, its had a solid 3 days of leak testing :o

Specialtech will usually send stuff via DPD to Ireland, so you might get it. Can't remember if they do Saturdays.
