What do you mean a conversion? Like the way in Knight Rider years ago they gave it a convertible option and 300mph boost!?!

No I mean throw out the 318 engine, gearbox and wiring loom and flake in a 325 engine, gearbox and wiring loom! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,925 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

Did you miss the part about the 325 conversion? As I said before I'd like 323/5 first but because there are such slim pickings, if I could get a nice 318 then I would do a conversion.

Also, that rolly eyed face should be kicked out the door!
    Why a convertable?

Also you'd pick up a reasonable e36 for €1500 tbh.

    Bit pricey E36 325i - €2500
    http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/showthread.php?t=36820

Save yourself insurance hassle and just buy a 325, they won't like engine swaps young with little NCB...

No but it wouldn't have helped my post if I quoted that part :P

I hope that turbo blows up in yo face! :pac:

A convertible because I really want one! That is clean looking but itd have to have the updated 98/99 centre console especially after seeing how much it takes to retro install one.
There's a nice red e46 convertible in cork on donedeal, passed me by college too, looks well. But I'm not quite ready to buy yet anyway.
I realise my car is gonna be a bitch to sell on, im thinking of putting it up for sale now just to see what happens, and even then I don't know should I put it up with pictures of the xp lip kit, new headlights etc or just bare enough as it was a few months ago.

    A manual t5 s40 wouldn't be bad either.

Any exhaust place or mechanic thats decent with a welder can do it, but specifically Souhans in Trim will do a pro job.

Pending where your resonator is you could do cut a section out and put in a straight pipe yourself no problem. Use exhaust sleeve clamps and no welding needed and removable. Im going to do it with my Merc at some point.

+1 for Souhans, they did a job on my exhaust for €140 and alfa were looking for about 500 for the part alone.

Incidentally if anyone has any 56 to 60mm exhaust sleeve clamps like these:
    t_20840.jpg

Let me know! Would be easier than cutting up other piping!

    on the topic of exhausts...
the heat wrap on mine is gone.quickest easiest and cheapest fix?car currently sounds like something briggs and straton makey
hole in the wrap the size of a small fist
i think its called the resonator.and by heatwrap im talkin about the kind of woven steel strings that wrap around a kinda flexible bit of the exhaust.apologies if it sounds like verbal diarhea but car exhausts i know little of :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,321 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Usually you can get a new flexible section welded in.

Anyone know where I could get a snow foam lance in Dublin? Would order online but I'd like it for the long weekend.

The lads in detailing shed stock them. They are in Blanch as far as in know. If you get in touch you might be able to collect.

This. Also, they often arrange to meet you somewhere that's convenient for you as long as it's not too far from them :)

A truck went off a bridge on the motorway (A6) just down the road from me today, when I was coming home for lunch the traffic was back as far as the eye could see, just passed again coming home from work, and its still the same:eek:
Loads of guys were well late for the afternoon and night shifts.
Its the main motorway between the south of France and paris and is always busy. The poor froggy buggers!

2 on my own after this year. 2 named years but liberty don't count that the bastards. I'd love either but they're beyond what I'm willing to spend. I could spend up to 13k with my car but I've saved so hard there's no way I'm gonna throw it all on a car.
I'd love a cheap car like an e36 convertible that I could improve, if I got one cheap enough I'd almost pay someone to do a 325 conversion on it. I'll only go up past the 6k mark if it's something cheap to run and slow but still nice....like a fiat 500 :pac:

How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
    3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
