There is a very useful but seriously "don't go there alone" breakers yard near kilshane cross near ashbourne.

You have to remove the parts yourself though. I've gotten alloys there before

I know them..... Eh, I might actually nip in for the craic..... Always scared of getting bitten by a rat when I walk in there though.

Anyone ever pulled apart a 9-5 aircon system before? My only options are cold or hot. Was hoping for something in between! It's only the drivers side so I am going to have to go at the distributing flap mechanism and hope its a simple one.

Beside the tyre place run by their relatives?

I went in there on spec and alone to check out alloys for my old 156 and did a deal, my mechanic nearly had a heart attack when I told him :D

They were grand to deal with tbh

Yeah, cars stacked like tins of beans! They've another place further up the N2 past THe MArriott !

    That's them!

Didn't know they'd another place. They are legal though, apparently you can't stack more than three high!

I got a great price on my alloys there from one of the staff who was not clued in, the owner was disgusted.

    I lolled

They have a serious amount of cars there.

I'd prefer them tbh to Bolands though my favourite scrapper is down in Laois, Whelans, fantastic to deal with.

Just off the M2 up toward the SLane drection they've another place just at the lights on the right hand side.

Never knew that, to be fair to them, I found them ok to deal with, bit intimidating but they knew what they had.

With my current car, scrappers simply cackle down the phone telling me no.

    I'd advise it! :p

I've my test book and I'm waiting for a date, I want to have my own car ready and be used to it by the time it comes around.
It'll mean a bit of borrowing and an "inventive" means to gathering Christmas gifts but sure **** it, I owe to it myself! :D

Never have I wanted a car other than the CityRover, less than this

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4078295

    View2-15128425.jpeg

Faded paint, horrific interior in every way, steel wheels and just generally a foul car in every way. I like a nice spec E90 alright but this really show's the other end of the spectrum for me anyway...

But it's daysul and you get a badge.
Can't beat a BMW, don't mind the rest.

When looking at Paddy's E90, the contrast is mental.

Exactly what I was thinking. Or AFAIK Bazz on here has a lovely '08 318d E90 which looks very well too, compared to the above heap of sh1t.

Must try it out here. If my pass hadn't expired despite being only able to use 200MB in 30 days!

Insurance renewal time, quote of €750ish... Good or bad? 4 years no claims, tpft, cars worth about the same, I'm 22...

Also found out the car was down as an "L" for trim spec, ultimate paddy spec! It didn't even have a rev counter when I bought it!!! Yes yes I know many cars up until the early 90's had no rev counter either

Every Christmas I always end up buying some sort of car as my bday is just under 2 weeks before. Last year was the Alfa, happy freakin birthday to me :D

Is that quote with your usual insurance company? As in would it be cheaper for you to go to a different insurance company, that renew with the same one? If that makes sense.

Yep Liberty. Just wondering what other posters think of that quote, considering the car, age and ncb if it's good or bad...

i have to laugh at all the insurance adds on tv..oh were the cheapest around all that sh¡te.when i was shopping for me first insurance, 5 major companies wouldnt insure me, 1 company wanted me to pay 8,500 quid for a 95 starlet.1.3. 3rd party, no fire or theft.
so the best company i could find wanted 2,400.
a friend noticed my insurance rant on facebook and told me to try first ireland brokers....
    BAM!!
    1400 quid.breakdown cover.non starting cover.windscreen cover.
    monday tuesday happy days B-)

For a 22 year old it seems okish but its only tpft. No harm in ringing around. After 4 years no claims you should be able to get fully comp, it shouldn't be much more than tpft. That if you want it!

OK, just rebooked the car with fastfit for to change the oil + filter and coolant :) should be done tomorrow evening. i'm happy because those are the messy bits i hate getting under the car to do myself :P

so to complete my service, the question is this (and it may be a stupid one)

are the plugs/ leads/ and air filter from a turbo starlet, the same as a non turbo. i'm going to change these myself and anywhere i go, i'm getting "modified" "import" "hard to get parts" lark. despite the fact my car is standard really. so i'd like to just walk into a motor factors and buy bits for a regular 1.3 starlet so as not to upset anyone if that was possible?

You should get in touch with knifey_spoonie and ask him ;)

I know for a fact that the MPS took different spark plugs in its 2.3T engine compared to Mazda's N/A 2.3. The only difference as far as I'm aware is the turbo and ancillaries etc.

I ordered bits for a Turbo Starlet from Southside Motorfactors, I even got dampers from him next day. They're on Kylemore Road in Dublin

Id say those seats will need a valet :D

And a new record today, from roscrea to newlands cross the same wine quasqai
Overtook me 11 times! And my cruise control was set at 135 120kmh all the way:confused:
