Betwixed & between what to get my son from Father Xmas this year, he will be 10 by this year, so its prob the last year of the overweight man in the red suit that breaks into your house, sneaks around looking in the bedrooms checking everyone is asleep, raids the fridge & splits after leaving a gift.

    1) A Vita? He's not massively into handhelds though.
    2) A Wii U? Whats my chances of being able to get one of these for xmas? And also, I'm not overly enthused about another launch console cost v lack of decent games.

That Wii U sounds seriously expensive to me. In the neighbourhood of €400? Was that what the Wii was when it came out? Build yourself him a driving setup with bucket seat, wheel and tv. Give that arcade shed of yours some more attention.
I dont live in Dublin, so any parcel motel is about 120K away from me haha

Same here, any savings using PM is outweighed by the cost of fuel to drive to the feckin nearest depot, not to mention the time wasted. Hopefully they'll open up some locations in the SE.

It will depend where you preorder the WiiU, Gamestop like to force bundles or third party tat and ****ty games on pre-order customers. It's take our bundle or don't get your console.

I haven't used Parcel Motel yet. The TV adverts seem to suggest my parcels will have illicit anonymous sex in the place.

Sega CD was 20 years old yeasterday. I'm in a Lunar mood because of it:

Wishing on a dream that seems far off
    Hoping it will come today
    Into the starlit night
    Foolish dreamers turn their gaze
    Waiting on a shooting star
    But

What if that star is not to come
Will their dreams fade to nothing?
    When the horizon darkens most
We all need to believe there is hope

Is an angel watching closely over me?
Can there be a guiding light i've yet to see?
I know my heart should guide me but
Theres a hole within my soul
What will fill this emptiness inside of me

Am I to be satisfied without knowing
I wish then for a chance to see
    Now all I need,
    Desperately!,
    Is my star to come...

Don't be surprised if you order a GBA and end up getting a GB Micro in the locker as well.

I fail to see why this is a bad thing...

I havent used it yet myself. My current system is that I get packages delivered to my parents in Bray and then travel out every couple of weeks to pick it up in one go. It's like a mini Christmas :)

I live about a 20 minute walk away from a Parcel Motel in Fairview. But the idea of having to go and pick it up every time is a bit annoying.

TLDR version - I am lazy!

Have you ever seen oozing capacitors in console?

That is in fact a sexually transmitted infection from carts with a checkered past being inserted.

Feck it, bit the bullet & pre-ordered the Zombi U pack. Selling the Megadrive 2 yesterday will take a bit of the sting out of it. €380 all in, pricey for sure, but its likely Father Xmas' last visit so I guess why not let him go out with a bang!

That is very true & it's annoying. I have several crappy charging stations and unofficial second controllers for systems that i bought off them, where they bundle in a load of worthless crap that costs them next to nothing, then advertise the bundle based off of the RRP of all the various bits in it, and get a profit margin on it of about 50%. Amazon.co.uk is the way forward for console shopping. Better value (especially with parcel motel being an option now) and a far better returns policy than any ROI walk-in store has.

I would rarely order a console at launch now anyway because i've gotten too many dodgy units at high prices in the past. The Xbox 360 RROD issue was the last straw. I have an original first gen 360 with a 20gb HDD that doesn't have enough space for all my DLC, has a fan on it that sounds like a harrier jump jet taking off, and is close to qualifying for frequent flyer miles from all the air trips it's had back to the microsoft repair depot in germany to be RROD repaired under warranty. mad.png

I've just realized I haven't bought any classic videogame bits on ebay in ages.

Last purchased retro game item -NEC PC-Engine Hu-Card Super Star Soldier Import Japan - 06/09/12

So it seems being crazy busy in work = less money spent on videogames.

Must just be buying all that stuff on pure impulse while browsing ebay.

Can anybody recommend a good unit/shelving thingy to stick a tv on and fill with consoles & crap that won't rape my bank account?

Anything from ikea. Go out and have a look and see what would suit.

Maybe, if its an LCD TV? CRT probably not.

I have the same as this but I don't think they sell it anymore. Plenty of space for everything and fits TV's up to 50"

Ohh and before somebody says it YET AGAIN... the Xbox 360 and PS3 are no longer beside eachother.

    *edit*

Also if you look over 'The Revenge' thread you can see how I put together the cable management etc.

Did you deliberately choose a screenshot that makes it look like somebody lugged a Wiimote at the screen of your telly?

Just so you know, the 360 and Ps3 will die if you leave them there. :pac:
