    FM2

i hope those are elevated launch prices. you'd hope the A10 would be around ~€100.

it'd be a killer combo for €150 with mobo.

It's £95 on Scan, so it's actually pretty ok all things considered.

I'm actually impressed by the pricing, looks like AMD's APUs are going to upset Intel in a major way. I mean, it makes a mockery of Intel's HD4000 graphics which at its cheapest, is on the i3 3225 (?) which is more expensive than the A10. Combine that with reasonably good overclocking and you're onto a great budget gaming rig.

I was fairly happy with the specs when I saw them but the prices are very impressive. Top end they are prob not going to be able to touch ivy bridge performance wise but its good that AMD have see this and have adjusted accordingly.

wish anand did some beefier OCing. he stuck with the stock cooler ffs.

i'll definitely be a serious contender in my next HTPC reincarnation. the lads are starting to game a lot more on it. anyone find any benchmarks comparing the 6450 vs the 6670D?

I only skimmed very quickly over the review, but xbitlabs gained an approx 25% increase in graphics performance through overclocking the graphics core and system RAM.

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-a10-5800k_10.html#sect0

Some good potential there, even if the CPU side doesn't show much overclocking gain.

Linus has done two intro videos.

TLDR: Good for budget rigs using integrated, not so good when you go discrete.

Eeek, just thought I blew a PSU there. Turns out it was just the fuse.

Connecting an old mechanical siren probably wasnt the best idea....

The disappointment of when your post doesn't come on a Friday is one of the worst things about being a PC builder.

Its not clear what client that uses, but its very likely that you'll only be able to use public trackers with that, just so you know. If you need privates go for something like the HP Proliant on deals that let you boot whatever OS you want.

    EDIT: What serephucus said.

I'd just build your own, TBH. G530, 4GB RAM, H61 board, Merc Beta. Only about €150 for the lot, which considering all it would let you do over the prebuilt NAS, is well worth it, IMO.

Suppose I'll be saving a little bit longer so! Just need to find a place where I could put the thing.

Quick one, the aul fella is running a 1080p and 1440x900 monitors on an 8400GS, which is becoming problematic. What card should I replace it with, thinking 6450 but not sure if a little bit more of a step up would be a good investment, thoughts?

Get a 230v one with a 12V trigger relay, much cheaper than blowing a PSU.

Be careful though-I connected 230V to a master blaster, without checking to see if the enable from a PTZ camera was off & got 120dB in the ear, nearly blew my ear drums. Utterly insanely loud mad bastard of a thing :)

If it's only for general computer use or a few HD videos, the 6450 is fine. The low end 7000 are just copies of the 6000 series and they're for OEM only.

Have to bake my PS3 again, luckily I have some thermal paste left over from the last time.

tbh bar discovery channels, just download dexter and the like. Why wait a few months (even a year in some cases) to wait for your favourite tv series to hit the UK?

History, Discovery, Bio and all them are in the Entertainment Extra pack, €33 a month.

Basic Pack with likes of Sky 1, Living, Universal is €25 a month

This is a good guide as to whats in what pack.

You just missed out on getting the whole lot half price, Dish, installation and Entertainment Extra for €16.50. Good Deal. Could try ringing and begging to get it in for €25-->Installation and Extra Pack. Depends on mood of whoever answers the phone.
