Holy sh1tballs! just had my best gym session ever! not just in the last year or 5 years but ever! literally had to be dragged out of the place to go and do an assignment because it felt like I could have went on forever. Set PB's in my squat and BW dips!

Now this could be all in my head and nothing to do with anything physiological or the fact that I went to the gym during the day instead of my usual 7am but just let me live in blissful ignorance

    Who was asking about pepperami?
I got these today, would be a good sub.
I bought them in the butchers beside Tesco in The Square Tallaght.

On Thursday evening I ate four teaspoons of coconut oil, an hour later I was extremely nauseous, two hours after consumption I was vomiting. Ate feck all yesterday, still recovering today. On top of this I've had a cold since Friday of last week, and a chest infection since Monday. Still sticking to plan though, normally on a week like this I'd drown my sorrows in Apache Pizza, with a side of Ben and Jerry's!

when i was googling it most places suggested to take it fairly handy with the coconut oil for the first week or two.. :)

then again it might be that it just doesn't agree with you, but try 1 tsp in the morning 1 in the evening/afternoon for a while, see if it has the same effect on you

I'm petrified of ever eating it from a spoon again, though next weekend I'll cook with it, see how I feel and take it from there!

hey everyone just an update and unfortunately it will be my last. Things are going really well I know Im only a week in but I have loads more energy and the weight is literally melting off me Iv never felt better and hopefully after a month I will never have looked better either. I would encourage anyone reading this thread to give a whole30 a shot!

Unfortunately thats me done with boards.ie. I will admit I was a bit miffed with the whole food diary aspect of this being shut down and I explained why above but when I received an infraction in this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056774233 it was the straw that broke the camels back. Boards.ie is ridiculously over moderated to the point where (in my opinion) a lot of the benefit is lost from the vast majority of threads in health and fitness. I wish it was a case of just mod with common sense but unfortunately the constraints of the rules prevent people from doing that. The poker forum tried to bring this up with the admins and they were shooed away - the result? 4,000 posters upped and set up their own forum. Now I'm not suggesting we do that but I am saying I am a member of other forums where the atmosphere isnt stiffled by someone looking to get their jollies on a power trip.

Sorry for the bit of a pointless rant. I'll send the guy who was looking for BF% the result at the end of the month. Thanks guys and best of luck with your challenge

Week 2 is going well, happy with all so far. Feeling better this week, not so tired. My PT is kicking my ass in the gym, but the weights are getting heavier so all is good!

Best of luck with the rest of the W30, although it sounds like you are kicking ass!! The whole9life forum is very supportive if you are feeling lonely!

Yeah RC_1 come over to the W9 forum, my thread is "ding ding" :)
I agree that this thread is pretty defunct if we can't discuss what we're eating on a daily basis, after all as the book says "It Starts with Food"

Thanks for pepperami source will be stocking up when in Dublin next sat
Have to say never felt better, my skin looks like I have just returned from hols and my clothes are looser and am not gaining over the w/e which was my biggest problem. I admit last time I over relied on dried fruit too much lying to myself that it was whole30 approved but in handfuls every day. Theres a big box of chocs in the office today (not that bothered now if it was dark chocolate it would be a different storey all they smell of is sugar). I haven’t been taking into account calories or ratio of protein/fats etc is there a stage when this should be done coz I do feel as if Im eating a lot of fat (carbs from nuts mostly and one sweet potato a week) and don’t want to start gaining weight.

Soilse if you follow the meal template you'll be fine, honest. It is so nice to be free of weighing , measuring & counting I find.
Great to hear you are doing so well.
Re the dried fruit - remember you should be avoiding sulphites (E224) and "vegetable oil" which are both commonly present in dried fruit.

Did my shopping last night. Seems to be a bunch of veg offers in Tesco.

    59c for packs of 4 pears: http://www.tesco.ie/groceries/Product/Details/?id=261016058
2 Packs of Kale (both of the ones I picked up had 50% extra free) for €3: http://www.tesco.ie/groceries/Product/Details/?id=252167192

I also picked up 2 packs of 1KG Carrots and 1 pack with 3 courgettes (Zucchini) in a 3 for €4 offer. Can't find a link for that one.

sorry dotcomdolly, i did say i was going to do it, but i just didn't get myself organised and started to flounder right at the beginning as life is dementedly hectic at the moment. I joined SW instead in an effort to at least do something.

Best of luck to everyone and I might try again with another one.

    Howdy all

Firstly, dotcomdolly you are a world of information! Had never heard of the whole 30 before I read your thread. Just finished reading It starts with food, I found it really good, it made total sense.

So I am kinda tying to follow the Whole 30 Plan

Just wanted to run through this with you

    Breakfast
2 boiled eggs, a few pieces of smoked salmon/trout, a few cherry tomatoes, strawberries and rocket

    Snacks,
    Banana, orange, macadamia/cashew nuts.

    Lunch
Ham/chicken salad with tomatoes, lettuce, beetroot, cheese (I know it's not on the list but I used to have a sandwich every day for lunch so baby steps, I will cut out the cheese but at the moment I'm not ready for that :o)

    Dinner
Usually meat with sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrot, leak, asparagus, peppers.
I'm still using processed sauces because I grew up with a sauce coming out of a jar and don't really have a clue how to make my own sauce and don't really have the inclination at the moment! Any ideas of a basic cookbook for this kinda thhing? I know I could google it but prefer to have something on paper!

So as Iaranrod Eireann says, I'm not there yet but I'm getting there:pac:

I'm not going to comment on the rest of your diet as it looks ok (although not Whole 30) to me but as for the above. It's really easy to make your own sauce.

All the basic spices you can get in Tesco for around €1 each. And a jar will easily do 5 - 10 dinners depending on the spice.

For example a very rough recipe for bolognese
    500 kg mince
    1 can tomatoes
    1 tbls tomato puree
    1 onion
    2 cloves garlic
    1 tbls oregano
    1 tbls basil

Pretty much as easy to make as with a jar of sauce and probably nicer. Plus you can easily add extra spices to come up with something that suits you better. Personally I like to add a drop of worchester sauce and a touch or cayenne pepper, but it's easy and interesting to come up with your own version.

These offers were still on today. There's also giant bags of spinach marks as having 50% extra free for less than €2. I didn't buy one though (got too much for myself already :)).

So resurrecting the killed thread:) How did you all get on?

I posted my result stats on Whole9 forum

Result stats - I feel/look slimmer so was intrigued to do some measuring this morning.

    128.2lb>124.8lb
    bf - same
bust same, belly -1inch!, hips, -0.5inch

I had a really good W30, a nut butter free one!! I also had much less fruit than previous rounds too and really saw the difference.

Anyone planning a new year whole30? 2nd January will mark 1 year since I started the "how to go primal" thread :)

I have bitten the bullet and started a "near as I darn well can get" to a whole 30 on Monday. Not sure if my proportions are right - I know I've had a couple of meals with no protein, I'd made a batch of veg soup and added chilli and coconut oil & had it alone with a banana after. But I am getting there. Sulphite/sugar free bacon is the one thing I have yet to find.
Made my own ghee and it smells divine & coconut oil - that's just flipping gorgeous.
Interesting to see how/if I loose weight or inches. Took a base weight but not measurements - tried on trousers that I can get on but not wear (iykwim) will be fabulous if there's some difference at the end.
No afternoon slumps and not feeling the after dinner belly bloat anywhere near as much (and if I do it's cos I ate too much good stuff).
Now I am getting into it, does not seem as restrictive as I first thought - found a few nice recipes for coconut chicken and thai curry that are compliant. Want to make my own curry paste and mayonnaise this weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,934 ✭✭✭Dotcomdolly

Your own mayo will be a revelation! It's so good!
I think you might be mixing up nitrates and sulphites? I've never found nitrate free bacon but sugar free is definitely out there, just got to read the labels. I like Dunnes Simply better smoked ones.
I bet you will be fitting in to those trs by the end!

Anyone know where you can buy coconut aminos? Can't seem to buy it online. Also what do most people do for milk for coffee, just canned coconut milk? It's not very nice. I'm guessing the naked bars are outta bounds even though they are all natural?

I got a friend to bring me home a bottle from the states. Before that I got it from iherb but they seem to have discontinued it. I have details of a uk health shop you can buy online from, but its pricey. Ill post later on phone now.

I love coconut milk in my coffee but have also got used to having it black

The non oat varieties of nakd bars are w30 ok in an emergency/rare occasion. Not a regular thing as you're aim is to slay the sugar dragon and they are very sweet!
