    Sky's report on Wilshere's return.

Great to see he's not afraid to throw himself about, won't be long til we see him line out for the first team I hope. That number 10 sure looks good on him :D

Not as if we didn't already know about our difficulty offloading players due to the ridiculous contracts we handed them but Manuel Almunia admits to going all Winston Bogarde on us at the end of this arseblognews article.
“ Maybe I should have left one year earlier, but I had a contract that was too good to refuse.”

Good to see the return of the Jack is getting closer:cool:!

One good thing from the injury to Diaby is it makes it a nice and easy decision for Wenger in regards Wilshere. Had Diaby continued playing as well as he started, Wenger would have had an impossible task trying to decide who to leave out. Unless Ramsey suddenly finds amazing form, he'll be missing out once Wilshere is 100%.

A midfield trio of Arteta, Wilshere and Cazorla? Yes please :D

We really shouldn't be expecting anything form Wilshere pre-Christmas. Players coming back from lengthy lay-offs nearly always pick up plenty of minor muscle strains along the way. If we can have him fully fit for the run in that'll be a bonus.

You don't know what you're talking about, I say we start him on Wednesday!

I've actually been quite impressed with Ramsey so far this season from what I've seen. Handy squad player to have. And to think, some idiot on this thread wanted us to loan him out for the first 3 months of the season.
    That was me.

If he's a regular starter towards the end of the season I'll be happy, rushing him would be the worst thing that could happen.

Has he always run like that? I know people call him a "special" talent but that's not what I thought they meant........

Ramsey took a long time to settle back and was poor for quite a few games and well off the pace. Jack won't automatically fit in straight away either. We need all our players fully fit.

    Like Ramsey?

Before he broke a leg, he was superior then Wilshere. nearly comparable to fabregas.

Whenever ramsey played, we did not miss fabregas that much

I'd have expected to see Arteta rested for the Olympiakos match anyhow.

I don't think we will see scez for the season either
He has one of them "3 weeks" injurys and he is in the famous protective boot

That's one way for Mannone to pick up confidence. He doesn't appear to be the complete liability I thought he once was, but he's not the type of 'keeper you'd expect to be playing in a top 4 side. Hopefully my opinion on him will improve even more as the season goes on.

    Gnarby is in the squad.

Hmm, every year there's a "2-3 weeks away" that turns into a season long injury. Must be Chesney's turn.

I did say when Wilshere was 100%.

Diaby's injury has shown that he isn't over his injury problems just yet so Ramsey is likely the third man in midfield until Wilshere is fit again. With Rosicky still(?) out too it means Wilshere will be getting game time sooner rather than later albeit from the bench.

When everyone is fit and in form, it would be a horrible decision to have to make, luckily for Wenger thats rarely ever the case.

Tbh don't think he's ever going to be over his injury problems.

From what I've seen of Mannone lately he looks a lot more confident this term, and my Hull supporting friend reckons he had a great spell with them, I know we're talking different ponds here but Chesney came back to us from Brentford. My problem is what happens if Chesney is long term and Mannone picks up a knock - I don't trust Fabianski however fit he is.

We need a good keeper urgently. We do not have an outstanding one, just a few good to average ones who are prone to mistakes in big games.

Hard to know who is out there though. I always rated Reina but jaysus he's shocking lately, and apparently we were in with a €20m bid for him a few seasons back - having said that, playing for the current Liverpool side wouldn't be easy.

Always thought we'd go in for Shay Given but he's past it now anyway. Spurs to be fair got a good stop gap keeper in Friedel.

Who is available that we could realistically get and is better than WS?

Its also worth considering the potential of the players for the future. WS could really be excellent. Maybe he won't, but there is a decent chance he could. I think Wenger believes in him a lot too. If not, we would have signed Lloris when the chance presented itself this summer.

Keep in mind most keepers dont hit their peak until late 20's or early 30's. Szczesny is still a bit away from that so he has every chance of being amazing once he gets a bit older. The more he plays, the better the chances of that happening. Buying someone else and sticking him on the bench would hamper that development.

I fully believe Szczesny will be our first choice keeper for many years to come. The only other young player that I would be confidant of saying the same about is Wilshere. I like to believe Koscielny, Cazorla etc will be the same but as we've seen being loyal is rare these days.
