Who the man? Gervinho the man.

Forehead and shoulders above the rest.

9 goals from Gerv and Podolski so far. Making up for the loss of RVP fairly well.

Mum's watching Taggart, no way am I getting anywhere near the telly again now the match is over :(

I bet Taggart could put in better crosses than Gibbs and Oxo.

I just seen highlights on rte not the whole game.
Delighted with win we should get through group now without any troubles.
We need a winning streak in the premiership now after man city and chelsea games

I'd still be very wary of the next two games against Schalke they are probaly the toughest opposition in the group and we still have to go greece where we always seem to falter, But delighted with the 6 points so far

Vermaelen seemed very distracted last night - and why was he careering up the pitch so often ?- I don't mind seeing that once every couple of games or so but last night was ridiculous. Ox was also off his game and even Arteta seemed to make more misplaced passes last night than he has all season. This all led to Arsenal's worst performance this season.

I didn't see the game, or highlights yet, but if we play our worst every week and still win 3-1 I'd be happy, and excited about when we play well.

Were Olympiakos play sh*t or something.

Somebody said in the match thread bout arteta been like van bommel just kicking everyone
I have to say I fooking love it

But yeah he was poor last night, though only Jenks, Gibbs, and gervinho played well everyone else was poor enough

We need to find another win Saturday cause I don't think they will let us play either another scruffy win please, then the international break

After that we should have everyone available, and I can't wait for that

Olympiakos did a great job containing us in the 1st half and also looked more likely to score. When Gervinho scored it was completely against the run of play and their equaliser was more than deserved. Things did improve in the second half and Olympiakos barely had any opportunities.

Mannone and Vermalen were unacceptably poor last night.

Stray passes just outside the box? I thought this sh1t was sorted?

We defended as badly last night as I have ever seen us defend, to be quite frank.

Everyone jumped the gun way too quick, you can't go from been one of the worst defences to the best in one summer.

The only good thing about Vermaelen's performance lastnight was when he tried to swing on the crossbar after making a run at a corner and fell on his hole :pac:

Last night was very different. Generally our defenders perform well on an individual basis, but are let down by the system or the fact that the team wasn't defending as a whole. Last night Vermaelen had a very poor game - completely different to the sort of problems we've been having over the last few seasons.

Very true indeed,Verm seems to be making a lot of mistakes jatdjm, actually his form has been inconsistent over the last year or so,but he is captain so can't drop him,I think arteta should have been given the job.

So do I. He is our weakest CB.

One can assume I wasn't talking about squillachi or Dj.

    He's the weakest of him/Kos/Mert.

I wouldn't exactly describe him as a centre back :pac:

He has been looking shakey recently alright.

Although, and this is not a reflection on anything Kos is doing, but does anyone else think he looks a lot more comfortable when Mert is beside him??

TBH, I think the fact that it's being debated should TV actually be in the starting XI or not shows how strong our central defensive options are at the moment. Incredible really when you think about the talk 15 months ago when the general media perception was that unless we got TV back fit we would have NO quality centre halves!

I think in the two seasons he has been fit he has finished as top scoring PL defender?

IMHO I would take Kos/Mert/TV/JoDj ahead of Vidic/Ferdinand/Evans/Jones/ Smalling as a group. Actually as a four, I'd probably take them over any other PL club's CB options.

We can afford to lose one to injury and still be exceptionally close to full-strength. Take Vidic/Kompany/Terry out from the other 3 and they don't look half are strong.

You lot agree or is my bias getting the better of me again? :D

[side note: imo Remi Garde > Roy Keane] :p

I'd rather a better fourth choice than Djourou, but first three only I'd take ours over everyone else's.

Throw in Sagna and Szczesny too and LB is the only area I'm not completely happy with. Satisfied with it, but would take a better option if it came along.

Gibbs is proving himself to be a fine left-back. A Brazilian international can't even get a look in

I've been happy enough with him too, he's just the weakest of the back five and if someone better came along I'd likely take him. Dont think any of the other back five spots could really be improved much right now.

I hope he can continue and nail down that spot.

TBH if Gibbs got injured I wouldn't be surprised to see Wenger shift TV out there. Although, the last time he was put LB he looked very uncomfortable. I just think Santos is going play more games on the wing than he will at full back from this point on tbh. Eboue-esque.

Gibbs has been magnificent this season, I've been very happy with him.

Just watched Arsenal versus Liverpool 03-04 on Espn Classic. My God, we had one hell of a team that year and Henry was mesmerising. Unreal.

On the CB thing, Verm and Kos are too similar really, both like to step out from the defensive line, and tend to get too tight. On the other hand Mert and Djourou are better standing off a bit and are better in the zone behind the defensive line. Really we should be looking to pick one of each pairing at any time in my opinion. i.e. one of Verm/Kos, one of Mert/Djourou.

To be fair on Djourou, he formed a very good partnership with Kos in the middle third of 2010-2011, and was absolutely immense at times. I know he hasn't looked great since but he hasn't had a good run of games either. I think he's better than most give him credit for.

Overall, I think Wenger was right to attempt to pair Verm and Kos for the Chelsea game (given the mobility of Hazard, Oscar and Mata, we did stifle them in open play quite well). And I think the question of who our first choice CBs are is moot, because we've enough of a contrast in there now to be able to pick and choose depending on the opposition. I only hope Wenger sees it that way too...

I don't care what anyone says, changing a team ,even if its one player every week,is never good for a team, always play your best and most consistent 11 in the league, only my opinion though.

Why did Coleman take the captaincy off Ramsey??

Why did Coleman take the captaincy off Ramsey??

Well Ramsey only said during the week that Gary Speeds death hit him hard, and only now does he feel like he is over it.
May have something to do with it.
