The Mazda ATS system isnt 80:20 bias in normal driving though, its 100:0. Its a FWD platform with upto and max 50% split to the rear.

At 1:25 they mention the torque split.

I don't think that's his car, it certainly doesn't look like kildare in the background of that pic!

Rota Bellas? not my area of expertise, but a fan of black wheels with red trim alright.

My bad about the torque split ratio but when they're on rolling roads with no cause for the rears to kick in, the rear wheels have been known to drive.

Yep, I actually read that too. No idea why it does it though, its not meant to.. :P

Surely they'd be guaranteed to drive on a rolling road - front wheels turning faster than the rear, computer thinks fronts are "spinning", sends power to the rear?

That's kind of grey though! "Silver" is an insult to that colour!

I would have thought that too??

This is the best explanation I've ever heard for it!

My experience would be of the Honda Dual pump system used in the CRV / HRV.
It's a beautiful system in an engineering sense, no electronics just a mechanical/hydraulic system.

Not as dynamic, or high tech as other systems, can't handle the same power as other systems (doubt it gets anywhere near 50:50), not for heavy duty work, but a very "elegant" solution to part time 4wd and it doesn't go bonkers if a sensor or control module goes AWOL.
More than 3% difference in wheel speed between front and back pushes the clutch plates together, simple as. No LSD though - learned that the hard way haha!

In the case of the MPS, I'm guessing it's ABS sensors or something keep track of what wheel is doing what.

I'm not familiar with that Honda system but I do know that the MPS system is excellent and works very well. I had to take my parents' '07 C180 to work one day and I found the car skidding on a few turns where the MPS wouldn't have hinted at a poor surface.

That's silver it's just been photoshopped to fcuk and back. Looks like bad editing resulting in the whole colour range being compressed, and silver turning to that murky grey

He must have bought it since he hasn't been here in a while :pac:

Thought that alright, but genuine or not, the result looks far better than regular plain silver!

Maybe the car ate his computer as it thought it was a petrol pump

Or maybe the turbo sucked in his computer and shat it out the exhaust in the direction of a TDi...

Not 1 3MPS or 6MPS for sale on done deal, 2 6MPS's left on carzone both black. The silver one the OP was interested in is gone so either he's very sad or very happy.

From his silence, I doubt we will ever know :(

The OP has posted 61 times in 3 years so your probably right. Actually what is the story with that black/navy 3 MPS on carzone, it doesn't look like a real MPS but is listed as being one.

You're right, it's not an MPS at all. It's just that it comes up in the search due to the fact that it's just advertising space. Often times, a 2.2 diesel 6 will come up in a search for 6 MPS.

A 2.3 litre bog standard 3 is pretty pointless and sale proof in this country, the seller is living in denial asking €8k for an almost 7 year old one.

Yep, that red one came up in conversation before. It's got no cruise control and no stereo buttons even on the wheel, it has a Kenwood or similar CD player whereas they normally have a factory unit that takes up that whole dash section.

It's a bog man's bog standard paddy spec!

Is it a Jap import? Sounds like the kind of ones that were brought in from there.

    I still miss mine :D

The economy was cracking though.... wasn't it!

Found Irish garages (well Mayo Mazda!) were nuts expensive to get it serviced. Took it to Pat Kirk in Coalisland, cost 300 euro less and they gave it a valet!!!!

You won't regret buying one, I am no car expert, but I thought they were a great drive.

    The economy was cracking too.....

I would think so, the rear bumper has the shape for an EU plate but you can see that there was a plate mounted in the middle and no holes where you would normally find them with an EU plate.

My RX8 was a Jap import and came with cloth seats, no cruise, nothing but it did have the proper CD changer with steering wheel controls.

EDIT: This proves it's a Jap import -

I don't miss mine at all to be honest!

I did all my own servicing on it so have no idea what Mazda were like. The service items themselves were very cheap from Mazda though which was surprising. Sure wasn't like that with the RX8.

Economy good??? You sure you're on about the same car? :P

    Yops was a 3MPS Right?
Maybe its the torque steer he misses!
Really MM ive found normal parts for the mazda 3 expensive.

That Red MPS is a japan import and has being sitting in that garage for over 4 years now, the mazdaspeed stitched into the seats is a give away. Dunno why but i just wouldn't touch it, maybe its the lunatic price.
Pity the regular 2.3/2.0 would never sell here because i think they suit the 3 nicely.

You don't get the torque steer from it, its just a nice bit of power but not too much.
