I quite like the look of Borderlands 2

Isn't that how mainstream games are rated these days, no?

I thought I'd pre-emptied that by following it with 'figuratively' :P

Everyone should be talking about FTL instead. That's a brand new game that's a huge amount of fun. Doesn't have 3D graphics or multiplayer though so I guess I'm wrong about enjoying it.

It sounds rather good, and I've been getting into Rogue-likes lately and heard it's kind of rogue-ish.

As for Borderlands as far as I know it was a moderate success until those muppets over on Giant Bomb started raving about it and it got really popular. I heard it's pretty much Diablo with guns and some good humour.

I like it a lot. Wish it had more scope though. The mechanics of how the ship and crew work is really great but there isn't a huge amount that you can do.

It's a like a really detailed system for running a ship but put into a standard side scrolling shoot-em-up universe where you just move from left to right and take out a boss. When those mechanics should really be applied to an open universe to explore like Elite.

    Anyone playing Super Hexagon?

Makes VVVVVVV look like a walk in the park :/

Super Hexagon, looks like even Chuck Norris would pee his male incontinence wear if he faced off against it!
It says "next level at 10secs", so just 6 and a half more seconds to go!

    Oh, sold another painting today!
    Another few bob, salted away.
Loads of interest too in some others.
Question is... how many Wii U's is too many? Steve, got an opinion?

When I finally decided to donate to the kickstarter to get the dev unit, it had been closed for 19 hours

I know this will come as a surprise but I think two is probably the right amount. One black and one white :)

Never knew you painted, I make a few frames for oils and acrylics. Dig one out of the pile and I will stick a frame on it for you. PM a good photo of a painting with the EXACT size in mm and I'll try to bring it along on Friday.Anything up to a 16x12 should be alright.;)

Remember I was going on about buying a projector? Well I was reading up on lamp life (something which is obviously the biggest turn off on a projector given how expensive they are), and came across a good article on LED projector technology. Possibly boasting 30,000 hours. 6 times a standard projector lamp.

Seems its a bit of a way off, (and if they were available, they'd cost thousands) but could be the future.

Then noticed the article was dated 2010!

So off I went to hunt down a LED projector. (still thinking they'd cost a **** load) Then noticed one on pixmania, reduced too- the LG HX300G.

    It's really small and has a native resolution of 1024 x 768.

I'd seen this the other day, but the lumen count turned me off. Didn't realize its because it was LED :o

    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/5454690/art/lg/hx300g-video-projector.html

Picked one up anyway, will let you know how I get on :)

Looks decent enough. Can't wait to hook up the DC with the SLG3000!

LED Projector would mean less heat right and so hopefully not having fans which sound like jet engines?

I've a small cheapish LCD (as in not LED like the one u got) projector and its also 1024x768. Low resolution but it works great with the retro consoles and stuff like that.

From the reviews I've read and youtube vids I've watched, there's not much sound from them at all. Main downside seems to be you need to have a darker room, but for 30,000 hours lamp life, I don't mind closing the curtains!

Sure we'll see how it goes. :) I'll be watching films on it too, but never really was one to be concerned with things being in high def or anything. As long as it doesnt look like a grainy mess I'm happy!

I think you'll be surprised how well it will look.
Plus with Halloween coming up a projector can be a fun thing to have :D

Smyths are having a bit of a 3DS sale at the mement.

RE Revelations for €24.99 and Rayman origins for €19.99 and Rayman 3D also for 19.99.

so a question, is Rayman Origins any good?

Superb, way better than the NSMB DS and the 3DS NSMB game. Picked it up myself for 20 there during the week.

I suppose you either get the French style of the Rayman games or not.
My son has Origins on the 360 and it is a good looking game.
I like Rayman 3d on the 3ds, the remake of Rayman 2 on the N64, both good looking games, despite the busyness of the visuals on the N64.

The 3DS screen is a waste of the Origins artstyle. If ever a game called out for HD, its that.

Went to see Spirited Away 35mm in the IFI this afternoon. Theres more visuals wasted on the small screen - envied everyone who was watching it for the first time!

I wandered in to Currys/PC world in Liffey Valley and they had a couple of copies of Mario Kart 7 and Rayman 3D for 15 euro all brand new and sealed. My son picked Rayman Origins for 15. Think they're selling off the last of their stock, GOW3 was there and a good few PS3 games as well all at 15.
