Has anyone sent away their X to fix the Wifi issue?

Mines due to be picked up by courier tomorrow to be shipped to HTC in the UK. HTC said it should take 5 working days to get it back to me.

Yea, just checked with the pressure test thing, definitely have the wifi issue. Just wondering is it really worth my time to get it fixed, seems to take ages to get it back..... Does it get worse over time?

My One X started acting up a few days ago, mobile data signal got really bad...never better than GPRS!
Then a couple of days ago the screen started doing funny things like as if it was a monitor displaying the wrong resolution. The screen started locking up for anything from a few second to a few minutes, it would wrap over itself...the bottom of the screen would appear on the top when scrolling. When the screen goes off sometimes it won't come back on. The 3 buttons on the bottom light up and the volume works but no display. I also got a few calls where it rings but I can't answer because the screen doesn't come on.

Anyone heard of this behaviour before?

Last thing, I'm running ARHD 6.4 now (was on 6.1 when it started but updated to see if it would fix it) how do I go about putting it back to factory before I sent it back. I'd need to relock too I assume?

did you do a full wipe when you moved to 6.4? could be something up with the rom and a full wipe will ensure thats not to blame.

if you have unlocked your bootloader and installed custom roms then your warranty may be void.

anyway, a quick google should show you how to relock the bootloader and install a shipped RUU.

This issue could probably have been solved ages ago, but is anyone having problems with contact pictures showing up in Sense?

For example, all my contacts are synched with facebook and have display pictures, but in clients such as GoSMS and whatsapp, the only display pictures that show up are from Google+, the rest just appear as the stock image. Is there any way to fox this, or is it just an issue with sense 4.0 and 4.1?

Obviously this isn't a big deal or anything, I'd just like to have it :D

Yep, sense doesn't add the account properly. Use Facebook contact sync instead, it's free in Google play. Then you need to set that as the standard picture, by removing Facebook sense account or editing contacts.

Got my phone back from HTC through O2 after reporting the WiFi signal issue and low and behold the problem is still there:

Getting on to O2 now to get the phone replaced. Very not happy!!

guys, are they planning to fix this wi-fi issue? home screen issue?

I'm thinking of getting HTC One S but I'm not sure whether I should wait for something, or not.

Just thought I'd chime in here with some software that I recently discovered which was very helpful for Music sorting.

    Bit of history:
I had a few albums on phone that were by Various Artists (basically home made playlists). I had each artist listed but with the one album name and they showed up on my phone as just one Album (when in album view - stock player). I added them with DoubleTwist Airsync and everything was great. (I use the stock player because I use car mode a lot).

Then, the other day (a few weeks after recent OS update and Sense update) I went to Album view and the albums had all split out - 23 albums, one for each artist - very annoying. I don't know what changed to make this happen but there ye go.

A bit of googling uncovered that this is a problem with Android phones and Various Artist albums.

    MediaGO
A Sony smartphone user I work with put me onto this software and it is fantastic.
Works in a similar way to iTunes but the main point is that when you add music to the phone using MediaGo it will organise the Various Artist albums perfectly. Just have to make sure all your tags are correct and then drag and drop them across.
You can get it for free here
    http://mediago.sony.com/enu/features

    Windows only I'm afraid.

Anyone having problems with the default browser on the One X lately?
Mine closes itself spontaneously for no reason. This has been happening for a few weeks, maybe since shortly after the last update.

It's happened to me a few times. There's a few other quirks too, although I can't remember them off the top of my head.

Roll on Jelly Bean, I've been waiting for that before I root.

Started happening to me a few days ago out of the blue and I've seen people starting to complain about it in the usual forums. Really odd bug, it seems to have sprung up out of no where in the past week. Anyway, turning off auto-disconnect in the advanced wi-fi settings seems to have done the trick for me.

That seems to have worked for me Oafley. Cheers.

I've had two One X's since upgrading on Friday. First one had a 2cm yellow smudge across the top of the LCD. Got it replaced today in the shop, took it home, stuck it on charge and this ones got a yellow spot on the screen as well.

Also noticed wireless issues (had my old HTC desire HD beside my One X, One X was struggling to hold signal, Desire HD was full). Googled that and came across the hardware related wireless issues.

Problem is, I really love this phone, I don't want to go for another make/model. I want a HTC One X that doesn't have any issues.

I've posted about it over on the three forum anyway, asking to see if I can get a handset that doesn't have any issues, ie not part of a dodgy batch.

The first demo model I played with had this issue as well. Herself's One X wifi barely functions at this stage. For all HTC's boasts about using top quality materials and unibody techniques etc over the past few years their QA as a whole has been consistently poor. I do love the One X, but their build quality was one of the things that had me leaning towards the S3 - the screen sealed the deal though, it is amazing.

    Or maybe not :(
I'm sure they'll sort it out with another upgrade before too long.

Has there been any word from HTC about the release of Jelly Bean?

Had a quick google but they only seem to be saying that they will release it, with no word of when.

Im going to buy a new phone this week, Im thorn between the One X & a S3, I prefer the look of the unibody One x, but the S3 has far superior battery from what Ive read, and all the wlan issues here Ive read about are scaring me off the One a bit !

Will I regret getting a One ! or are newer builds without hardware issues ?

    thanks

The wifi issue seems to have been primarily with the first batch of stock that HTC shifted. Mrs. Jones would have been one of those. Mine is much later and hasn't any issues.

Battery isn't an issue for me anyway, I'll usually have about 20pc left by the time I plug it in a night. I prefer the ergonomics of the S3, HTC really should have put the power button on the side. Camera is meant to be better as well.

I prefer the look of the HTC, although the S3 is a fairly handsome device in the flesh.

For me it came down to the screen. It's flawless. It's in a different league to the S3's. I'd go so far to say it's the best screen I've seen on any device.

Well at least it's not just me. I was starting to think there was something wrong with my phone.

Looks like they just need to get "calling, GPS and internet sharing" resolved and then we may be in luck:)

cheers pal, thanks for the reassurance :)

Ive a question in relation to the screen and font rendering, I once had an ip4, lovely retina graphics and beautiful impossible to see font pixels,...I then went to an S2, which after coming from a retina device, fonts and graphics were horrible by comparison, so I went back to iphone, getting a 4s...

I know the One has "retina" dpi, just wondering how the android sdk these days deals with high res devices, is the font rendering, as good as it is on ios ? or are the fonts just standard fonts, not catered for high res devices to be high res also

    thanks

Have a One X for about four months and have had no issues at all, great phone.

Good question. Fully supported. In the SDK out have LDPI, MDPI, HDPI and XHDPI. If you compile any drawable it must fit all of those otherwise the app shouldn't be compatible with the phone anyway. So unless an app developer messes up Big time it doesn't happen. Also all android stock draw tables, which all apps are build pt soon are fully hi res. I've never theoretically come across issues with drawables, even when using upsized apps on my tablet. Much more than can be said for apple..

So who has rooted the phone? I've got the CyanogenMod 10 - Endeavor Unleashed rom on mine and it's working very nicely.

Anyone know any good mods for it? Really want to change the notification icons, battery in particular?

Also must find myself a camera app as I'm not particularly fond of the JB camera.

You should try the domination ROM by owain. It's a merge of CM, PA and AOKP. And some other cherry picks etc, so different battery icons like circle mod or battery bar are really easy to use.

Got my One X back from HTC repair today :)
External shell is the same but the screen and internals have been replaced. IMEI is different to before. They didn't say anything about it being Unlocked/relocked by me before I sent it which is good.
Just unlocked it again and put ARHD 9.7 on it. Now to set it all up again...that'll take a while!

Now I must keep it very far away from strong electromagnetic motors this time ;)
