Thought it was great, wonder how well it'll translate to an English audience though, with it being Sky's flagship comedy.

They're probably gambling on the Irish living in The UK. Steve Coogan won't hurt either.

    Really loved the Soundtrack

I loved it. Think it will be lost on the UK audience though.

Loved the Gay Byrne show reference.

They lapped up Father Ted, so I think they'll love this - the UK are more in tune with Ireland than we sometimes think

Loved the 5 dads sitting fishing when the Bonner brothers cycle past shouting "QUEERS!"

It wasn't bad, and was certainly a lot better than a lot of the crap "comedies" churned out in the US.

It's directed by Declan Lowney who directed most of Father Ted, so the similarities are certainly not coincidental.

Any notion when this is repeated?

I missed it last night so will definitely check it out tonight, but so far it seems like it's a winner?

Would be surreal if it became the new Father Ted.. and it was on Sky One!

Steve Coogan was brilliant, never rated him before.

You never rated Steve Coogan? Really? Have you never seen Alan Partridge?

Why would it being on Sky One make it surreal?

I think it's more that Sky One has never really be known for it's own-produced comedy.

I'm just watching the two episodes now... Episode 1 - not funny...cringey...odd line ok... I was going to give up and not bother with the second episode. Glad I did now! Way better! Loving Steve Coogan!

That seems to be changing now.

Digital Spy posters seem to really like it, for those not sure how us British will like it.

After all British TV audiences have given Linehan his career and this has similarities to his humour and Mrs Brown's Boys is one of the most popular comedies at the moment.

Loved it being remembered those days. Voted for Mary Robinson. The whole era perfectly observed. Steve Coogan was brilliant, never rated him before. But his Irish accent is perfect and his performance too.

Chris O'Dowd is a find. He is a comic genius.

Loads of laughs from me and I'm an old cynic.

Have you ever watched TV before?

Yes of course and it was excellent, just not to my taste. So I was being a little unfair. But hey that's the internet.

Killbill, no funnily enough. So who is Chris O'Dowd? Was he in something before and what was IT?;) I meant in fact in terms of being a comedy writer.

I'v only watched the first episode and although it had some funny moments I think it may be a show that needs time to 'grow'. I certainly found enough in it to make me watch more episodes.

But it's definitely aimed at a family audience, Chris O'Dowd has said he wanted to makes something that the whole family could watch together. Nothing wrong with that.

He was in a show called "the IT crowd", very funny show.

Yeah think it does need time to grow , and can see the family element but i think much of the references are their that people who were only alive in ireland at the time would understand , didnt laugh once while watching it and id usually laugh at anything half funny on the box , but hopefully will grow big with somewhere as small as boyle!

1st episode was a bit disappointing but I found the 2nd episode a lot better. Terrible acting from that kid though. Perhaps it's intentional to make it a bit more natural but I just found it to be quite cringey at times.
