I presume everybody here will be pretty much going out everynight during freshers:P, well especially those who have bought or are planning on buying the wristband? :D

I probably won't be, tbh :o Going out isn't really my thing and I just wouldn't have the money for it, what with the wristband and drinks and everything. If we're able to get individual tickets I might go out on the Wednesday or Friday :P I'm planning on going to a lot of daytime events during the week though!

Ah ok, I think I'll do the same regards daytime events, but still i think I'll try and go out every night for the first week as some of the events seem like great crack :D especially the freshers ball :P

    Great idea for a thread!
I'm doing general nursing and I'll be living at home because I don't like too far away from trinity.

For the commuters, I'm sure when we start and you make friends you can stay in people's houses no bother :)

I'll probably buy my wrist band in the next few days just in case they're sold out before freshers week!

Does the freshers wristband get you into day events also or is it just for the night events?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 162 ✭✭mathstalk

How much is the wristband, anybody?
a hand signal? oh god.... some seriously cringeworthy things just popped into my head there... would be hilarious all the same, if we were all just standing around, not knowing who was a boardsie, then some guy starts hooting like an owl, and we all flock around him silently, recognizing "the call" :p

I was thinking we should all make elephant trunks with our arms while doing elephant noises. Not only would this eradicate the confusion in the room, but it would also be symbolic of 'addressing the elephant in the room'. But I also like the flocking idea. As long a you make the call :pac:

haha i actually will now, or we could all bring some owl paraphenalia up and see if we can passively spot one another during the day, might be fun :p

€30 for the wristband, right? What does that get you into, besides the trinity ball?

Actually, I just did some googling and they're €25. You get 4 nights for that price. Reasonable enough.

    Oh, I see :(

€30 for 4 nights is still fair enough. Do the bands do anything else? For example, drink price reductions?

I'm not too sure but i presume that there are drink promotions on at each of the events anyway to be honest, the freshers ball is €15 alone :D

I would go out most nights, if I had a place to stay in town :pac: are you living in halls or somewhere close to Trinity?

not quite in halls but close enough :D

Hi everyone! My name's <SNIP> and I'm doing <SNIP>, staying in Halls as I'm from <SNIP>. I don't know anyone else in Trinity so I'd love a meet-up! And the secret signal ideas are genius. I'll have to brush up on my owl noises.

Are ye all planning on buying wristbands online? I'd rather get them there but they might be sold out, it seems.

I hadn't thought about them being sold out, I might buy them online myself now. Thanks for the heads up Maggie!

Hey, good idea, fb is hectic.
    My name's Orlagh.
I'm doing Maths. I've applied to do the optional language course for French. I'm staying in halls as well.
I still haven't got my societies stuff in the post :( so I don't have a clear idea what's going on with them during freshers but from the sounds of it I'm definitely heading straight to sci-fi. :D

I've never heard of that combination before? Are you doing one as a TSM and the other by an optional language course, or is that a double subject course in itself?

Name's Bren (short for Brendan). I'll be studying history. I'm just wondering is it possible to just complete ignore your class, as in not engage with them at all? I've got enough friends for the moment and I don't need the distraction of people in the class, was hard enough at school. Can a guy just ignore his class in college?

You can. I mean it is physically possible. I just don't see why you would. Just mingle. The friends you have now may not last forever, so you might as well keep making new ones, so that you never run out. You may even form stronger relationships with those in your course seeing as you all have at least one mutual interest.

So, this meet-up thing? Whos up for it, seems to be some really vague talk about it, and this group is the most mysterious looking thing I've ever seen... what time suits people? and the comedy debate thing after? argh this is stressful! :p

Hi all, my name is Maedhbh and I'm doing TSM history and geography, living at home in Clondalkin. (Btw, just as a matter of interest, are ye all living away from home in halls or digs etc?) Can't wait to start college but a little apprehensive about the whole awkwardness of not knowing ANYONE

Definitely up for a meet up on Monday- but how to identify each other!? Probably the easiest thing is if we all go in dressed in full power rangers costume- I'd say that'd be the most hassle free way...

Is everybody going in on Monday? We could just settle on a time and then swoop down and congregate on a notable landmark? But to eliminate all confusion, a landmark that isn't going to be too crowded with socially anxious freshers (dressed as Power Rangers) and at a really specific time?
