I think my dislike of biology is due to the way it was taught to me in fifth and sixth year. My teacher was a bit crazy and I really didn't enjoy the class. I spent most of the time half asleep. Agree with you on Maths. I absolutely love it. After a summer without it I hope I'll be able to get pick it up again quickly.

For me picking the last module was the hardest , as I didn't want to do any of them , yet still had to choose one.

I'm almost the opposite, I had a great biology teacher, and although I still like maths, I don't love it as much as I used to because of who I had teaching it to me for Leaving Cert! I really hope I can keep up with it.

I do like chemistry but just not as much as the others really. I do want to do it, I just feel kind of indifferent about it a lot of the time :pac:

    Lucky you! :)
Shame bout your maths teacher though. :(

I used to joke to friends of mine who really enjoyed chemistry that physics was the better subject (of course that isn't true , neither one is better than the other , but their reactions were hilarious at times). Funnily enough one of them has recently discovered a massive interest in Physics after her first week in college. After not having read anything physics related since June my head was quite sore hearing about it.

With all the stuff going on fresher's week I'm going to be shattered/broke come the weekend. Bought myself one of those wristbands for the fresher's ball and hopefully another 1 or 2 events. Still have to choose what socs I may join as well.

What's the story tomorrow? Do we just wander around and join societies? I'm afraid I'll go into trinity and leave about 10 minutes later, seen as I have no talks or things to do

Some boardsies are meeting up for breakfast at 9.50, lunch at just before 1, going in the pub crawl at 6.30 and then the freshers ball...join us!

But yeah, if you've nothing on you just join societies and get free stuff :)

We like to call it the pointy archy thing :) but yes, that's it! It's right infront of you when you go in the main entrance!

Really enjoyable first day. The amount of students doing Science is staggering. Something like 340 students according to one of the lecturers. Fresher's ball this evening to look forward to now.

I was at the Campanile at around 9.50, but didn't see anybody there. Maybe I was a few minutes late. Oh well.

Did you not go to your course meeting? I got mine there and there is also a copy of it on the trinity website.

A little (I was in the Hamilton library). You need your student card to enter, there's different sections for books. Also there's a new checkout system (which I didn't pay attention to!).
One section is recommended reading but not necessary (I think you can take these for a few days), another section is must read and set aside by your professor (which you cannot take out of the library, just read inside, I believe). Then there's desks and study areas. Some books are stored off campus and need to be ordered. Then there's a section for journals, and massive books that don't fit on the shelf.

Try and ask someone when you're in there, it'll make more sense than my poor recollection

Think you're talking about between Lending copies and Short-term lending! Unless it's something specific to your course, these don't really have anything to do with what's recommended/essential reading.
Lending copies are out on the floor and you can take them out for a week at a time (You can renew them online for up to 8 weeks unless someone else requests it), while Short term lending copies are in a separate area from the rest of the library and you can take them out for 5 hours (I think) at a time but you can't take them out of the library.
