Wouldn't touch him. He didn't so much when he was with us, and has done less since he left. He's a luxury, and not a cheap one.

Do some people have selective memories or what?

Benayoun was our best attacking player for at least a season and a half. Before that he was a very effective impact player, who arguably should have been given more game time. He had the potential to frustrate, but he was also a very important player for a good chunk of his Liverpool career.

He was like our Iniesta - didn't score that many or directly create goals but at crucial times he delivered that bit of quality to break a game - Fulham and Real away in particular.

Villa apparently in for spearing... Haven't seem much of him that impressed. What's the skinny on him?

Excellent workrate, attitude and stamina. He's a decent tackler and will recycle the ball but is not creative. Limited technically but would be a good buy if the price is right.

Honest as the day is long defensive midfielder. Limited technically and undersized, but makes up for a decent amount of his failings through workrate and determination.

Very uncomfortable if he's one of two midfielders in a 4 - 4 - 2, ideally would be played as the sitting player in a middle three.

I think he gets too much stick.

Decent enough player, not a world beater by any means but is happy to warm the bench and play second fiddle without complaining.

    I hope he stays tbh.

Tactically, it doesn't seem astute to me the way we have handled the Carroll situation. Was there another way other than alerting everyone to the fact we REALLY want him sold, putting us in the position of receiving bids that completely undervalue the player.

Pretend you don't want to sell him, play him a bit and get him in the shop window (too late now obviously). it should be obvious to others that he doesn't fit into the system and let clubs approach us based on that view of the situation. Could you command a higher fee that way.

The way it is now, I feel we will either get too low a fee, or he won't be sold, or played, and his value could decrease further.

I don't see how the club has been subjected to bids which undervalue Andy Carroll - £12-15m IMHO is probably a realistic valuation for Carroll - forget the fact that we overpaid by about 20m for him

Ba cost Newcastle nothing in terms of a transfer fee.

Liverpool are set to sign Samed Yesil, an 18 year old forward, from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in the region of £1 million.

And players who move for transfer fees don't?

Go online and have a look at the club published figures with regards to how much Liverpool have paid in agent fees over the last couple of years. Think only Chelsea have beaten us on that front for the 20010/11 and 2011/12 seasons.

The mole fella is a complete joke. I didn't think anyone was taking him seriously, he doesn't even seem to take himself seriously :pac: Someone on rawk said we would be signing an unknown striker and the mole just ran with the first name that was suggested.

Best attacking player? Ahead of Gerrard and Torres? I think not. Like Maxi, he occasionaly looked like a world beater, and scored some very important goals. But by the time he left, I don't think we were losing much. And looking at his impact at Chelsea and Arsenal, he looks like a spent force. Certainly not worth bringing him to play ahead of someone like Sterling, Shelvey, Henderson or Assaidi...

Let me rephrase. He cost more than normal in agents fees as far as I know Mr Pimp:D

Can safely say that I don't have a clue about him as I have never seen him play.

A quick check online shows he has only played in one league game for Bayer

Was it not in the region of 500k? So less than what Joe Cole cost us in agent fees.

    Howdy all! Arsenal fan here.

Any word on the team news for tonight game against Hearts? Wonder will BR rest some players ahead of the Arsenal game on Sunday. Lucas would have been a cert to start against Arsenal. Very good player, big loss! You don't want to concede an early away goal or that will make things a bit nervy. KO @8.05PM.

Yesil wasn't in the Leverkusen 1st team when they played at Anfield a few weeks ago from what I can see. Probably one for the reserves for now.

Never heard of him. I don't follow them on twitter but people quote the mole all over the place as he can be quite funny. "Just off the mole phone folks and guess what ........." :P

Would expect at least 6 or 7 players to be rested ahead of the win against Arsenal. ;)

As the Sahin thing unfolded, he was ahead most of the time. So either he has good sources, or follows someone else on Twitter that I haven't spotted...

    German/Turk maybe Sahin had a wisper ;)

We don't have van Persie anymore to win it at the death! Should be a very good open game! :)

I'd have thought that means Carroll is going nowhere if that comes about, one for the future though.

Striker for the Next Gen squad, with Morgan either out on loan or travelling with the first team...
