One sub for the week, Kagawa in for Mata.

I think this is the strongest 11 that I can field, but I am taking a bit of a gamble putting in Clyne ahead of an injured Coloccini and Hangeland. Don't fancy either of their fixtures though.

    Any opinions?

Coloccini and Hangeland offer a goal threat but i think you are rite to go with Clyne at home to Wigan

    My team for this week.

    teamgw2.jpg

Replaced Aguero with Van Persie. Only change I'm considering is moving Llana to #1 sub.

Looking for an opinion on this team please. I still have my sub to make, Would Tevez for Aguero be the most obvious swap?

Yes. Unfortunately you've already lost a bit of ground here in that Tevez is gone up .2 and Aguero is gone down, but both are likely to continue to move in the same direction, so the sooner the better!

Not having used any transfers, my team is currently looking like this for GW2:

    Green

    ---Zabaleta
    Ivanovic
    Clarke

    Dyer
    Hazard
    Bale
    McClean

    ----Tevez
    Torres
    Graham

    Jussi, Cazorla, Gorkss, Hangeland

Pretty happy with how it's shaping up, considering my only 'away' players are Green, Zab and Tevez. A lot of choices for captaincy.

or should I do Torres --> Tevez who is playing Liverpool(A) or should I just wait next week and get him next week when Chelsea don't play??

Solid Midfield, maybe at the cost of your defence though!! Will Rafael start? I doubt Reading will keep a clean sheet against Sunderland.

    Any thoughts appreciated :

Had a decent first week - 99 points

    Considering McClean in for Noble
    Or Graham in for Pog
Or None of the above - sit tight and keep the transfer

    Team currently :

    Bergovic
    Ivanovic
    Zab
    Clark
    Michu --Santi Cazorla--Bale - Nasri
    Torres----Pog----Tevez

    Bench : Schwarzer --Noble--Coloccini--Harte

    Decent = 99 points?

Jeez I thought my score of 55 was decent. I'll have to re-evaluate my week now.

Please lads I'm tearing my hair out here, I don't know who to bring in at all. My team at the moment is:

    Zabaleta, Rafael, Cuellar,
    Lampard, Bale, Yaya Toure, Kagawa
    Tevez, Torres, Pog

    Subs: Jussi, Clyne, Hangeland, Kacilinac

Em I would probably just get rid of Yaya and Torres and get in RVP and a mid of your choice, Michu or Sessengon or someone?

If you really want RVP then you could just use one transfer this week and then your free one next week? I'm doing something similar but not for RVP cus I can't afford him.

OK, wildcard played, currently looking at:

    Foster / Begovic

    Zabaleta / Rafael / Cuellar / Simpson / Demel

Hazard / Michu / Pienaar / Santi Cazorla / Kacaniklic

Tevez / Van Persie / Graham

    £0.9m in the bank.

    Anyway, my reasoning:

Foster and Begovic are almost perfect rotation for the season (36 weeks out of 38). Stoke were a stupid tackle in the last minute away from keeping a clean sheet in week 1 and kept one against Arsenal today. Very strong at home. West Brom look to be a lot better than I thought they would be under Clarke. Foster also has potential for decent save points every week. A good combination at £9.5m IMO.

Cheap (ish) Man City and Man Utd coverage in defence and Rafael is very attacking minded so great potential for goals/assists. Those two will play for me almost every week (I'll switch to Lescott from Zabaleta with a bit of re-jigging when Richards is back in a month or so and Lescott starts playing every week) with Cuellar and Simpson both strong at home and rotating perfectly for the whole season. Man City/Man Utd/Sunderland or Newcastle at the back should serve me well. I'll have Demel as an option too and West Ham should be reasonably tough to break down at home.

Hazard speaks for himself and I needed to get him in before further price rises. Almost everyone in my private leagues have him and while posting very good scores in weeks 1 and 2 I can't afford to be without him any longer, even if he doesn't have a game this upcoming week. Michu is pretty much the same as Hazard. Now I know most will tell me to downgrade Foster and defence to get in Kagawa, but I'd rather Pienaar for the fact that in my private leagues he has a shockingly low ownership so is a great differential for me and is guaranteed to play (and usually 90 minutes) when fit, I wouldn't be as sure on Kagawa's playing time even though he will score well when playing. I'd also rather have coverage of another player in a team doing well (Everton) rather than 3 Man Utd players. Cazorla is at the heart of everything Arsenal do, takes set pieces and (with the exception of a couple of games) from gameweek 7 to around gameweek 22 has an extremely kind fixture list that will favour a player like Cazorla. They will click soon and start hammering smaller teams and I can see him being an assist machine, similar to what Fabregas was like a few years ago in this game. Kacaniklic is the substitute and easily the best £4.5m midfielder available.

The front 3 I'm delighted with and they don't need much of a description. They will score goals all season.

*** I'll probably put Bale in for Cazorla this week and then use my free transfer next week to transfer Cazorla back in. Bale is at home to Norwich this week and Cazorla has a tricky game away to Liverpool so I think that's the best thing to do. There's also no way Bale or Cazorla go up or down by more than I have in my bank so I can be safe in the knowledge I have the cash to do it even if prices rise or fall.

So what do you think then? Any thoughts, criticisms etc please? Cheers lads!

Based on the opening couple of weeks it's a good team.

The goalkeepers are both decent choices, if you're confident that WBA are going to have a good season. Both are the cheapest coverage in their respective defenses.

Being honest I'm not keen on Newcastle this year. I just don't think they'll have the type of season they did last year. (This will probably turn out to be completely wrong and they'll win the league!). Based on fixtures I'd be considering putting in a Swansea defender. I know you'll have 3 Swansea players then but they have a great run of fixtures.

I'd pick McCartney above Demel but that's just personal choice.

Hazard and Michu both speak for themselves.

I have Pienaar myself and think he's a good investment.

Cazorla h[as yet to prove it in terms of FF points. He has been involved in everything Arsenal have done though. So on the assumption that Arsenal will decide to score at some point I'd imagine he'll be part of it. The way they've played the first two weeks you'd swear they were missing a striker. :D:D:D

I'm not sure about Kacaniklic - he had one decent game and there seems to be a bit of a band wagon movement with him. Still, he's cheap and looks like he'll get plenty of game time so I guess in terms of points to price ratio he's probably decent value.

The front 3 is the same as mine and gives you the United and City coverage you need up front due to the fact that you've no City or United midfielders.

If I was picking a WC team now I think this would be pretty much it. Everyone will have different opinions on certain players (Simpson with me for example) but these are easily interchangeable week to week.

The lack of Spurs coverage could be a problem if they get their act together, but as you've noted in your text Bale is easily interchangeable with Cazorla with the funds you have in the bank.

Really appreciate the detailed response mate, cheers.

Agree with almost everything you've said, even the Newcastle stuff especially as they have the extra European games to contend with, but I still see them picking up a decent amount of clean sheets at home. Simpson is also guaranteed to play every week (unless they sign a RB before the deadline, very possible in fairness) and seems to be a bit of a bonus points magnet. They also rotate perfectly with a Sunderland side who will be strong at home so that's basically why I've gone for him. I know Swansea have some good fixtures but I really wouldn't like to be depending on 3 of their players every week, probably better for me to mix it up a little bit.

I was considering sticking McCartney in but I think he and Demel will continue to be their full backs so like you say that one is just personal preference for both of us.

Kacaniklic is basically a guaranteed substitute every week for me and more than likely will go long periods of 2 or 3 points a week in the game but has the potential for a big haul every now and again. As the cheapest midfielder I think he's the best choice for me and I won't be depending on him much anyway (I hope).

I'm pretty happy with my team now and like you say I can interchange a player every week or when needed with the cash in the bank and the free transfer to work with.

    Thanks again Shane :)

148 points after two weeks. However only 8 men played in the second one, and about the same number would play in the third without transfers - so I played the wildcard. Following a policy of investing heavily in defence, as I think that offers the most bang for the buck. Here is my team now:

    Howard
    Schwarzer

    Rangel
    Baines
    Vermaelen
    Evra
    Ivanovic

    Duff
    Michu
    Hazard
    Kacaniklic
    Kagawa

    Ba
    Tevez
    Moore

The team is worth 100.5, and I have 0.2 in the bank. This is thanks to starting with Hazard, and transferring in Michu quickly.

Is he a worse choice than any other 4.5m forward? I dont even know who he is - I just got him because the numbers seemed the best for anyone in the position and price range. He's just there as a third sub.

Need an improvement and wildcarded this week. Thoughts on this team:

    Begovic - Foster

    Baines - Simpson - McCartney - Clyne - Cuellar

    Michu - Hazard - Carzola - Kagawa - Yaya

    Tevez - Podolski - Crouch

I'd swap Cole or Torres personally.
