Actually, I would agree with you but my son is having a blast using it with Disneyland Adventures.

Sadly there is nothing on the market that would entice me to use it.

Even the killer app for me, or at least the game that was to be the killer app for the Kinect, Child of Eden, turned out to be better played with the controller!

Ok, I agree with you on that. For kids its a whole lot of fun and Child of Eden is indeed (IMHO :))better with the pad.
Maybe Kinect 2 will be better http://kotaku.com/5933549/rumor-first-leaked-kinect-2-image-shows-fingers-and-head-patting

    Latest Retro Gamer mag cover.
I kind of get a kick out the Astro Wars pic as I was just playing my one the other day. I know a few peeps here have one as well so hopefully the article is interesting on it.

    339009gif.jpg
This month’s Retro Gamer features a world exclusive feature about some of the most important electronic games to ever get released. We’ve spoken exclusively to Chris Rycroft, the co-founder of Grandstand to discover the origins behind Astro Wars, Caveman, BMX Flyer and other classic handheld games.

We also celebrate the Commodore 64’s 30th anniversary, speak to the key developers of the Amiga’s shareware scene and catch up with Andrew Braybrook to discuss the creation of his hit C64 game Uridium.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s an interview with Keith Hamilton, the lead designer of Grand Theft Auto, an exhaustive look at some of the PC Engine’s best and quirkiest games, as well as the best Nintendo games that you’ve never played.

20 Nintendo games I never played? I bet I've played nearly all of them.

Interview with Jazza Rignall should be good, he was and still is one of the best videogames journalists and his articles on digital foundry are great. He's from a time when games magazines were fun to read and not full of the dry EDGE style articles.

He's also from a time when haircuts are best left forgotten. :pac:

Isn't that Richard Leadbetter (sp?) chap from Digital Foundry also from the same era of journalism? Seem to remember reading reviews by him and Jazz in c&vg. He was a newer addition to the c&vg team iirc.

Yep, sorry I always get them mixed up since they worked on the same magazines and had equally dodgy haircuts! I think jazza has his own company or something last time I heard about him.

Not a terrible price considering its adverts.
Think I paid around 40-50 for my boxed one on ebay a good while back.

Anyone play World of Warcraft here?
I've not played it in over 200 days and just managed to get access to my account after my iPhone authenticator failed.
Anyway, the guy on the phone said I should get someone to send me something called "the scroll of resurrection"??

    Anyone help?

Sorry, retired from that addiction couple of years ago so can't send you a scroll. A current player can and it gives you 30 days free play afaik.

/Edit: Maybe try the mmo forum to see if someone can send you one?

    Cheers, I might try that.
Not really wanting to get into it again but it was annoying me that I was locked out of it.

Could never see you guys as WoW players! You both seem far too sensible to get addicted to something which eats up so much of your gaming time and life!

It was 3+ years ago before I had kids and a mortgage. One addiction gets replaced with another I guess.

It's amazing the amount of addictions you can fit into a day if you only sleep 3-4 hours :D
I'm not really big into WoW to be honest. I usually play it for a few weeks each year and then give up as its just too time consuming.

don't think I'd have the patience for WOW, I'd probably just end up doing a Leeeeeeeroy Jenkins.

I dont know how he does it. I usually get 6 (maybe 5 and a half at worst). Any less than 6 and I can't function for most of the morning in work. Feel like I'm hung over or something similar. Concentration is more or less at zero.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

I think your body just gets into a routine.
If I get more than about 7 hours I feel very sluggish, I work off about 6&1/2 most days, maybe 5-5&1/2 if I'm in work early.
Always been a morning person, so I just work through it, and when I get home take about an hour to zone out (not sleeping/napping), and then get a 2nd wind.

I do catch up on sleep every so often. Like tomorrow I'll have a nice lie in as I've only slept about 8 hours in the last 3 days.
I've been to the doc about this and seen specialists and all that lark over the years. I just don't need more sleep.
When I do need more sleep I usual have it but on average its shocking low amounts to most people.
But on the plus side I do my best work between 3 and 5am :)

I'm the exact opposite! Total night owl. I'm a troll in the morning. Luckily for everyone I work with I've about an hour commute to wake up somewhat. If I was living closer and didn't have that I'd be like a moody teen with everyone for the first hour or so :D

I've read that some people just don't need as much sleep as others. I guess it's a good thing, as it means you spend more of your life conscious!

I was really wreaked after a stressful week in work and slept from 3am till 3pm this afternoon. Could have slept longer but I felt I was wasting the day.

I walk to work most days, so that wakes me up very quickly

Any of you guys give Speed X 3D a go on the 3DS? It's really good. Kind of like if you mixed a tunnel racer with Rez and Kurushi. Probably the best use of 3D depth I've seen so far.

    Only 3 euro too!

    3 euro? Where? Marketplace thing?

Bought it, then realised I have it already on the phone!
Never mind, the 3D is striking even though the game itself is sparse.
I know you reckon it's a Rez vibe but that was stripped back as a style, SpeedX is that way so it would run fast on an Android phone.
    Still looks good though.

The ceilings are high in the house, so you need to stand up on a chair to reach them. I dragged a chair out to the landing (also to note, it was missing the seat part so I had to try to balance on the wooden frame) and managed to get the smoke alarm open in my sleepy daze.
Why do you have this chair?! O_o

Any of you into Urbex (Urban Exploration of old/abandoned sites)? Was looking through 28dayslater.co.uk & seen a thread about Pontins holiday center in the UK. Look whats just sitting there :(

I know that holiday park!

In fact I used to go there quite often as a youngster, adolescent, teenager-that-just-discovered-beer-and-20/20. There is a 90% chance I've actually played on that cab and cleared the game.

Even back then it was £1 a credit. A bottle of 20/20 was about the same though...

Didn't know the Pontins closed down though. There were stacks of arcades in Hemsby, my friend was stabbed in the face outside one of them in fact... True story, thought I'd share. :)
