That reminds me if Q just markets iPhones to Bond I shall be annoyed. 'James, this is an iPhones 4s and here's an app that I got off the store. At the click of the bottom it will knock your enemies out and it was developed by a child in Colorado....' :o

Wouldnt happen he'd be showing Bond a Sony phone, along with a Vaio laptop, Sony do love showing their products off in movies.

Product placement in the Bond films doesnt bother me too much he's always used real cars, watches etc, its just silly that we're expected to believe everyone uses Vaio laptops and you never see someone cursing at it not working :pac:

Is Q even really needed in the "new" bond? I mean he doesnt really use gimmiky gadgets and even if he did it would have been neater to just mention Q but never let you see him.

They took a lot of the camp atmosphere out with the reboot but looking at this guy he seems massively out of place like he belonged in pre reboot bond. Hopefully screen time for him will be minimal.

Hell , even a guest appearance from Parkinson as Q would have been better.

Yeah but remember that big minority report style computer in QOS. I think they're leaning back to the campy camp.

love the way the Bond theme is worked into that trailer, is David Arnold doing the music again? he's given Bond a great sound since John Barry.

edit: actually he isnt, Thomas Newman is (shoulda guessed from Mendes' involvement) interesting choice given Newman usually does more reserved and emotional pieces instead of action scores. I'd love John Powell to get a crack at a Bond score, the most underrated composer in movies today imo, his How To Train Your Dragon score is a masterpiece.

I know gear's cheap these days but is crack?!?!

You don't agree David Arnold has given the recent Bond movies a good musical score? You could just say that instead of spouting nonsense phrases.

How the hell's SKYFALL going to compare with
with every other big budget braindead release
    this year?

    With a decent plot?

Maybe a three way combo of TINKER
TAILOR, MR RIPLEY and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE? Throw in a dash
of THE DARK KNIGHT? And maybe a bit of MAD MAX 2? ;)

    Whatever.

    Here's hopin'... :)

    Roll on Oct!

Saw the first poster for this the other day in the cinema. Really looking forward to it and subsequently rewatching all the old Bond films between now and October.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

Bond movies usually avoid the summer releases anyway.

Well, Mendes has certainly put his stamp on it. It has that same carefully composed, storyboarded look as his other films. I assume he also rehearsed it to death.

Yeah, I still think Q looks like a walking cliché but anyways; the film certainly appears to be a looker if nothing else, and hopefully the action will be better directed than the last outing. That said, the more I see Craig as Bond the more I find myself utterly hating the character overall. That's not speaking as a Bond-hyperfan I should add, I just find this new direction beginning to really grate at this stage.

Serious minus points for a trailer that spoils most of the fun in the journey, fair warning to anyone coming into this thread: surely directors / scriptwriters must hit the roof when they see their twists & surprises spoiled in a splashy, over-edited plot trailer

Is that the trailer doing the rounds with all the blockbusters at the moment?

  • Registered Users Posts: 134 ✭✭Paudie223

They actually released 2 different trailers today. I'm hoping they haven't given too much away.

Craig is just not Bond ,he looks like a thug .
No charm, charisma,or intelligence ,he doesnt fit the bill.
He looks like he had an accident with a lawnmower in that trailer, bloody awful haircut .
    Trailer looks underwhelming .

I have read about 6 or 7 of Fleming's Bond books and Daniel Craig plays Bond as close as possible to character in the books. He may not have black hair but to be honest that doesn't matter. He's tough and slick at the same time.

I for one am very happy with the direction Bond has taken, Casino Royale was very true to the book. They have had to go with more realistic scripts as the camp feel that the older movies had was simply not going to draw the crowds any more. The Brosnan and Moore movies had completely lost their way (Excluding Goldeneye). Brosnan was a good Bond but the scripts he was given were just awful and ridiculously camp. Towards the end of Moores tenure it was farcical.

    Trailer looks very promising.

Trailer looks great, didn't think it gave away anything really.

As usual Craig looks the part and he's a great actor to boot. A 100% more charisma than the lame Brosnan anyway.

The word 'Resurrection' seems to be a key ingredient whatever that means, really looking forward to this now.

I think he's the best James Bond so far, definately the closest to how he was in books. But film Bond and Book Bond are almost 2 different characters at this point and people look for different things.
He and Dalton are the only Bonds so far that don't have that creepy sex pest vibe about them
