My (probably) 5th draft. It's extremely annoying trying to pick. Towards the end of last season if you wanted 2 top strikers and 3 tops mids with a decent enough bench.... no problem!!!! Start of the season is always the worst thanks to having 100 million to spend not 110 odd million when your team value increases. I never really thought about that until trying to pick my team now. I'm taking the 3 6 mil range mids/Aguero+Rooney/a few top defenders and average bench route.

A lot of the above will be changed soon. Reading and Chelsea have a blank GW3 so a 2 of them will be gone after 2 weeks. Hopefully Harte starts now. He's an exciting prospect. My front 3 is probably the most popular front 3 atm but after GW3 I'll be getting Rickie Lambert in for Pog. (Thats the plan anyway). I can't see myself changing my front 3 from now til the start unless VP stays with Arsenal. Hopefully he doesn't though. It kind of ruins the fun of the game with him in it to be fair.

Definitely need a better bench, IMO. It's one thing having a 3rd sub as dead wood (Ferguson last season), but to have 3 pretty-much-useless subs is too much. Especially with the likes of City, United, and Chelsea players subject to possible rotation.

I'd also try find a better sub keeper. The key this season will be in finding a cheap starting home/away combo like Vorm/Krul last season. The only time I'd stick a dead-wood keeper on my bench is if I was investing big money into a top keeper to play every game.

I'm looking at Begovic myself. Will have to wait though to see if he's in the first team as a regular.

    Cheers.

Mignolet and Krul might be an interesting home/away combination, for those wanting to spend a bit on a their goalkeepers.

Ok heres mine, I realise there are question marks over Harte with Shorey being signed so ill be looking out for readings pre season games to see if Harte starts, im also banking on Pienaar going back to Everton and ill be keeping an eye out for michu and his price

it makes no sense having two defenders from City and a goalie/defender from United.

I'd take the opposite view. City and United will more than likely keep the most clean sheets so it makes sense to pack your back 7 with their players.

I tend to have my cheapest players in midfield in general bar maybe one big player because I think defenders/keepers/strikers are bigger point earners.

Just a personal thing but I wouldn't feel comfortable starting Silva this season, seem to be off the pace a bit at the euros and I think he might need a bit more time before he will be back flying in the premier league.

Silva - Kagawa/Nani etc would spread your attacking options and give you an extra bit to maybe strengthen your defence/other midfielders.

you have too much money spend on defenders and at that your playing 3 at the back, theres no point in spening so much money on your defence and then having an expensive defender on the bench

Valid point about Silva, though I'm wary of any of the united midfielders because of rotation.

My own team below. Not sure how I feel about it, obviously have to see what happens with Tevez. I did have Aguero and a weaker midfield but if Tevez does stay around and start regularly he should score just as well as Aguero.

Thats simply just not true and the data of past seasons is there for proof, defenders score the least amount in this game, its usually strikers that score the most like last season but in seasons gone by with Lampard, Ronaldo and fabregas its midfielders that have had the edge

    .

Silva scored 2 goals and 3 assists at Euro 2012, not bad for a player who was "off form"

Yes the stats are not bad at all but it is just an observation on my part looking at how he played in the euros vs how he played throughout the season. I thought he looked a bit lethargic throughout it and I think he might suffer a bit at the start of the season. It's just a feeling nothing more. I've no doubt baring injury he should be in the top 5 scoring midfielders come the end of the season I just dont think he is going to start well.

This is what I've come up with so far.

    Begovic - Green

    Cole A - Koscielny - Gunter - Cuellar - Demel

    Hazard - Walcott - Sigurdsson - McCarthy - Frei

    Aguero - Rooney - Petric

I'd prefer Mignolet to Begovic but where can I downgrade to find the extra half million. Feedback/opinions welcome please.

Still can't get the hang of this posting pictures lark:confused:

Ended up changing this quite a bit last night, quite happy now especially as I have a much better bench. I think I'm just about where I want to be in terms of my team so I won't post it up, but I would advise people to look at the first 8-10 fixtures of each team plus those that may not start the season as first choice due to involvement in the Olympics.

There's plenty of bargains (on paper at least) with some great starts to the season and some far more expensive players that likely won't start the season or will be subject to quite a bit of rotation to start off with, along with tough fixtures to boot.

    Good luck :)

Trying to decide between Tevez and Bent. Obviously Tevez has the potential to score much higher if he's a regular starter, as he's more involved in the general play, so should get more assists and bonus points. But Bent is a goal machine when he gets going, and he's a guaranteed started, unlike Tevez.

    Tough one, any opinions?

For those looking for a defender: Smalling is facing 10 weeks out, Vidic and Evans are doubts for the start of the season. That leaves Man Utd with Rafael, Ferdinand, Jones and Evra. Rafael is probably going to be a key player at the start of the season, and provides a good attacking threat too.
