Looks like in most cases the best actual air cooled options are better and quieter out of the box, but you also end up with >1kg hanging from your motherboard.

Know I'm biased here GCD, but worth looking at one of these babies-FT02 for £167/€214 ish from Scan. You get 3 x 180mm's, positive pressure in case and filters on all fans except the 120mm extract. Clean my filters once a month and have no dust issues, brilliant bearing in mind its sitting on carpet. Add in H80 and you're pushing €300, though worth it if its in a very dusty area.

Asus P67 boards were a bit of a mess. A lot of memory problems so not that surprising they've been falling back. Their high end boards have been good, as always, but their mid ones have really falling in quality over the last few years. Well done Asrock though.

Wasn't the Twin Frozr III 6950 one of the ones that was supposed to unlock extra shaders? I wonder if people were returning them because they were unhappy if they got an unlockable one or if they were flashing bad BIOSs onto them.

Corsair CX series looking relatively crap, but that's what you're paying for. FSP are looking a lot better now. They've been getting good reviews lately alright after having a lot of duds in recent years. Their PSUs make their way into quite a few other brands.

Look at how high return rates are for hard drives in general. Shower of bastards cutting their warranties!

Very nice work by Crucial there taking the top spots with 0.23% for their RAM and SSDs at 0.82%. No surprise that Intel has climbed with the SSDs after taking on the Sandforce drives. They did a better job with them and at least Corsair had the guts to recall their 120GB ones when they new things were going awry. A lot of vertex 2 drives though from last generation not lasting it out though. It's amazing how on many forums everyone was shouting that these were the drives to get and that you didn't need to consider anything else.

Reasons I returned mine was because the crappy cooler made a grinding noise (similar story to my 7850 I just returned) and the card crasshed even when browsing the web )

The card has a dual bios switch on it so I doubt the bad flashing could affect it and while the performance boost is nice, I would not personally return it if it did not unlock to a 6970 tbh

I can't believe they're still trying to flog 4 y/old GPUs on hwvs for over €130 though

is this a good ssd in terms of value. there was a samsung one floating around around the 80 mark for same size, but not anymore it seems.
i dont need huge storage, even a 64Gb would probably do, but considering the cost of this per Gb it seems worth it..
just wondering if anyone has seen a better offer around...
    any help appreciated :)
reading on previous page, seems the manufacturer has a high return rate... though im hoping i wont get a problem ssd, as i generally know what im doing with this stuff :P
(ssd is for an old pc, just want fast boot times on it)

Getting slow boot times, even through a reformat.

Did a benchmark of my SSD then realised I have no idea what I'm looking at.

    Corsair Force3 90GB

    Help?

EDIT: Windows Memory Diagnostic was clean.

    EDIT: Check Disk was fine.

Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem...

My sigged card (HD6850 power edition) has only been in my rig a few weeks after I swapped my reference 6850 for it with my brother.

Anyway I was doing some overclocking with it and reached 950/1150 on stock volts, but then tried a bit of voltage tweaking. Here's where the problems start :o.

I set the Vcore to 1.25 and ran heaven to see what sort of temps I'll be getting. It didn't rise above 60 degrees so that was good. I upped the Vcore to 1.3 and tried again, this time the temperature rose to 61C maximum. That didn't really sound right...

I used GPU-Z to monitor the VDDC when the card was stressed, but it read 1.149 volts. That's the stock voltage!

Why isn't my card overvolting? Or maybe it is and GPU-Z and HWmonitor aren't recording it correctly? I've only been using Afterburner but I tried Trixx and ASUS GPU Tweak, unfortunately they didn't help

    What should I do?

I've never really done anything with SSD's but it seems strange that your 4K read is so much slower than the write, read should always be faster than the equiv write AFAIK.

showing as 107 euro though...and apparently for those who see it cheap once you try and buy it it changes to the 107 mark also

they fixed that and remains the same price in the basket. maybe it's something to do with cookies or something as it seems to be showing up for some and not others, try a different browser or clear your history maybe to see. on the dabs homepage click on the summer sale image on the left and it might show for you

Use Ctrl+F5 to refresh a page completely.
    Still €107.

Isn't it a BIOS flash for cards that wont let you tweak the voltage?

I've never been able to get my 6870 stable over 1000Mhz, 1200Mhz even when I give it loads of power. Don't ask me how much I forgot - I uninstalled Trixx as I wasn't getting any better results than from the catalyst drivers.

    Still €107.

must be a cookies thing maybe, when I check it on the tablet it comes up as €107 alright and that's entering the exact same page as it's showing as the €81.99 which shows when not logged in. tried a different browser on the laptop and shows at the €107 so must be something saved in the cookies or history in chrome that still shows it up at €81.99, still checks out at that price too

Anyone know a good place to pick up an anti-static wrist strap if you've already made your main order from a hardware supplier? If there's nowhere better I can use Amazon, but I don't feel like buying more stuff for super saver delivery and would prefer to have one for under a tenner including delivery...

Cheers, just found a very cheap supplier (quite possibly the same as you) so I'll be using that :)

I know that your way would work, but it's my first build and would really like the peace of mind one would give me plus there are some very cheap ones around). Thanks for the reply

    BAH!
    Installed AI Suite and rebooted.
    Super fast!
"A fluke!", I say "'tis not the first time!"
I shut-down a boot and is all slow again. :(

    hi Genghiz,

I have a similar sabertooth board as you only Z77, however before that I had a MSI Z68 board with same/similar Marvell SATA controller as you have.

Same as you i was getting crap read speeds from a Crucial M4 using the SATA ports controlled by same POS Marvell controller. So i swapped to the Intel ones and my speeds went up to what they were supposed to be.

From a look at the webpage for your board, I would suggest you connect your SSD to one of the intel controlled brown 6Gb/s SATA ports and disable the Marvell controller in the BIOS & see if it makes a difference.

No idea how to disable the Marvell controllers.

SSD was plugged into the Intel 6.0 and my HDDs plugged into Intel 3.0 sockets. Swapped the unmarked orange SATA cable for a black and white one that said SATA 6.0 and we are back in action!

Now to see if it lasts...
    :D
