Damper is just another name for shocks;)

Damper is used for rear shocks thought I thought, but its the rears I got anyway.

You need them to set the clock and trip comp rj and I always use them too. There's no reason for it not to work thought, thousands of people use them in their Astras :(

On the Astra the rear shocks are a different design to the fronts(separate spring and damper set up as opposed to a combined spring/damper set up on the front) but they are still the same thing.

Tescos offering a 10c per litre reduction on their petrol with a €100 shop (and 5c per litre €50 shop)

Is their petrol still ****e? I used it a few years ago and got no where near the mileage I'd get from Esso? Curiousity more then anything.

I hope it's okay to cross post on this forum. Didn't see anything in the charter.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Kayaker wanted to know if it was okay to carry his boat on his roof without roof racks. This personally makes me shudder straight away especially considering that I've lost a boat off a roof before with roof racks and the potential damage a kayak could cause would be pretty big.

Is it legal to carry a load without racks?

    Thread here.

Needed to source a retro looking radio with modern functionality (USB, MP3) for my Merc 560 SEC. Its got some god awful Kenwood POS in it right now.

The obvious choice is a Becker, maybe even the last of the Beckers, the Mexico. However the £2k price tag (ie the value of the car..) kinda making that seem like a silly purchase.
    Looks great though:

What I found is this German company that makes decent spec and cheap headunits, one of which is a retro look that I think actually would fit in with an 80s Merc:
    RCD110_news2.jpg

Also cheaper from the German Ebay suppliers (guess its a local product) than the UK importers:

Only reason I havent bought one is no Bluetooth, a must for car phone connections and maybe BT Audio streaming.

Finally back in my house in paris, couldn't find my bloody car outside the train station:o (ever tried looking for a specific white clio in france?) and corbeil essonne is not the place to be wandering around at night if you are of my 'racial orienation';)

Poor clio got an awful roasting coming up the road, it takes me a couple of miles to remember its not my alfa and no matter how hard i rev it the acceleration is still shoite:D

    My god....that NOISE!

Mate was telling me of a practise to place replaced parts on the passenger seat when going in for an NCT retest. Anyone else do this? Seems a bit silly to me.

So convincing yourself that €1600 a year road tax is insane is going well I take it?

The oil temp rises fairly sharpish

    That sound though..

    That's ridiculous!

How does that make any sense? The parts in the car are either working on not, having any empty box for a shock, won't make your shocks any better!

    Savage noise alright!

Was just going to point out what 166man said, 1600 a year tax is a bargin when your listening to that noise.

The only M3 that suited me has been sold since Monday. I would love to know why dealers don't take down ads once the car is sold. It only teases people by leaving them up :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,794 ✭✭✭coolisin

Ah shoite, there is nothing worse then that, were a dealer leaves the ad up, happened to the oul lad where he saw a car online in a local garage so decided to pop along to see if it was there.
    Gone 3 weeks!

It's some pain in the hole and an awful prick-tease

Back to the drawing board to see what other cars I could get. To be honest, there's not much that jumps out at me.

Look at your man with a dose of the horn now! :D

What's the criteria, apart from it being an M3 of course........

Powerful, max €15,000 ish, powerful, coupe, not a 335i, at least 2004, oh, and powerful :D

What I don't want is something that everyone else has (i.e. GTI), not that there's anything wrong with them but I prefer to have a car that's rare enough or has a USP. That's why I'm thinking RX8/M3 type cars.

M3 would be so much cooler than an RX8.

Personally the 350z is a great idea and the 645, wouldn't be massively gone on the cl but great ideas there.

If I sold the Jag in the morning I haven't a clue what I'd buy. It's like I've completely lost interest

Would love a Range Rover, alright.

    350Z? 645i? CL500?

350Z - too small, engine too big for the power it puts out and I don't like the look of them.

    645 - they're ugly, engine too big

CL - I'm not a fan of Mercs.

I was pushing my own personal boundaries when it comes to engine size by going for an M3.
