I feel rather dense thought ARM meant Groupo de Armas Especial not Astroga Revolutionary Militia.

A death rag is required. You will need it to avoid getting shot when moving about the game area to respawn, or when lying on the ground bleeding out in the middle of a fire fight and you don't want to get riddled again.

    The hit rules will be:
    • When hit you have a 5 minute bleed out time. You need to be bandaged by a player/medic in that time or you are dead.
    • When hit a second time you also have a 5 minute bleed out time, but ONLY A MEDIC can bandage you.
    • A third hit is always fatal. But you have to remain in place for 5 minutes so your body can be searched.
    • If not bandaged inside the 5 minute bleed out time you die. Again stay put for 5 minutes to be searched.
    • Respawn is from your base/faction respawn point, and is 30 minutes after you were originally shot.

When hit you can't talk to anyone other than calling for a medic. It is recommended that you put on your death rag so you don't get shot again.

There won't be gun hit rags this year. A gun hit disables the gun until it is brought back to the supply tent in your base for repair.

More a general Q - than game specific.

Are we allowed to use the small portable disposable BBQ's in the main Friday night camp for Dinner / Breakfast? Also are we allowed a few brews on site for Friday night?

Rather ask now and save the embarrassment of being told on the night to put it out - esp if its my dinner that's half cooked at the time =P

    Thanks

Just a heads up for anyone travelling to Rionegro who may not have their own transport.

I've a minibus booked (14 seats) to take myself and a few others to Rionegro and back, however we still have quite a few spaces left.

21.43 is the price per seat, which includes transport there and back, and possibly a few bottles of champagne (I do a lot of business in my job with the bus company being used :pac:). The minibus will leave from somewhere in north Dublin. (Swords most likely, but I could have it leave from the city centre if needs be).

I'm not making any money on this. 300 is the total price for the minibus. I'd be happy to show the receipt, and I don't work for the bus company, nor am I related to anyone that works there or anything like that :).

If more than 14 people are interested I can look into getting a bigger bus (I get pretty good rates). Or if anyone thinks they can get it cheaper I'm all ears.

If anyone is interested just send me a pm.

Right, sorry for the delay I have an answer. Raised stoves and so on are not a problem (subject to the usual be careful with fire rules). But portable BBQs will not be allowed in the game area. You may use them on Friday night in the safe zone with proper fire pits.

    From GlobalStrategy.Org
    25 July 2012
Captured Orders Raise Questions about Domiguan Activity in Rionegro

The Republicano military press office has released details of a what they claim is part of an Operational Order issued to Domiguan Special Forces units operating in Rionegro. It has been known for some time that King Fernando of the neighbouring Kingdom of Domigua has been providing military “advisors” to assist the Patriota rebellion led by former general Veron.

These advisors have been operating under the designation of the “Enlace Especial de Grupo de Asistencia” (Special Liaison Assistance Group) known as the GdA. They are believed to be primarily made up of members of the Royal Domiguan Commando special forces, supplemented by specialists in logistics, communications and military intelligence. This unit was rumoured to have been engaged in “special reconnaissance” missions in Rionegro last year.

The Republicano military claim they captured a GdA Operational Order document (reproduced below) when they overran a Patriota field HQ in the early stages of their current advance. According to the Republicanos, a Domiguan Captain was in the process of destroying papers when he was challenged and shot. This is one page that was recovered.

The orders appear to be addressed to all GdA units operating in Rionegro, and originate with General Francisco Ferrera who is known to command the Royal Domiguan Army Intelligence, and is believed to be a close personal friend of King Fernando.

It provides a summary of the current military situation, and appear to confirm the difficulties the Patriotas are facing in resisting the current Republicano offensive. If the orders are true then they raise questions about the true activities and intentions of the GdA units. They mention a move from “advisor/observer” to “active status” though it is not clear what is meant by this. While the orders confirm that GdA units are to support the Patriotas, they don’t seem to distinguish between friendly Patriota and hostile Republicanos when it says to “gather intel on participants in the Rionegron Civil War”.

General Veron has built a diverse coalition in his Patriota movement, bringing in support from Multinationals like Houston based Gollybruton (who have funded large PMC detachments), as well as the Domiguans. There have been rumours of tensions between these different groups. This is very apparent in the document as it states that PMCs are not to be trusted.

More ominously there is repeated mention preparing for “Plan Rapier”, though no details are available on what exactly it entails.

If this document is legitimate, and the Domiguans have refused to comment on it, then its capture has been a coup for the Republicanos. Presumably they did not recover the rest of it, and they will keen to learn more about what the GdA and King Fernando are up to in Rionegro.

    OPERATIONS ORDER
ENLACE ESPECIAL DE GRUPO DE ASISTENCIA OPERATING IN RIONEGRO

    I. SITUATION
Large scale Republicano operation are under way with three main lines of advance. Patriota forces have been seriously disrupted and are falling back in most areas. There is a significant threat to San Luis and San Lomo. All Grupo de Assistencia (GdA) units are to activate Plan Tear Drop, and move from advisor/observer roles to active status. Begin preparations for Plan Rapier.

    (a) Enemy
Republicano forces are progressing on three main lines of attack. Each advance appears to be primarily made of up regular infantry supplemented by criminal conscripts and specialist weapons and engineering units. Recon units typically precede the main forces. Expect detached units of platoon size with larger formations of company to Battalion size. The Republicanos are focusing on their advance, isolating strong points to be mopped up by following troops. Anticipate them to act aggressively towards Patriota centres of resistance.

    (b) Friendly
The composition of Patriota forces will depend on your area. The bulk of capabilities to be provided by regular infantry with gaps in some specialist skills areas. Many units have been disrupted by the Republicano advance and may no longer be coherent or combat effective until they have reformed. Expect to encounter PMCs who officially report to Patriota High Command. However we remain suspicious of their real loyalties. Do not trust or depend on PMC forces.

    (c)
There will be limited contact with other GdA units. Each team is required to operate independently.

    II. MISSION
In line with Plan Tear Drop the mission remains advancing the interests of Domigua in Rionegro. The primary objectives are:
    • Support Patriota defences in resisting Republicano advances.
    • Continue to gather intel on participants in the Rionegron Civil War.
    • Prepare for the possible implementation of Plan Rapier.

    III. EXECUTION
    (a) Concept of Operations
Because of the risk to Patriota supply lines each GdA unit should transition [end of the page]

Mystery Satellite is Rionegron, China Claims
By Manual Muentes, Associated Press – 1 day ago

The People's Republic of China confirmed that the payload on the Long March rocket launched yesterday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre was of Rionegron origin. Speculation as to its nature had exploded following the launch with some suggesting it was a Chinese weapons platform.

The Central American country of Rionegro has been in the news lately for its ongoing civil war between supporters of President Eduardo Munoz and the Patriota rebels who demand elections. Numerous claims have been made by both sides of external interference and illegal arms shipments which continue to be investigated by the UN.

A source at the US Department of Defence who asked not to be identified, suggested the launched device was probably a military surveillance and communications satellite. They confirmed that they had known the Rionegrons had been constructing it for some time. The project was dramatically expedited after the disastrous campaign in the Trompeta region last year but when pressed they were unable to definitely identify its purpose.

A spokesman for President Munoz had only this to say "The government is committed to improving communications for both the humble citizens of our proud nation and the brave men who even now fight to defend our country and national unity".

We are going to have limited use of ATGMs and mortars in the game. The rules are just being finalised now and not everyone needs to be an expert on the full details. ATGMs effects will mostly be handled by marshals, and for mortars you mainly need to know to hit the dirt when you hear explosions.

But we will need "experts" who have been briefed on how to make these advanced weapons systems work:
    • ATGM Specialist - each ATGM will have a 2-3 man crew who will need to know how to fire the system.
    • Forward Observers - who can direct mortar strikes from (marshal) Fire Direction Centres.
The full rules for ATGMs and mortars will go out soon, and when the factions are closer to being full we will make a call for volunteers. There will probably be 4-5 of each per faction.

Are you ready to step up to for some heavy weapons use?

We had a rush of bookings last night, and the Republicano "Hunter Force" Recon unit is now full.

If you are looking for something similar (recon unit focusing on stealth, concealment, information gathering, and avoiding big fire fights), then the Patriota Groupo de Asistencia (GdA) is the best alternative. Although these guys will be a bit more hard core. They are the successors to the Special Forces unit of last year, and players will be expected to carry all their equipment, and sleep rough in the field.

The updated (v1.1) rules are now available here: http://goo.gl/pNM1X

    The main changes are:
    • Updated radio channels.
    • How to identify game props.
    • Section added on Heavy Weapons.

Everyone is expected to have read all the rules, and if anything is unclear feel free to ask!

IHS Janes': Defense and Security Intelligence & Analysis
    Extract
    By Carl Moynihan
    07/02/2012

One interesting innovation that has arisen from the Rionegron civil war is the deployment by the "Republicano" forces of new "Special Weapons Groups" (SWG). These appear to be a response to poor performance in the Trompeta campaign of last year where communications breakdowns prevented various specialist resources from being available to front line commanders. Those resources which were deployed in the area seemed to be following their own agenda separate from the main forces which hurt integrated operations.

The SWGs appear to be units put together of specialists of various types and embedded in advancing formations. This somewhat eclectic mix of different troops and deployment philosophy creates a unit with a clear supporting role but a very direct force focus. The SWGs carry out small engineering functions, signals and demolitions as would be expected of a true engineering or signals unit, but being directly deployed in the front lines and grouped with other disciplines means that they operate in more of a combat role than even the celebrated 43rd Republican Engineers. This unit also integrates anti-tank assets, ordinance experts and combat troops with appropriate backgrounds and training which should give it an interesting role on the battlefield.

The organisation does seem to have significant cross-training advantages as well as presenting an easily directed tool for front line commanders. Whether this approach is viewed as a success however will greatly depend on its performance in upcoming operations which ultimately will be determined by how well commanders put such units to use.

We thought we should remind people that the ticket price includes a few extras as well as a 27 hour MilSim game.

There will be a post game barbecue for all players on Sunday when the shooting stops at 15:00. The cost of the food is covered!

All players will be getting the official Rionegro Initiative game patch. This year's design will look like this:

Without having seen a TA Events map, I'd have to say the map will be more like an OS one. It's a large, mostly rural site, unlike the more urban ones TA run.

The way we are looking at the moment I don't see us taking any more bookings for the Heavies. The unit is already bigger than we had planned. For whatever reason it does seem to have been the most popular one this year.

There is room in 2 units on the Republicano side:
    • Presidential 25th Light Infantry - backbone of the Republicanos and spearhead of their advance. Move fast strike hard, they are well supported with vehicles and heavy weapons. Speaking of which...
    • 38th Engineers - Special Weapons Group - anti-armour, bomb disposal, mining, demolitions, you name it, they specialise in it.

A support gun is not a problem, provided you stick to the 1500 bb limit.

    • 38th Engineers - Special Weapons Group - anti-armour, bomb disposal, mining, demolitions, you name it, they specialise in it.

A support gun is not a problem, provided you stick to the 1500 bb limit.

    Nice one
