Says the man driving the MPS !! :pac:

Now excuse me whilst I wash myself in all my money.

What does the MPS have to do with anything other than if some ape damages it on me, they will pay to repair the damage?

I can see where you're coming from, accidents do happen and where someone takes responsibility and is obviously mortified I'd certainly hate to see someone trying to screw them to the wall over it.

On the other hand, if damage is done and is going to have to be repaired there's going to be a cost involved, and one can hardly blame the owner, especially if they're not rolling in the dough, to cough up for an extra cost incurred through no fault of their own.

It's a balance being stingy / nasty on the one hand, and being out of pocket on the other.

If I was the offender, I'd want to cover the cost; if I was the owner in those circumstances, I'd seek to get the repair done properly but also as cheaply as possible, and play fair with the person responsible given that they had played fair with me.

    I'm with you dude!

I'd be the first to own up and cover the costs.

I've also been in situations where I've been hit and I've let it slide. I am far from rolling in it, believe me.

I just believe in serious karma and if it isn't too much for me to sort myself then I really don't see the issue in letting it slide.

It's very situation dependent and I suppose retrospectively, this isn't a Focus or a Passat that Fiona hit either. Knowing her, she parked beside the nicest car she could find :D

The MPS was covering the rolling in it statement.

    :)

    Of course there is !

It's not just the Mazda you have to buy, tax and insure.

You've one of these to consider too and the driver for it ! :D

I've let minor nicks and dents slide TBH. I've never been too anal about any car I've owned, at least not after a couple months of ownership anyhow. Last place I worked in this completely dizzy cnut reversed right in to me (at very low speed) out of her parking spot. Damage was minor and car wasn't the smartest anyhow (my old E39). Didn't even say sorry she was that thick. The other lads couldn't believe I did nothing about it.

Couple years ago at a car show myself and another lads car got keyed. My paint-work ain't the best (Trans Am) and I planned on getting it re-sprayed anyhow so wasn't all that put out. Still haven't the money to get it re-sprayed yet though (mortgage X 2, tax on the 7er and lots and lots of petrol holding me back). The other lad was doing his nut though, he had just brought the car in the previous week and it was minty.

I had a puppy in my car and we were in residential area with speed limit of 50. so i just said meh to it and traveled like a snail. when i pulled in in to my driveway the kids neck went 180 degrees as he was looking at me through his rear window. oh those young fellas! :o

Sitting in a basement one morning, waiting on a mate to hook up so we could head away in one car when this lass pulls in. Tight space beside me and she drives into it.......... and me...... Then reverses back scraping my car along the side and does the exact same thing again. When I get out to look at it she got and says, "sorry, did I hit you?"

    "did you f*ck!!!!"

I was actually too shocked anybody could be that stupid to do anything about it....................... and it was a company car :D

On a similar note, not due to, but related to the above, does any one feel the forum has become a little confrontational lately? Dunno why, but I feel like people are jumping on each other a lot of late.

Where do you get off, saying people are getting more confrontational? The cheek! I swear, some people....

Not at all - in my four years on boards I think the atmosphere has never been better and the OT thread has a lot to do with that.

The only time I see an issue is when someone starts a thread about something they did and others jump in on their high-horse just to stir the sh1t. Very, very few of the offenders are motors regulars.

Man, this is the most softcore, carebear friendly motoring forum on the internet. There is only one more carebear forum.

I exhibit the following recent threads here that would get the original posters tarred and feathered on any normal forum:

What would happen if you ran over a rat?
Can I get there on 15litres of petrol?
Something fell into my car wheel and I cant drive!
Why should I pay the few cents over on a petrol pump?

I have to agree. OT thread did made it a lot more interesting and friendlier. I personally see people now, instead of random usernames. I can put cars, preferences, likes, characters on names now. Motor forum became really good. Let alone so many great threads lately like clamping ones? Then hit and run one?
Yes we got a few cowboys here, but we need them too. :D
That Audi a4 lad was a good example of some new people who are not really... "great" at communication.
Damn, even I am a very hot headed and used to get warning constantly! I had a collection of those things! Now I don't remember when I had one last time! :) I think we just get a wee bit more mature lads. ;)

i blame one particular poster with a post count far in excess of most who shall remain nameless who is a **** stirring knob jockey of the highest order;)

On the dent thing, if someone caused minor damage to my car, owned up and was obviously mortified (and willing to pay, i would let it go.

Righto, nitromors removed along with pretty much all of the clear coat. Should make sanding a lot easier :D

Are you sure you need to sand it since what is usually the reason for sanding is all stripped?

A fair amount of base paint is still there, as are imperfections. It'll be a case of letting them dry now, sanding back the paint left, cleaning them, metal filler, sand again, then work up the grades, and should be ready for etch primer then.

For all you fellow cork people, theres been a go safe van spot made on the airport hill on your right coming up from bull mccabes and on the link just after the flyover heading towards the exit for Douglas com. It says it's for authorised vehicles only which I presume are speed camera vans.
