I don't understand why people assumed Liverpool delayed in signing him.
After turning down a move that was agreed to Swansea he took a holiday in Florida and let an agent sort things out.
Nothing unusual in that as you can't put a gun to someones head and force them to sign.
Liverpool seem to be trying to be more prudent this summer and that's no bad thing IMO.
Forget Sherwood choosing the player. Ben SMith of the BBC says it was Levy's call and he's usually correct in my experience. :)
Sorry I didn't mean Liverpool delayed in signing him I meant he delayed it and thats why he hadn't signed yet.

RE Sherwood just been promoted in the club Levy definetly has Final say but Sherwood is going to be in charge of youth Development and work with the new Manager to identify targets, he may not of actually started in this role yet though!!

Baines is staying pretty level headed about the links with United, and said that at the moment they are just press links, that there is nothing going on officially anyway.

Have heard Reina is going to Milan

    I doubt it.

Sure Abbiati is as good or better than him.

Why does money have anything to do with Sig signing for Spurs? Spurs have been the better team in the last few years and are based in London. If its a straight choice then I'm sure it wouldn't be an easy one as his previous relationship with Rodgers is good and Liverpool have a certain status. Spurs never blow anyone out of the water with Wages ... Especially a club like Liverpool who have always spent much more on wages than Spurs. Nonsense rumour imo

Deschamps gone from OM. Expected to take over the national side. Ravanelli (!) is a candidate for the Marseille job.

He played there for a while, didn't he ? What's he done since retiring ?

Give over, Reina is a far better keeper! Abbiati still flaps at too many corners. Reina didn't have a great season at Liverpool but considering his age he'd be a fantastic buy for Milan

Considering the price and wage demands, there is far better value to be had.

Abbiati the last 3 seasons > Reina the last 3 seasons.

He's in some minor coaching role at Juventus as far as I know. It would be a bit of a Staunton appointment if it did happen.

Lucien Favre is being linked too but that would be a poor move for him. Not going to happen.

The guy who has just signed him is the same guy who signed him for Villa, never played him in his normal position and then sometimes didn't play him at all.

Roma have signed Nesta on a free transfer...

...12 year old Gianmarco Nesta, nephew of former Lazio and Milan stalwart, Alessandro!

I wouldn't wish it on him and I'd say he'd have more sense than to take the job.

I'd be very disappointed if he left gladbach, not that I expect that to happen anytime soon.

    Massively disagree.

Abbiati has had a fairly stable defence to call upon including the so called best defender in the world, and the rest of the team being a league winning side with a vast amount of experience. Yet, he still isn't very good. Milan can get by with average to above average goalkeeper. Being very kind by even suggesting he's possibly above average.

Reina had a poor season last season, but not a chance I'd swap him for Abbiati. Also I'd question how much you've seen of Reina the two seasons before last. One of our better, more consistent players in Rafa's final season. He wasn't great, but nor was he poor in the Woy/Kenny season.

Oh right, he played 60 Premier League games over two seasons under O'Neill. He played a lot at right back and did well there I thought after a shaky start. I think he is an excellent signing for Sunderland.

Fabio has joined QPR on loan, hopefully it goes the same way as Walker/Welbeck/Sturridge/Wilshire and Cleverley rather then Macheda :)

He'll be playing RB for us I'd imagine. An improvement on Bardsley anyway.

O'Neill seems to favour a solid back line with the main emphasis on defending, a couple of grafters in the middle of the field, with 2 quick wingers and a big striker who can hold the ball up but also get in the box and finish. The perfect set up for a mid-table team to produce counter attacking football really.

Main targets for us next are apparently a striker (all the talk is about Fletcher), a winger who can play on either flank and a LB to replace Richardson when he inevitably moves to London.
