You need a dam* good rest and to stop pushing yourself so hard when your body is plainly just tired and in need of snoozes and naps!
You will have the pleasure of my company for 4 hrs in October so. So I'll need you to carry my phone, my water, change of clothes..... :):)

To serve you would be my pleasure!:)

Probably not the wisest decision to run this, especially seeing your face at the finish line :( Did you hear that all the cool people were running this or something ;)
    Great about the pacing gig.

Sorry, hang on a second, when have I ever been accused of having sense? I didn't get to see your face at the finish line, just the back of your head as you tore home ;)

Yea I think a while off racing could be sensible mate [but as you say yourself, no ever accused you of having sense!]

We all can tend to race to much this time of year with 2 or 3 possible events on every single day!

We all have bad races, sure just notch it up, get a bit more recovery and target the next one.

Watched you head off into the distance on Friday, thought I'd get a bit of a burst later on, but legs said 'No'.

Tough going Slow. Think the best thing is just to plug away, keep up what training you can and wait till you feel ready to race. You will know when you're ready to race. Pushing yourself through it is just going to melt your head.

    5ks are crap anyway. :)

Thanks folks, head down now for a little while but hopefully not too long.

I've volunteered for the 10k so that'll keep me from thoughts of racing it and I'll either have a crack at or a good session in the Frank Duffy. The goal is the half, best course the park can provide imo and a gimme for a pb, hopefully a sub 1:30 :-)

Where did you volunteer for it - should be gaining my superman vision that week so won't be allowed to run it.

I sent them a mail to raceseries@dublinmarathon.ie if it's the wrong place I'm sure Chinguetti, Digger, Claralara or Ray can point us in the right direction!

Chinguetti and I volunteered through BHAA, don't know about the other two...

If I were you I'd concentrate on building up regular, easy miles. Don't think about short races or even interval times for now. Do runs that are easy enough that you'd have no worries about running the next day.

Think BHAA still have it on their site about the 10 miler and the half. Don't remember seeing anything about the 10k on the site though.

Would recommend volunteering for anyone as you see how the other side of things go, be it traffic management or goody bags (which i was doing)

thanks, i actually enjoyed the race:D

So you didn't race but give the appearance of racing.;)

Solution - stop grimacing while racing/running. ClaraLara used to have a big smile on her in every photo until i told her to practice grimacing. So you need to practise smiling.

P.S. Thats a nasty heel strike you have going on there.

Between you and the brother

I wasn't racing because not racing was the sensible thing to do ergo I wasn't there for anyone to take a photo ergo that wasn't a heel strike of mine.:)

And how has that worked out for her?

    4 mile recovery plus 6 x 100m strides

Recovery from what you might ask, recovery from laying a solid wood floor all day yesterday, legs and glutes in bits :(

    Feel better now! :)
