Sounds like a power issue to me. I have an external USB drive that my laptop "sees" once the USB is plugged in but cannot access until I plug in the second USB power booster. However the same drive works perfectly on one USB with my desktop. The drive came with a double USB cable and also has the option of an external mains supply.

But my drive HAS it's own mains power supply!

USB ports on the ariva are not exactly top quality. I moved mine to the rear of the unit. Never worked right beforehand..chased a replacement USB port/harness but no luck*

    *Tony ??????? ;)

    Hi,

I bought one of these in February and am getting "ASH" on the display. I haven't tired to update the firmware at any stage - it just happened this morning. Any ideas?

As already mentioned on this thread this is a known fault and you need to return it for replacement to your supplier.

but in my case it works perfectly with another hard drive, but not with the hard drive that works perfectly on my older ariva in the other room.

Using an Aljazeera card on Hotbird, will the 120 give ya an EPG?

My Ariva 120 developed a problem today.

To cut a long story short, both picture and sound can no longer be delivered to the TV via a HDMI cable. A SCART cable works fine so the receiver itself is processing the saorview/satellite signals. I've checked the HDMI cable on other devices and have also checked that the HDMI input ports on the TV are working fine.

So I'm pretty certain the problem is with the Ariva HDMI output port. Has anyone encountered this before? - is there a setting in the menu that I've missed?

So one minute it's fine, the next it's nt. assuming you have not adjusted anything, settings or otherwise, and you have confirmed that cable and tv ports are fine, then if it's not working after a reboot / reset, reinstall of FW, I'd hope the warranty has not expired:o

No EPG for Al Jazeera on Hotbird. I think this is down to the broadcaster rather than being box specific. For instance there is EPG info for Cyfra+ and many of the FTA german channels (on 19E)

Lads I did a complete channel reinstall on this box but noticed Channel 4 HD was missing. What satellites do I select in the satellite list to receive all the available channels?

Sorry if this has already been answered but here goes.

Have a sky dish - currently connected to a tv in sitting room with sky plus box. When the guy installed this a few months ago from sky, I got him to keep the original sky cable (old sky box) connected to the new dish and I ran the wire to the kitchen.

I then bought the ferguson ariva 120 box and I have to say is very complicated to work. I cannot get my head around what combination of satellite and freq I need to tune in channels.....any help please?

    Signal wont budge above 10%

So the feed to the kitchen is from the same LNB as the one to the sky+ box?

If you it seems like a cable issue if you are getting low signal.

Not sure, I assume so - its coming off the one sky dish - whatever why the sky engineer left it - I had told him I wanted the extra cable for a freesat box in the kitchen

Try the Sky box in the kitchen and see if it works. If it does, it is not the cable. If it does not, then try the Ariva in the other room.

Either way, you will isolate the problem and then know who to call.

Right, first up, im a bit confused. You say you had old sky box. Now you have a new one. Did you get a new dish installed from sky? New quad LNB ?

Secondly, has the ariva ever worked ( have you ever used it before - scanned for channels) ?

Just trying to clarify as your details are a bit sketchy , then we can move on with helping you ;)

Are you sure the cable going to the kitchen is actually connected to the LNB on the dish?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,172 ✭✭✭zg3409

Sam's advice is good. Bring the Sky box to the Kitchen to confirm if it is the cable or the box.

Yes 120s are not as easy to use as Sky boxes. To get Saorview channels on them you need an aerial. To get satellite channels you need a dish. Do you have an aerial to go with your dish?

Also the best way of setting up the channels is to download a channel list. Have you downloaded a channel list?

Is it possible to alter the settings to record ts/ps files for longer than 2 hours?

Yes. Go to Menu/PVR/DVR Configuration. Scroll down to Duration. You can change the length of time there. Note you cannot change the size of the TS file greater than 4gb. That might limit your recording time.
