I updated the spreadsheet with the latest payment info, the DayZ admin just replied to me stating the IP has been allowed on their side and the have sent me info on getting it going so should be up and running by this evening all going well.

Great news and thanks for the effort put in by yourself and dreamers75 in organising it.

Yep a colleague gave me a €10 as well so I can up the server to the next level now, or put it towards next month, whats the view?

See if we break this one, lads the harsh reality is that to test out the bandwidth we will have to over load it. Oh it will tell us quick enough if its borkled :D

I will have this one running 40 man Days later on after the Pats match.

We monitor it during our peak times and see if we need to upgrade/ lower the player limit.

Anyone any preference to player amount? I think paying players plus 10.

    Re: Server Capacity
Keep it as it is now (40-Man, right?) and see how it fills up, if it gets consistently full, then we can upgrade it.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,495 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

If it's open to the public (which it has to be iirc), then it will fill up regardless of the capacity. But stick it at 40 to test how it runs.

Search for boards in the server filter.

    its up

I still have intentions of paying, but I would like to know if the server could become more reliable.
It seems to be down an awful lot, and it can't be the central server because all the other servers never seem to go down, and when they do they are back up a few minutes later.
I just feel that although the ping is great when the boards sever does work, it doesn't seem to be working often enough to justify paying for it over just using one of the other servers.

Dreamers75 is going to have a look at it today but the server OS is fine, load etc is fine but the arma exe is crashing, we will work to see if we can make it more stable but to be honest its an alpha that has patches released on a regular basis.

Would updating to the beta drivers make it more stable or the opp?

Not sure tbh we have talked about using beta but not done it, I'm open to suggestions, its been running fine since last night with 35 users currently on it

I thought it ran perfectly last night after the restart. One of two short 'red broken chain' moments, but other then that it was great. Low ping and no crashes.

Hopefully the update of hive may have resolved the issue so.

What's the point in paying for a server that you may not get to play ?

It increases the chance of getting a game. Personally I chipped in, and I don't always get on, but I always find somewhere to play. When I do get on the boards server (maybe half the time) it's pretty nice, I must say.

Everyone wants everything for free these days.

It increases the chance of getting a game.

Care to explain how that's possible?

No they don't. Your argument make no sense.

Seriously? If there are more spaces, the chances of getting a game is higher. If the server is fairly local, there's less chance of being auto-kicked for your ping.

Ok, I understand the misgivings related to spending money and not being guaranteed a game on the server you're funding, but for now, it has to be this way. Otherwise, 40 co-conspirators could have a private loot-generating server, and go on to steam-roll people on public servers. Resources are so tight, the system is vulnerable to exploitation.

It might change eventually to something everyone considers fair. In the meantime, I've spent a tenner, and had over 20 hours top-notch entertainment for my money. I'm happy with my meagre investment.

Right lads & lasses. I finished my exams today, and true to my word am prepared to contribute. Whats the beef?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,738 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Server was updated to 1.7, seems to be working well but we'll work on optimizing it over the coming days. I'm also looking at possibly moving it to another hardware server but given the limitations of the resources that the game can utilize this may or may not be worth it, the server is currently in Dublin but the other server I'm looking at is in Germany.

Anyway regardless of which server we use donations for next month will be needed soon so please send another 10 euro to the same PayPal address and include your boards username. The more that pay the longer the server stays online.

If you haven't donated before pm me for details.

Alright there, came across the server earlier and had a bit of a womble about, enjoyed myself. Not seen it around much before, but was wondering if it was maybe encountering some teething issues? Got one of the "no response for xx seconds" errors about 40 minutes in and haven't been able to reconnect since; sticks on the black "Loading" screen but all others work fine. Wondered if anyone else had come across the same deal, given that every time I checked it in the list after the crash/reset it only got as high as 1/3 or so capacity.

Fancy bookmarking the server though, given the scarcity of providers that ping low for me and which also have the sense to offset the time so the game can be enjoyed in the evenings. And also because I plonked down a couple of full tents just moments before it died on me.

Anyone got any info as to what beta patch (if any) it's running so I can ensure compatibility? It's not mentioned in the server name, which is fair enough as I expect it's a bit of an arseache to rename the server with each BP released.

Hi TOM and welcome to Boards !

The server is running beta 93415 and the loading issues you are having happened to almost everyone last night who wasn't already connected by early evening. The popularity of the game has made unstable for many when lots of people all want to play at once.

You can check out the official game forums here to see if you're problem resembles that of others.

Cheers ta. I'm pretty familiar with the game and setup of it, just wanted to check if it was just me or not. I know it can screw with a server a lot if someone tries to connect constantly so I thought I'd make sure before banging my head against that particular wall just yet. I'll keep an eye out and give the occasional try!

Oh also (forgive the double post, I didn't want to edit my existing one so the thread would be bumped and this would get a little visibility) I've not been able to talk in global or side chats in any servers for a few days. I only mention this as I play as a fairly friendly and helpful chap and have a shedload of blood bags, weapons and ammo for anyone that might need them, and don't want to get shot on sight. I'm based in the same area as a regular named Arron or the like, and have stumbled across a few of his fireplaces, vehicles and the sort, but can't communicate in chat to say I'm friendly. So if you see someone whose name is in all uppercase and usually something daft - I rename depending on whim, never been the sort for a single username - hanging around watching you, don't freak out and drill me. I'm probably just trying to get close enough without you seeing me to use direct chat.
