Some plane/jet screenshots from V in Max Payne 3:

Link: (spoiler of sorts, so not gonna post the image directly)

(I should point out it's not confirmed officially to be from V, but I'd bet everything I own that they're V screens, particularly as they don't show much).

    Found on GTA Forums;

I wonder if the partial map above the plane photos is at all connected?

Playing LA Noire right now and I think that would be a perfect sized map for the city. Obviously have the desert, or woodland or whatever else around it but for the actual city, that would be plenty. Think back to GTA III and VC, you knew those maps inside out. For SA you knew most of it. GTA IV, I'm guessing you only knew bits and pieces of it. The maps can get too big and for me, that takes some of the fun away. Not sure what the size is compared to GTA IV, but for me the LA Noire size would be perfect.

With GTA IV you know areas, but I found Im picking up the locations in LA Noire much quicker. Don't get me wrong, the first time I drove the length of the map I thought I had turned back on myself it was taking so long. I played IV, TLAD and TBOGT but can still only know some areas of the map. If I ended up with five star wanted level, I had to get the map up to see where the hell I was and where I needed to head. The exception being the first island where I spent most of my time. I have spent less time on LA Noire but would be much more confidant of finding an escape route in that without needing the map.

When I started it, my first thought was the map was way too big. But now that I only have one more case to do, I'm after figuring it out for the most part.

I suppose it could be countered by having you spend time in more areas while doing the missions. I'm guessing most people know the first island the best in all the GTA games because you spent most of your time there.

The bigger the better. A great thrill of SA was speeding through the countryside in a rancher trying to keep control as it went over bumps at high speed. Of course the best thing about rural areas is theres less traffic. Variety is nice. In GTA4 it was very samey.

I'd honestly be very confident that after say, 5-10 minutes of driving around any GTA from III upward, that I'd know my way around. I played the arse out of every GTA from PS2 era onwards so the memories are still pretty good.

The only place I'd have a lack of knowledge would be the countryside North of Los Santos. Never really drove those areas other than for missions.

Every time this thread is bumped, I get a tad excited tbh. Only for it to be dashed away. C'mon R*, stop laughing at us and give us something. Anything lol.

will they just fookin give us a release date or another trailer with some actual gameplay?!. meanwhile this is the level of ****e that passes for news on gtav
http://whatculture.com/gaming/grand-theft-auto-v-leaked-early.php. seriously, read how weak that story actually is.

Bad crack on Rockstars part tbh.

Also people saying they see this thread updated, and then get their hopes up....tbh if a new trailer is released you'll know about it before logging onto boards

Remember the agreement, if there is any news the thread title will be reflected to suit. So just know that if its bumped then its either speculation or a rumor circling.

Gonna take a guess and say sometime in March 13 it will be out. Would be surprised to see it come out around the same time as Black Ops 2.

Hope they make sure this time that other drivers don't try and ram you when your stopped at lights like it IV.:pac:

I don't think Rockstar would really be bothered if their release clashed with another big title. I'd imagine if Black Ops 2 had a release date announced, and then GTA V was announced for the same day, it'd be the Black Ops crowd that'd be more concerned.

To be honest, at this stage, I don't really think it matters what you put up against GTA - It'll beat it's competition over and over again. Especially with a 5 year wait. People are still talking about a 90 second trailer seven months later!

I'd predict a major announcement or trailer release during E3 (not as part of E3, Just during it, to shift the focus to Rockstar).

I'd love to see them go head to head with CoD as it'd be quite interesting to see from afar how things would develop from it. But from a financial perspective, they'll obviously want to maximize profits and doing just that isn't the best way of going about it.. unless they release it just before Black Ops II (or for what I presume will be Modern Warfare 4 next year). IMO, first half of the year is what they'll look at releasing GTA V next year.

Just been playing GTA IV there.

My god, the weapon variety and weapon audios need serious overhauling and upgrading. The AK, MP5, M4 Carbine and shotguns discharge audio are shockingly unrealistic. They better at least triple the variety of weapons in GTA V. Serious neglection on R*'s part.

What's more unrealistic is being able to carry all those weapons around at the one time.

Would love to see them bring all the weapons form IV and TBOGT together, as well as add a lot more. Also more melee weapons would be good. The only one you could buy easily in IV was the bat. Knives were far too rare.

Would also be great if they don't get rid of Ammu-Nation like in IV. Anyone know the gun control laws in California? Stricter or looser than NY?

I'm all for realism in GTA, but the weapons system is one thing I really think they shouldn't touch. Going too far down the Max Payne route (a weapons system that works fabulously in MP) would suck a lot of fun out of GTA.

TBH I would prefer that type of weapon system or one like in uncharted
I read somewhere that in multi player the players can rob shop and the like which would be cool. I wonder if they will have anything more then a nod to a other games.

A MP type weapon system would rule out any rampage though. Part of the fun of GTA games is to just hold up somewhere with tonnes of ammo and weapons and see how long you can last. I you're limited to just what you can carry IRL then that element of the game is gone.

Exactly if I wanted realism I'd go on a real rampage... O wait did I say that out load? :D

I don't want them to change the weapons system. I'd prefer it if you could carry more (at the moment you're limited to one type of each weapon, so you can't have a knife and a baseball bat at the same time, for example). I'd like to carry as much as I like.

They can make the driving as realistic as they like (I think IV was absolutely perfect, though and doesn't need updating) but weapons should stay as they are. As should health, etc.

Wanted system/stars could do with a revamp. I always felt like it could be improved. I've no idea how though. So whilst I can't offer up any suggestions, i do think there's something that could be tweaked to improve it.

I'd like to see stealth more enabled though. If you've a police car chasing you for example, and you lose him, and you park your car in a dark alley and knock the lights off, for example, I think that the other police shouldn't just know where you are. Make it a bit more strategic (that's only if they make it more realistic though. In it's current arcadey-ish form i reckon it's grand).

I agree. I've always expected gta to, at some point, make more of an emphasis on the non ballistic weaponry at the beginning of the game. I think you get a handgun too quickly and everything just escalates pretty fast until you're running around with an mp5 that doesnt leave your hands for the remainder of the game.

Turning was a little off. I think it should be tweaked and improved but in such a way that we dont even notice its better until we go back and play 4 and find were all over the road like its coated in butter.

Why not just have God mode on all the time?
I have a friend that thinks like this and doesnt realise that half of the gameplay involves limiting your arsenal to make the game a challenge. Too many weapons at once and the game gets boring very fast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

I'd rather a limit on the amount of weapons you can carry, rather than the types. Say 7 weapons. What weapons you choose to have is your choice. You could have Brass Knuckles, Knife and Baseball Bat as three, or have all assault rifles etc. Would make it more of a challenge instead of just being able to carry a Grenade Launcher around with you but hardly ever use it.

Remember that piece of "leaked" info before GTA IV came out where someone had seen a screenshot of the mission 3 Leaf Clover and saw Niko with a sports bag... became 'official' that to carry more than 1/2 weapons, you had to carry a bag with you :pac:

Yes, I like the sound of being able to hole up somewhere until the heat dies down - bit like hiding in the bins in Bully. I did like the wanted system change they've made with the new games but they were too easy to evade. All you needed to do was put the pedal down and drive in a straight line across town and you could quickly evade even a 4-star level. I'd like to see Rockstar make the police more persistent and devious...
