true wouldnt buy them! whats your team like? im only starting out on it im trying to build a pl team but could you build a european team or would the morale not work as well as all from the same league?

3421 is a great formation and the player formation cards go for 150 coins. Parawind is only angry because I can beat him with worse players with 3421....

You can link players up by nationality or league, its chemistry you want to be looking at not morale.

Thank you for making my point for me, even the worst fifa player can win using that system. (walked right into that one!)

You'll find that this system is used a lot by people who play ultra defensive. They draw their opponents in and hit them on the break with a single pass due the positioning of the 3 attackers.

It's just a shame because it ruins games and in UT tournments people use it all the time because you can't back out if you get drawn against a person using the formation. Everytime i see that system I know the type of game I will get. You would imagine there would be some sort of penalty to playing with only 3 at the back but of course the reason there isn't is because in reality there are 7 defenders instead of the normal 4.

Ah, that's not completely true now, it's obviously a gripe you have though same as people used to despise 41212. Personally I can't play defensively very well, so I use it with the setup knocked up to attacking and try to keep the game in the opponents half. Typically I'll have more possession and shots in a game, I'll also probably lose because there's no width and relatively little pace in the defence when I get hit on the break. Swings and roundabouts, and all that.

Personally I find people with 3 at the back only using it because the cheap formation cards and I usually have no bother breaking them down unless the odd occasion when you actually come up against a decent player. Especially if you've two strikers upfront. Plenty of width and crosses bound to get goals.

The formation trading method isn't getting much luck these days on ps3 people are bidding 3900-4000 every time. Pr1cks!

but i dont play ultra defensive so it really is 3 at the back! 3421 is awesome too for both defending crosses because there is always a CB there to challenge it and also for scoring corners because of the extra CB attacking the corner.

Trying to shift Anfield for a profit.

Also, should I just give up trying to sell "Handling +5", "Heading +5", etc. that I've gotten in packs.

I usually trade stadiums early on when the game comes out, at this stage everyone has got the one they want so theres more than likely not much if any profit to be made at this point.

As regards the ability cards as was said above use them in cup matches to give your player a boost, they arent worth trying to sell to be honest.

Yeah, I think I'll give up on the trading for the most part. At least for now. Would much rather just buy who I want than trying to keep my trade profit positive and not be able to buy anyone.

I can't find any of the players I have for auction when I search for them. Even when I put in all the specifics, they don't show up at all.

Does that mean nobody else will be able to find them either?

why would you want to search for them when you can look at your trade pile . . . .

and yes, other people can see the card but you can only see it via your trade pile

If I get any of the basic(bronze, silver....i sell any gold) ones, I just use them myself.
But more importantly I buy Silver +6(all round) for 150-200 to use in finals.
I might stick one or two on my ''weaker'' players.

Can't understand why more don't do it, it effectively makes a great player an IF for a game and you can't argue with the price.

At the end of the day, there are only 11 players on the pitch.

If somebody puts an extra body in midfield or in defence you need to alter your attacking style.

I usually end up with 60/40 possession so I could probably get away with using 5 in defence and playing Normal(letting the wing backs attack).
With 4 in Defence to stop counter attacks I play Defensive from the off now leaving my 4 defenders back to cover breaks.

If someone is using 5 in defence it means extra space for my midfielders to shoot, I'll try get the ball to the edge and straighten myself up for a shot.
If there's 3 in defence then I'll attack the wings and cross more.

I think a player will only struggle if they have one method off attack(i.e passing it into the net), as opposed to taking the high % option every time.

The only problem I ever had was with my own players i.e my wing backs pushing forward then a counter attack catches them behind the ball leaving me in bother.
I've now corrected that, as stated, by switching to Defensive.... this hasn't effected my attacking rate and I still regularly trounce others while giving me some extra cushion to stopping a fast break.

+1 to the formation selling.

The bottom has fallen out of it over the past week.

Even after increasing my bids(1000>1500 for 4-3-1-2, 2000>2500 for 4-3-2-1) I'm regularly getting zero successful bids(and I'm talking 3-6am auctions here) my only real success has been on items about to expire.

I did manage to get around 7 or 8 last night though so hopefully things return to what they were.

There is a bit of price fixing going on with the formation cards this last week. 4-3-1-2 seems to go for 2k+ now.

I normally apply any spare cards i get from packs in finals too, but after what happened me last night i have serious doubts about their effectiveness. I stuck a +10 to all attributes card on my thiago silva, meaning he would have 93 pace. But sure enough a bog standard lukaku made up 5 yards on him to get to a hopeless ball over the top. Can't figure that out at all, think i'll just sell them from now on.

I played 8 games in that new tournment last night and it is a real sweat fest. I have still yet to play against anyone playing with more then a single striker and every person i have been matched with played ultra defensive.

I got to the the final first time out and my keeper took a 20 yard touch and ran straight into the opponents forward. I ended up 4-0 down before i knew what happened, but rather then completely implode i changed tact and managed to get it back to 4-3 just before half time. I was pretty happy with myself and thought I can get 1 more in 45mins. What I then faced was 45mins of the worst time wasting i have ever seen. The ball did not leave his third of the pitch once in the second half. I chased and blocked off options, went high pressure and team pressing. Even went ultra attack, to try tempt him to grab a goal but he just persisted in turning back and passing it off to the free man.

I realise people will time waste but for half the game takes it to a whole new level.

Ya the prices have increased I'm now selling 4-3-1-2 for 2400(up from 2000-2200 when they went for 2000 more often than not) and 4-2-3-1 for 2200 and they're selling for that price which is the BIN.
The 4-3-2-1 are more varied, I changed to 3400-3800 and they can go for any price between that range whereas the others are being bought max.

I'm not overly fussy in that I need to be able to buy 20 odd every day or two, just as long as I get enough to make a bit of a selling stack.
That way I can buy a new player and use the formation cards in Trade to build up my coins again.

Hopefully last night was a return to old ways, I got a decent few which meant I bought Xavi today(defo cheapest 90+ player at 59k) and I'll use the 50k odd balance to start trading again.

I'd agree with selling the +10s alright.
I only use the silver ones and these can be got easy for 150-200 whereas the Golds can't be got for any less than 400-500(I used to buy a few for that and sell for 700-800)

There's not enough of a diff between 6-10 to merit paying more than double.

I think 300-450 to boost 2/3 players is worth it for a final though.
And I DEFINITELY notice the difference it makes. Though I'll admit you won't notice too much with a fast player with decent all round. More noticeable on someone like Toure etc

Just won the ESPNFC Tournament online at the first time of asking. A nice 7,500 coins, and the prize didn't go down, so I'll definitely try it a few more times.

These tournaments are odd. The first three games I won 2-3, in reasonably tight games, bit lucky not to go to extra time in the semi (can't play in the rain!), thanks to Joe Hart.

Then in the final, I absolutely hammered your man. Odd how things pan out.

I dont play in the 5 star competitions anymore as I dont have the funds to compete with teams with the likes of Messi, Xavi and teams full of >90 speed. An average gold team with decent chemistry cant compete with these teams...

I enjoyed the bronze tourney the most - it was easy and cheap to get a decent team together and the games were very competitive when in the semis / final.

I'd agree with you though bronze and silver can be a lot more fun and games vary a lot, but 7500 is a hell of a lot for EA to offer!
