Okay, every place I emailed yesterday enquiring about the keyboard all said that the keyboard was only available in Black key switches, or I could get it in Brown, but it would be in German Layout. US Layout I don't mind as its very similar to UK, the german one isn't even QWERTY, its QWERTZ.

You can just pull the keys off and rearrange them, assuming the symbols and stuff are the same.

    Edit: Have you seen this?

Thats the German keyboard layout, its too different to the UK/US one with too many weird symbols.

Yeah I saw that site, but I forgot you could just get the key caps by themselves. Would those keys block the backlighting though?

oh and i was in touch with scan today about the cm storm quickfire and they only stock it with black switches so I cant exchange it for a blue/brown.

Yeah, that's a pretty weird one alright...

Judging from this review of the MK-80, the keys are just white plastic underneath, which the backlight signs through. Not sure what the keys on WASDKeyboards use.

They didn't seem very friendly, they literally just said.

    "No we don't have it".

    No hello, or goodbye.

Wow, that wasdkeyboards site has great support.
I emailed them as soon as Serephucus suggested it and they replied already.
Unfortunately they told me the keys don't support backlighting, and that I will lose that feature if I use their keycaps :(

Seems ordering it from the US is the only way to go..

The only advantage then of WASD is that they offer UK layout, which is quite rare for mechanicals.

If you're willing to pay for it, there's always the MK-80 (or 85, if you like red). It's backlit, UK, and your choice of switch. I didn't suggest it earlier because it's €150 delivered.

Yeah, I'm just dead set on getting a mechanical keyboard now so lets say the budget is gone out the window. :P

Looks like thats my only option so.
I still much prefer the Storm Trigger though.
I'll probably buy this in the next week or two, but I'll be so mad if the Storm Trigger comes out soon after that.

After watching some youtube reviews of the storm trigger, it isn't actually out in the US, not even with Black switches. But a lot of reviewers in the US are reviewing it at the moment, with brown switches, so I imagine its coming out there soon.

Where is the best place to buy the MK-85 so? I looked on Scan and they seem to only have it with Blue keys.

I ordered mine from QPad directly. Seems to be the only place to get custom switches.

I'll just mention my original point again here: If you're set on the CM Trigger, wait a while first. It seems to be extremely new at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭FlyingIrishMan

    Yeah, your probably right.
I'm not in any rush to get it, I got some money this week so I started looking at them and got excited and impatient :P
I'll wait a month or so and see if any updates come out on the storm trigger.

Thanks for all the help Serephucus. :)

Hi guys, just wondering when you receive a email from komplett with the following message:

" We want to inform you that your order with number xxxx has been dispatched from our warehouse"

Does it mean that is has been dispatched from the office in Dublin or there distribution centre in Holland?

    Thanks! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

    Holland, AFAIK.

One more question, roughly how long does it take for the package to arrive after it has been dispatched from Holland? I'm hoping to have this by the weekend :)

If it was dispatched Tuesday, you might get it Friday, but I wouldn't count on it.

Odd question here lads, but what kind of insurance do ye have for your tech gear? at the moment ive got more PC's in the house than the value of the car outside, so its time to seriously look into insurance.

im in rented accomodation (and will be for the foreseable future) but i assume the landlords house insurance wont cover a thing in event of theft or fire etc.

I nearly choked laughing @ "Did you mean 75 euro?"

I was gonna link to that leinsterpc thing where the guy tries to rip people off by putting 6770 in €850 rigs.

Yeah, I saw him all over done deal.
I like Adverts better because you can actually comment and warn people that they're about to get ripped off :P

Off-Topic not on page one  That's not on lads.
Anyway, I'm was very relieved when I found out that GTA IV saves your game progress to the cloud. I was trying to install a few mods to make the game look better earlier and messed up and had to re-install the game. I thought I'd had to start it all over again but it loaded up to the correct mission after launching it. Was very happy.
More games should automatically have this feature. Its not as if game saves are massive files.

I'm pretty sure GTA IV does not have cloud sync for saves. Maybe the uninstaller did not delete user files?
