Tesco too. The 20-years-ago version was brewed in Ireland by Guinness under licence AFAIK.

I was in North Korea recently and they have great beer. Quite strong (4.5%+) with a good, natural taste. They only sell big bottles of the stuff. Picture of one below:

I live in Beijing and there's a fairly wild off licence I like to drink in. They have little tables and chairs you can sit on. Great selection of booze including all sorts of hash stuff as well if you're into that. Some pics below:

In general, the prices of the imported beer are cheaper than Dublin!

Is that not a pub no?

    Not really!

Supermarket prices and no attempt at comfort/live music/food.

Due to a sound manager got a 6 pack of goose island ipa for €10 earlier in supervalue, dont think they'll be getting it back, still not bad value. That'll do me (until) this weekend ;)

Nothing on tap etc. (though that would make it even better), just such a huge array of beer, that most pubs wouldn't have the space for. All on show, so you can buy what you want very easily. Looks like a great place to discuss craft beers etc. Closest thing is Hollands in Bray, you can get anything from the off-licence and they will bring it in for you, €1 extra I think for each you buy though, also quite hard to choose when you can't see them, have to go around to the off-licence and grab them and they will put them inside for you.

Why? That is a great deal.

Tonight I bought the Flying Dog Alpha Collection (Limited Edition). Will tell you how it goes, but I already know the "Raging Bitch" is a really good IPA.

Tried the Peroni Nastro Azzuro for the first time ever tonight, thinking it might be a decent crisp beer.

    What utter slop.

Found some Fullers London Porter in Lohans salthill this evening, will be having that soon, haven't had it in ages, wasn't able to get it anywhere in Galway!

The Peroni Doppio Malto Gran Riserva is a very good beer, don't know if it's available in Ireland though.

There's also a red Peroni Rossa, which is ok.

White Gypsy Ruby (Irish Red Ale), brewed in Templemore. Very nice ale, but sits a little heavy on the stomach.

When you invariably stumble to The Delirium Cafe don't forget to have a look upstairs in the Hop Loft, a different but fantastic selection!!!

Where did you get Pliny the Younger? Seriously? I have been trying to find Pliny the Elder but I would take the Younger if I could find it at all.

On another note, here is what I got for tonight.

Thought Flying Dog's Kujo was pretty good White_Wolf.

    Have the following myself

    De Molen Rasputin
Mikkeller Cream Ale - was nice
    Mikkeller Texas Ranger
    Brewdog Dogma
    Norrebro little korkney ale

and finally Flying Dogs Raging Dog barelywine, probably one of my favourite beers.

I'd imagine that Pliny was got with some beer trade.

Yeah, I posted about the Malto a couple of pages back, that's what made me try their original.

I got the Dioppa Malto in Jus De Vin in Portmarnock, Dublin. Its actually one of the nicest beers I've tried this year.

Yeah had the same thought on Kujo myself, really blew me away. Coffee Imperial Stout it is, very good beer.

That Dogma you have there, that's an odd one, great beer though, I remember I really enjoyed it when I had it.

On another note, I love all the beers from De Molen, great brewery.

As for the Pliny, yeah I would think so myself, since they won't ship anywhere :( Been trying to get a bottle through beer trade, but it's so impractical getting one to Ireland, nearly as cheap to fly over and get some yourself lol.

The brother brought home 3 bottles from the US last weekend. Shame he only comes home once every 3 years
