    Great job Colm!

Is it my imagination or does the grille look a bit askew in the 3rd pic???

It's the reflections on the bonnet making the bonnet look at a different angle than it actually is.

Yesterday evening i was browsing donedeal and seen a flip out dvd headunit i fancied for my veccy. got in touch with the seller, arranged a mutual time and place to meet today. (he was from north dublin and i south wicklow, arranged to meet at kilmac service station, 30 miles from me).

he text me this morning to confirm i was coming because he "had a lot of timewasters", i replyed to say all was ok. i text him again when i was half an hour away and he confirmed he would meet me there. i called him when i arrived at kilmac service station, no answer, text him, no answer, waited half an hour, not approached by anybody.

still havn't heard from him. why the **** do people do that ****, i'm so ****ing cross about it. partially my own fault but i left home early and bought a DIN adapter and all for it in halfords, so im a good bit out of pocket after the day

    don't waste your time anybody.

It's a sh1te one anyway. I had one in my car and there is a lot of lag in it when you go to do anything. It's bad with the buttons but then the touchscreen is even worse. Even with it calibrated you had to press it quite hard a few times to get it to recognise where you were pressing. It's in the garage gathering dust nowadays.

A double din sized unit would go much better. Halfords have a double din Sony DVD for €239 in limerick, ex display
Kinda have my eye on it.

i do agree its a bit of a donkey and quality is questionable. the girlfriend has had one for a while though and it seems ok reliability wise.

what you should do is PM me your address and i'l send you some cash for it :P :pac:

Take your time, plenty bargains out there if you wait.
You won't get much of a TDI avant for €1200 though.

@ mar4ix, big cheap deisel, if the mileage was right i like the look of this, looks a good spec. brand new NCT, fully serviced with mew pads and bushings. i'd say its heading for 200k though.

If you are ever in cork sometimes or know of anyone coming down you can take it. Only thing is the power cable split from the connector so I just shoved it in but you would have to take out the metal and solder it back together to do a proper job on it.

    I don't want to organise postage :o

Avensis td is a very dependable car. You'd easily get one in budget.

Most Saturdays a few of us hook up to do some work on whatever car needs something doing too. Today we did a few jobs on my buddys 'Vette. He just bought it recently and always does something zany with his cars in order to put his own stamp on it. He's big in to the racing look and I have to say this time he got it pretty much spot on!

    Before:

Only thing I would change is the stickers on the headlight covers but apart from that it looks fantastic. Pictures don't do it justice at all in fact.

EDIT: The standard plates have to go too!

Ripped most of the e46 dashboard out to start fitting in the Double DIN Nav setup, the airbox behind the radio has to be cut into and resized, vent actuators have to be relocated. Turned out what was supposed to be a simple job into a nightmare. Made up templates of the cutaways I have to slice off and templates for the plastic I'll have to weld in. Got a rough shaping for the actuator relocation too, so will get at all that during the week.

Anyone thinking of putting a Double DIN in an e46 ... just don't!!

Hey Owen, you should have looked in to the Dynavin units:

    http://www.dynavin.com/products/product_dnv_e46.php

They're f*cking terrible, cheap chinese DSP's inside, the sound quality is dreadful IMHO, and seeing as they're made in god only knows where, the build quality must be cack too. Even some of the sites selling them are warning of the half baked android versions and not to buy unless you really really want it.

I'm in the middle of dremelling out my airbox right now, kind of a 'well, there's no going back now moment' :D
