Bottom line side by sides , o/u and semi's will get that second shot out faster . The only hunting I enjoyed with my pump was fox shoots . Nothing feels more man ly than pumping and firing but for duck or game where you get one or two ducks in a flight , they just don't make the cut .

If you can't get off two shots at a couple of duck then you shouldn't be using a pump action anyway!

There really is no arguing with the effectiveness and reliability of pump actions; especially the mossberg 500. If I didn't have a SxS, I'd have a pump. Having owned a semi auto before and shot a few others, I would never own another. They are too ammo fussy and complicated.

The reason why I don't own a semi, but prefer the SxS, is because we have to limit them to three shots in this country. To get the most out of a pump action (or a semi), I think you need to take advantage of the larger magazine.

If, god forbid, I could have one gun and one gun only, I'd want a Mossberg 500.

IT wastes time, harder to hit clay's with pumping the dam things. 2200euro is nothing for a top brand shot gun. You can pay £60,000 if you want for a shotgun. The good old 500 might be worthless on a trade in. You say you would spend the remaining two grand on a nice deer stalking rifle?? That's the price of a half decent second hand car as you said above

It's not your 1st time lol

@Spunk 84 what makes the pump the safest gun????? You never told me. Is it cause you can break it or is it cause its made of some sort of see through material that you can see what in the barrel or chamber?

    In case you missed it.

they are as safe as a broken Dbbl if you understand the action and how it works. Most people dont, and thats why there is this irrational fear of these types of guns safty. If the slide is all the way back its jamming the firing mechanism, and with no shell on the lifter, absolutely nothing is going to happen until a shell is put in battery and the slide closed. So with no shell on the lifter you have to conciously double rack the gun to load from the mag.
Ditto with a semi, without a shell anywhere near the chamber and out of battery nothing is going to happen.

and "IF" it did go go forwards it locks in position and the button behind the trigger or the trigger have to be pressed to allow it to be pumped to load a shell into the chamber. Thats alot of things to happen by accident

Its very important to think before you speak. Use the head for thinking and feet for dancing.

That is fast and very fast for a pump action. Still wont beat the extrema 2. It can shoot 12 clays shot in mid air and has faster cycling with no recoil

These Berettas do it out of the box unlike the pump action. You get what you pay for at that price and you get great resale on it and you be lucky to find one of these secondhand ,not like your mosberg 500 that a gun dealer wont take AFAIK. Maybe you might say its expensive but here in Leitrim us guys don't have that sort of recession. There's money in cows :D:D:D

I had a pump action when i was serving my apprenticeship years ago , it was all i could afford apart from a baikal single barrel , it was ok but i was glad to be free of it when i bought a double barrel. I can't see the attraction apart from cheapness. I would use a semi though but i'd never have a pump action again.

Yep and believe it or not you can kill your prey or clay pigeon with a 25.00 euro one of them because rumour has it that it all has to do whether you happen to be close enough and pointing in the right direction.........and nothing to do with how much you spent on your latest toy.

I've nothing against pumps , but to me personally a double barrel is a much nicer gun to use. I was going to buy a browning (i think it was ) pump action rifle in .22 years ago , it was a tiny little thing with only provision for iron sights , very old , lovely little thing.
