Interesting Anne. I have those tab alright. Will be trying one on Saturday night .
In general how do you find those for running. Still not 100% sold on them.
    Great running by the way
dave i find them great. i used them during DCM as i knew water just wasn't going to be enough. I get sick of drinking just water so these add a bit of flavour to it and they do work.

Dave, i meant to take it before you go out running the next morning, not before you go out drinking:eek:

I usually take them before or after a run, or even in the evening if i find a dehydration headache starting and this is in addition to lots of water!!!

Good session Anne in the park. Interesting races coming up for you including a trail one! The race pimps were on to me to do Dunshaughlin too, they promised strawberries at the end - nothing like a good race finish enticement :D

    Pimps....how dare you. ;)
Just looking out for you, that's all.
    That's gratitude for ya.

That's a nice busy racing calendar, Anne, nothing like a few race goals to keep training interesting!

    Thursday - 29th Rest day...

didn't get out at lunch as meeting ran late and didn't make Kettlebells as the car was on Autopilot and found myself at home instead of in Navan...was tired so took the rest

Friday 30th - 3mile Threadmeill run....this run nearly didn't happen..knackered again..went to bed for a nap:eek: at 6.30...up at 7, due at a party at 8 but decided i "needed" a run..so had to hit the threadmill as the kids were int he house and OH was goen to collect 1st born fromher dress rehersal for sunday might concert!!

    did this as
    1.5 mil at 6.2 mph@ 1% incline = 9.34 pace
    1.5 mil at 6.5 mph@ 1% incline =9.09 pace according to this

Delighted i did it but was only sorry i didn't have any more time and OMG the heat being inside:eek:

Sunday 1st April - 9 m in 1:32:04 @10.14/151 plan was 90 mins SR but at 90 min i saw 8.8 i ran back up the road to make it the 9m even:D
i really didn't want to go out for this run as again i was feeling tired so decide i would just go out and see what happened...max time i had was about 90mins as 1st born had to go for another dress rehersal for show!!

the first 3 miles were very tough and for some reason the fecking ditches were "alive" and i spent more time jumping into the middle of the road when i hear d the rustle in the hedges...i hate rats and the thoguth of them and ao far with running in the country iahve been very lucky to never see one!! On Sunday by mile 3 i had at keast 5 instants where the ditch ran away from me:eek::eek::eek: i know , i know!!!! I was also very aware that a few people i knew and plenty of Boardsies i didn't know were running or had finished Conn and that i jsut needed to get on with it......i relaxed after about mile 4 and instead of an out and back i did a circuit and managed to do the 9m....
split and HR were all over the place and it doesn't help went i stop or slow down to text people!!!;)

After mile 2 i remembered that it was meant to be a SLOW run so tried to pull back a bit and changed the watch to HB to see if i could keep it near to 150 and the averages look ok for that so will try that in future and not worry about pace!!

    Wednesday 4th April - 5.55m in 55.06 @9.56/157

Went out for this run and the HR was a bit high but when it hit 210:eek: in the first 5 min i stopped, adjusted the strap and watched as i died on the spot;)..it went from 210 to 125 in 10 seconds.....it was pretty stable after that but i probably need to change the battery in the strap...i have it 20mths now!!
I tried to keep the run nice and relaxed and didn't pay any attention to the Garmin

    10.15/170, 10.01/155, 9.52/154, 9.52/155, 9.52/155, (.55) 9.31/157

    Saturday 7th April - 10.03 in 1:39.49 @9.57/157 Garmin
Decided the only way i was going to get out for another run this week was by running home from the football pitch after the kids football Blitz. It was our first experience of a blitz and at just short of 3 hrs i heard that was a short one:eek:...being a local one probably helped.... 6yr old sons claim to fame...3 football matches and didn't get a touch of the ball....but God loves a tries and no doubt he will be their starplayer in yrs to come:D

Anyway took off at 12.50 and discovered it was 4 #7 half hrs since breakfast and iw as hungry so the whole run was spent decide the route i was goin and if it would be a short of medium run.....eventually did the 10m again didn't look at the garmin but was aware after a couple of miles that i should slow it down a bit if i was going to make it a longer run!!!! There was a few nice inclines and short hills in this run so actually enjoyed it!!! Except for the bit where a Wan*er  in a 12 D car blew me out of it and decided it was a great laugh to drive across the main road straight at me!!! if i had a rock handy it would have been through his drivers window!!!....

    Splits:

    Monday 9th April - 5.10m Tempo in 00:44:48 @ 08:47/170
Wasn't due to run today but just wanted to go out. Seeing as i had only 2 runs/15.5m last week i decided to go and do a 5m. The weather was very obliging and the rain stopped when i got my gear on and when i returned, the heavens opened with a huge hail shower:eek:. I hadn't planned on this being a fast run but with fresh legs thats just the way it went .. I went by feel and didn't pay any attention to the garmin.:)

    Splits 9.14/164, 8.39/163, 8.37/169, 8.24/179, 9.00/176, (.10)9.17/188

    Tuesday 10th April - 5.51m in 00:55:45 @10.07/154

This was harder than it should have been but i suppose yesterday run was still in the legs. The funny thing is the legs weren't heavy or felt tired...they just would move. Felt like i was going a lot slower than i actully was. I ignored the Garmin and again just went by feel....
It was very cold setting out but once i reached Castleknow gates and turned down Chesterfield Ave there was lovely heat in the sun and it was a lovely day...unitl the rain came and cooled me down!!! pace was a bit all pover the place but sure no harm in that:o

My plan for today is 1 mile easy, 4x400 @ 10k pace with 1 min recovery between reps , 1 mile easy... Then 1 hr Core and Conditioning class with the Meath Running Group. I'll do the run on the trace this evening before the class....should be fun to do it on a proper running track!!!:D

Just be wary if you aren't used to running on the track. The surface can be rather unforgiving, harder than tarmac - almost akin to concrete.

Thanks i'l bear that in mind, would that be the case with the track in Claremont? I'lldo warm up on road....

I'm speaking from direct experience of Claremont track . Ran a 3,000m race there a few years back. Knees were in bits afterwards even though I had been running on roads regularly.

Would it be the opposite as in the track is a bit softer hence sore knees after being use to road...i run on road at the weekends and on the trails during the week so hopefully it won't have such an impact on me. Ran on it for a couple of laps a few weeks back and i had no issues...but i'll let you know tomorrow!!!

Thankfully i have no issues with my knees so would like to keep it that way!

The surface on Claremont has been there a while. Compared to Morton for example Claremont is harder/less springy.

Just my experience/opinion:D Your mileage may vary!!!;)

thats exactly what one of my "runner" friends just said in work...and he said that footballers trailing grass over the track hasn't helped it either...
    i'll be extra careful so...Thanks MCS:D

MCS - I woke up this morning and before i moved i had sore knees, then i moved them and i was fine:D you had me paranoid!!!!;)

I survived my first "track" session...the lashing hailstones took my mind of the track surface, i left myself tight for time and didn't manage to finish the cool doewn miloe, but had to change out of the wet things before i started my 1hr Core & conditioning class...This is a tough class but i enjoy it.

The plan for the run was 1 mile easy, 4x400 @ 10k pace with 1 min recovery between reps , 1 mile easy,

started off nice and easy and then did the 4 x 400, only managed 2 laps for cool down, but it was a nice session. I was soaked through from a very heavy hail shower but thats what we have come to expect.

    Splits
    W/U - 1m @9.06/159,
    .26m - 1:49 @ 7.06/178
    .26m - 1:48 @ 6.57/176
    .27m - 1:50 @ 6.52/182
    .27m - 1:51 @ 6.47/175

    C/D .51m @8.53/164

Looking at the splits now i realise:o i as going far too fast..i didn't realise i waa going so fast....definitely need to SLOW DOWN.

Overall it was 2.89m @8.56/166 - if i'd checked the watach and seen the distance i would have rounded it up to 3m....

Someone pointed out its either Dedication or Lunacy that had me running in the hail shower that fell. I know which one i'd pick;)

    Friday 13th April - 3.21m in 30.46 @9.35/160 Garmin

I had a half hr this morning before OH had to "go see a man about a dog" so i took my dog and headed for my 3 mile route...i haven't done this for a while and i was fairly panting going up the hills. And i hate when i have to stop/start with "Lady", so i took her off the lead on the back road and left her to it.

While i was running up the hill i use for repeats i definitely felt like there was no way i could do it faster ot x8 times...so I will have to try it out next week:o...

Beautiful sunny & warm morning for a run!!!

    Tue 17th April - 6.01m in 58:49 @9.47/157 Garmin

I didn't managed to get a run done since Friday, but thats family life for you and i just have to get on with things:)
Went out today and thought i'd fly round the park with lovely fresh legs but not so. My legs were a bit tired and sluggish but i just plodded along without looking at the Garmin as i wanted to just go with how i was feeling.

Took in a different route today to see what way it worked out mileage ways and it was 5.85 so a spin up and down the carpark to even it up at 6m:D

As usual after the first few miles i enjoyed the run. It was freezing cold in parts and lovely and warm coming up the S-bends, very strong head wind going down acres road, but a typical day weatherwise in the Park...
as i just finished my shower and was heading for lunch the heavens opened and there was a huge hail shower so thankfully i was done & dusted by then!!

    Pace was nice and relaxed

    Wednesday 18th April - 4.04m in 0:36:06 @ 8.57/162 Garmin

Plan today was for 1 m warm up, 2 m@ HM pace, 1 m Cool down.

Went out late morning after doing the playschool drop off with an unhappy child:( who wanted to stay home!! Anyway decided to try and stick to the plan  because i am very bad at sticking to the plan!!..especially regarding the planned pace....and i know there is some scientifc reason (someone might be able to fill me in here) for training at certain paces.

    anyway splits were
    m1 warmup - 9.35/144
    m1 @ HMP - 8.39/167
    m2 @ HMP - 8.23/171
    m1 cooldown - 9.10/170

my pace was all over the place, too fast then too slow, but the averages are ok....i was definitely more comfortable after 2 mile, so maybe in future i need to do 2m warmup. and i really had to force myself to turn back at 2m or i would have kept going!!!(don't know if this is a good or a bad thing.

1 hr Core & Conditioning Class with Meath Running Group this evening. This is always difficult but definitely good and getting a bit easier as we get a bit stronger!!!

Again this took more effort that it should have done. I didn't look at the Garmin and just ran the course. I felt like i was plodding but the pace was spot on for an easy run...it just didn't feel easy, i guess my legs are a bit tired. Core & Conditiong class last night was still in them and i could feel the whole body was a bit tired but its done & dusted and i'll enjoy the rest day tomorrow:D

    1m @10.47/162 few hills in this too:eek:
    1m @ 10.26/158,
    1m @ 9.42/168

i really enjoyed this session and it was a fab day, hence i added an extra 2m at the end

I tried to keep the times/pace down so i wasn't going too fast. I found the 7th hill the toughest and this is reflected in the time. Because its about a month since i did the hills, i wussed out and did the smaller of my hills:o but will do the bigger one next time!

I nearly didn't go out for this run as i was stareving but then i knew that if i didn't go before lunch i wouldn't get out at all as OH is occupied this evening so i'd have no sitter....so off i went and then when i was out i didn't want to come back, but i have no more time to spare so Hi Ho Hi Ho its back to work i go :D

its it was a fantatic day out there, huge claps of Thunder as i write:eek:, but there was heat in the sun when i was out...

The legs were fine today, which is reflected in my pace and i have to say they haven't felt this good in ages so, although i've missed my last 2 90m weekend sessions, i think the break did the legs good....

    9.35/154, 8.47/164, 9.34/162, 9.10/166, 9.02/161, 9.13/168, 9.30/172

    Wednesday 25th April - 4.4m in 40.02@ 9.06/160

A very wet, windy & cold day in the Park today!!!

the plan here was 1 mile easy, 10 min @ MP, 10 min @HMP (no recovery between), 1 mile easy, but I got it a bit arseways :o and did the HMP before the MP

I really had to try and keep my pace in check...going on my Spring HM time of 1.54.22 the MP= 9.13 and the HMP=8.44
    The session went like this:

    1m warm- up = 9.11/152
    10min @ HMP= 1.18m in 10.03 @ 8.31/163
    10min @ MP= 1.12m in 10.10 @ 9.05/162
    1.11m cool down = 10.38 @ 9.35/164

I was happy enough the way it went but i obviously wasn't paying attention to the pace in the warm-up and cooldown but it was so cold, with hail stone that were pelting me in the face that i just wanted to get it over and done with:eek:
