Thanks for the well wishes guys. Some people will already know me and my Dad aren't the closest, but it's surreal having something like this happen to someone so closely related. :/

There were 8 stabbings in Drogheda this weekend according to staff in the hospital; I simply don't get how anyone could go out with a knife with the intentions of trying to kill someone like that...

Really sorry to hear about your Dad, TSC. :(
This town really has some scum in it.

I just watched the new episode of walking dead from the US, so if your behind and watching on the UK channels, then here be spoilers:
Well I was not expecting shane to get killed off like that, and didnt want him to get killed off as he was a good character. Was hoping he would be there for a few more seasons. Next weeks episode looks great, with the image of all the zombies coming over the field at the end!

on a lighter note just bought tickets to see a few Irish comedians including Ardhal O'Hanlon saturday week at a Mexican restaurant/bar in Shnaghai (what an odd mix)

As an update, Dad is back home and fine now. Bit scratched up but doing ok.

Andrew Stanley and Karl Spain were the two I remember. Def recognise Spain but the other one im not 100% sure on.

O yeah someone in here asked recently about TEFL courses etc. I did one about 2 years ago. 4 week one in DSE (Dublin School of English) on the keys next to U2s hotel. It wasnt easy but nobody failed the course. I already had a little teaching experience and didnt find it too hard but it does require your full attension on the days your doing it and it is worth doing for a number of reasons. Easier to get jobs in certain argueably better countries to work in, easier to get better paid positions, easier to get a job lined up before you go too. A lot will depend on where you go tbh with regards your experience but it should atleast be a real memorable experience. I'd reccomend it but then again I would have to really as I still havent come home. tbh I much prefered Taiwan to China thus far nicer (people by far, more english etc).

You will also have to think about things like what you wont to get out of the trip and the stage of your life your at. teaching English as a foreign language isnt really a career so if it isnt only a one year thing then consider would you be interested in learning a language like Chinese or Japanese which could obviously be of use to you once you return home (this is where ive been dragging my heels so far). you can pm me if you have any specific questions tho it might take a while for a reply.

Stanley is brilliant! He will be MC'ing it - never seen the guy do a bad show!
Karl Spain for my money is a fat waste of Space that laughs at his own (very obvious and some times stolen) jokes
Ardal is....well Ardal! if you have seen him once 20 years ago you have seen him today! middle of the road i suppose!

If you don't mind my asking, what actually happened?

And did the Gardai catch the guy who did it?

cheers man still cant quite picture Stanley's face and instead keep getting fecking Maxwell in there instead but that was kinda the opinion I had of them fellahs. TBH a week after Paddy's day and after so long away Ardal from 20yrs ago will probably go down a treat for me

He was out on Sunday night sitting on the taxi rank. A guy and girl got into the car and asked him to take them to a housing estate. When he stopped, the guy (who was sitting behind him) took out a knife and started stabbing. No threats or demands. Just started trying to stab him. The girl grabed his phone but he didn't tell them where his money was, so they jumped out and ran.

Apparently the Gardai know the guy from previous incidents, and they have cctv footage of him getting into the car, so there's plenty to do him for some serious stuff. But neither the guy nor girl have been home since the attack, so they are basically waiting for him to pop his head back up before they try and lock him up for a few years.

Terrible to hear, what drives people to do that. You can somewhat rationalise it if it was a money thing, at least there is motivation, as terrible as that sounds. Disgusting people in this world.

On a lighter note, Hurricane fly ruined my day.

Wow, that was pretty exciting from Chelsea. Will be hoarse tomorrow. Napoli unlucky.

Handed in notice at work today. Think there's no greater feeling, well in a work sense anyway.
