Haha celebrities endorse exercises , doesnt mean they do them, Id say his evergreen persona is more down to the last 38 odd years of healthy living than a few months of yoga. Bikram yoga is just another one of these passing fads , exercise is exercise.

The United players have been doing yoga for more than a few months. I remember Roy Keane saying he was taking lessons alongside Ronaldo and a few others. It is surely beneficial for keeping people strong and agile so I'm not sure why Giggs would lie. He's not just any celebrity either, he is exactly the kind of celebrity that would do something like this.

Celebrities endorse brands, not exercises. Giggs has been doing yoga since 2003, not quite "a few months".

    Also, "exercise is exercise"... what?

Yeah hes been doing circuit training , running , playing football , and doing all sorts of weight training etc etc
Yoga is a brand , major corporations are involved under the yoga banner, equiptment training gyms and so on. There surely is a fund .
Giggs drinks very little , his vices are sleeping with loose women , he eats healthy ,I think its unfair to say its all down to Yoga. Its even unfair to say any of it is down to Yoga.
Exercise is exercise , there is a million different exercises that help achieve whatever your goals are , healthy eating and good rest for repair is the most important thing , the exercising part is just a percentage of it.

Giggs said it helped extend his career, so it obviously did contribute. No-one ever said it was all down to yoga.

This is true. It depends on your goals and profession. The way you said it in your previous post made it sound like you were one of those "any exercise will do, sure it's all burning calories" people.

So say for example Bikram Yoga , in a matter of weeks the papers were quoting every celebrity that did it , I remember lady gaga being one, then it turned into a global phenomenom .
Do you honestly think this was by accident? Im not a conspiracy theorist it was nothing but good business. I dont see how training in 40 degree room will help your performance playing football on a 5 -10 degree pitch any more than training in a room temperature room would.
It may help dancers that perform under very warm spotlights.

A form of yoga popularised in the 70s is a passing fad? Some fad.

Around the same time Roy Keane started doing it.

As Starbelgrade said. I've heard of Bikram for the past few years at least.

A lot of full time martial arts clubs and serious competitors promote yoga and pilates as part of your training regime.

We are seeing a link to celebrity endorsement and things becoming popular. I never heard of it till a year or two ago and Im fairly up to date with health and fitness. Think it was when lady gaga was endorsing it.
    Pilates
    Kettlebells
    Freeweights
    Circuit training
    Aerobics
    Zumba
    Wii balance board thingy
Im not saying any of these arnt good exercises what Im saying is when they are in fshion you are paying premium for them when other exercises will do the same

Ryan Giggs has a yoga fitness video out. Proof positive that yoga doesn't make you gay.

Just stay away from your brother's missus after exercise.

Bikram has been huge in US for a long time, actually if there was anyone who popularised it it was Raquel Welch in 1980s. There were Bikram studios in Dublin since 2003 at least, maybe longer.

Jesus that really is good value, are you also paying a membership to that gym though?

No, it's a one-off introductory with Bikram Yoga Athlone. Galway is doing the same thing (I don't know where you are!). I'm 45 mins from both so can move on to the next one! €16 if you "drop-in"! Just finished a course and applying for jobs so great way to sort head and body out! 2 sessions in 2 days and feeling goooood!

Bikram Yoga was created in the '70's.

Quincy Jones and Jeff Daniels are both featured and pictured in Bikram's Yoga book published in the 80's I think.

BTW, Bikram himself is Dublin this weekend! He is giving a talk in UCD tomorrow night - tickets can be got at the door afaik

Love it! Do BY every second day, it's great. I'm in recovery too (alcohol) so does wonders for the head! Notice the difference physically too after 10 days. Heard the guru is in Dub tomorrow ~ great guy!

Well I got 30-day membership (go as little/often as you like) for €49. Drop in is usually €17! Some days 3 classes, weekend 1 a day. Athlone & Galway Bikram Yoga do it for first-timers, not sure where you're located but it's worth it!

BTW, lots of guys go too. Good if you're a runner, hurler etc. Really strengthens legs & muscles. Great breathing & sleep too. Noticed changes already after 7 90-min sessions in 10 days. Boy, do you sweat & get rid of toxins!

I tried moksha yoga a couple of weeks ago, its very similar to Bikram. I didn't like it though, waaaaayyy too hot for me.

Plenty of guys in the class, still a majority of women though. And I tell you if any of them went with the intention of eyeing up women, all they saw were sweaty messes. I was so jealous that they could take their tops off to cool down.

Pretty sure they were just doing it for fitness. My dad does triathlons and he goes to a men's pilates class because it is good for toning and strengthening and lengthening the muscles in addition to his other training. That whats he told me anyway. Just a coincidence the instructor was an amazing looking Spanish girl!

I went a few times and really enjoyed it. Too expensive for me after the month's introductory offer. Spotted a few rugby players there and was chatting to a couple of power lifters too.

Grew up in Twickenham so used to ruggers! Torn over next weekend's match... 15 days left re introductory 30 day offer + love it! Really notice difference.

Next point ~ Anyone tried CLA 24/7? Supposed to fat burn while you sleep. Started today. Hopefully with yoga + running, should do something! Comments appreciated x

Yeah I've spotted a few lads from the Dublin team in some classes I've been to
