Maybe the Bond series could benefit from the experimentation of a new director with each incarnation; similar to the way that the Mission Impossible series has. (not that they're all good films mind you! But, it could work better for Bond.)

i think helen mirren would be quite fab
    as M in skyfall...

If each film was it's own episode then yeah, but if they are going for a serial arc like they have with CR/QOS then that would be a disaster.

Craig said recently that Skyfall is going to get back to
basics. Hopefully. After QOS, a Bourne w*nk wanabee,
there can't be very much way but up?

    :p

Tom hardy and Nolan doing bond. Would definitely watch that.

As crazy as it may be...

Tom Hardy may one day be bond. He is british, has the charm and is in the age bracket.

One thing that really intrigues me is the casting of Ben Whishaw as Q. He's an excellent actor and it's an interesting tweak to make Q a young character. I know it won't have much influence on the overall story but it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm a fan of Mendes and the film looks to have an excellent cast so I'm actually really looking forward to this installment of the series.

I'm thinking Hardy is a long way off.

It's been said before but Clive Owen will probably be next to step into the shoes.

No, I think Owen's chance at Bond is gone. He's older than Craig and his star status is rapidly dwindling. By the time Craig retires from the role no one will remember who Owen is.

Really? Last thing I seen him in was Trust and that was good.

Trust ended up going straight-to-DVD. Intruders was unceremoniously pulled from Irish cinemas after a few days and it's only getting a limited release in the US before it goes straight-to-DVD as well. The same faith probably would have befallen Killer Elite if not for De Niro's presence. I'm pretty sure one or two of his previous films were straight-to-DVD jobs as well.

The guy might be a good actor, but he clearly has no pulling power with audiences which is pretty essential in order to be considered a movie star. He's close to being box office poison at this point.

Filming has only been going a few weeks, the song (or indeed the artist) usually doesn't get announced until much later in development.

Nolan already did a Bond film. It was called Inception. Plus, there's plenty of Bond influences in his Batman films.

Bond movies aren't full of flashbacks and manboys asking questions every 2 seconds

No idea. But, I'm just hoping it'll be voiced by Annie Lennox.

Yes, but there is no guarantee that Craig will be signed up for more Bonds, this is his last film on his current contract.

A furthur 5 films with Craig are under review but i'm not aware he signed any contract as yet.

I don't mind if he gets it, I think he has been excellent in the role. When you factor in 2 years to make each film he will be early 50's by the time his final film comes round which isn't too bad. Though i'm guessing audiences might be a bit tired of him at that stage.

Really looking forward to this. I know a lot of people think the new movies are just Bourne clones and they do owe a lot to that franchise but I think the Bond series needed to go in this grittier direction. The last films with Brosnan (who I actually though was a great Bond!) were awful!

I wonder will they ever get around to finishing off the Casino Royal/QOS storyline? I know plenty of people here hated QOS and I was'nt too impressed at first until I sat down and watched them back to back. Id really like to see it tied up in the future, though it seems unlikely :(

Ive high hopes for Skyfall. It has great people involved on the project and im thinking this may well shape up to be my favourite Bond yet, Goldeneye is my favourite currently!

The Neeson should've been given the chance.

After rubbish like THE A SCREAM and delivering the goods
in TAKEN, he's back it seems for TAKEN 2 directed by the loser
    who did COLUMBANIA or whatever...

He'd be great to put on THE TUXEDO.

    :)

The Craig on the otherhand is a little snivelling c*nt just like the Bond franchaise in recent years. As the olde adage goes..."Sleep with dogs and you get up with.....!"

Couldn't stop laughing at Taken when I saw it. Terrible movie. Liam Neeson's acting choices have gone to the.....dogs. Daniel Craig is good enough to play Bond.

Well that was an excuse to use a dog pun but I'm referring to the likes of the A-team, Wrath of the Titans, Kingdom of Heaven etc.

Why do they have to keep reverting back to the old cars and guns?
Why can't Bond go forward in the world.

because bond is all very quaint and dated and keeps the fanboys like
    me happy bunnies...

    :D

still can't beat from russia with love though as one of the greatest
spy films ever made along with the spy who came in from the cold...

Well yer man made a ****e of the last movie trying to constantly squeeze in allusions to previous Bond films. Whereas Casino Royale did a brilliant job of setting itself apart.

Yeah I was surprised that they made such a spectacular balls of the last one after Casino Royale had just revived the the franchise 2 years before.

Daniel Craig is a damn fine actor and is the best Bond since Sean Connery IMO. Hopefully they get this one right.

am I the only person that actually like QOS? the opening is fantastic, the opera scene is great and there's a few decents action scenes, its far from a bad Bond movie.

Preferred it to Casino Royale actually.
The "I have no armour left..." nonsense in the CR script ruined it for me.
Couldn't take it at all seriously, particularly given Eva Green's terrible acting.

I hated it until someone on here pointed out that it's a direct continuation from Casino Royale, so I rewatched the two of them back-to-back and loved it then. On it's own, it's not very good IMHO, it can't really be enjoyed as a standalone Bond like the others can, it really needs to be seen as a Casino Royale part 2.

yeh exactly, its the first proper Bond sequel in that it picks up literally where CR left off, I love the opening shot with the camera coming across the lake as Bond is hauling ass through the tunnels.

Yep that was me, it works on a whole other level when you watch them back to back. QOS shouldn't be seen as a seperate movie at all imho.

The opening was ok, but making a direct sequel in the Bond franchise was always going to be a gamble. And I didn't like how the sequel created so many new threads rather than expanding on the ones started in CR.

I had read about the opera scene and was looking forward to it as it looked really good...on paper. I just didn't feel it played out as well as it may have looked on the storyboard. Same for the horse racing scene. Then ofcourse there is the fact that so much of the films budget and energy was spent on these scenes too.

Watch Pierce Brosnan's Bond movies again... Goldeneye was a classic Bond movie. The rest were car crashes.

Craig's physique is overkill for Bond. He looks like a guy who spends all day in the gym, not a secret agent. The slimmer, more wiry physique he had in Cowboys & Aliens would have been better suited to Bond.
